I think he definitely tried to cover it up somehow, but how is the question. He just seems so sneaky that it's tough to wonder what would go through his mind. But if he went out of the area to conceal something, I don't know why he would leave her pickup in the location that he did.

Because it was close and he could keep and eye on the truck and watch PD "find the truck". Which we know he did.

Much like an arsonist will be in the crowd watching the structure burn down.

We have almost gotten lost in Mohican before. It's huge and yes, plenty of area to dump bodies.

Sometimes I do get the feeling all this evidence was planted as part of a "game" by MH but I suppose time will tell.
