Circumstances of Disappearance
CASE was traveling from HOUMA LA to Colorado. During CASES's last call with her father she was traveling northbound on Hwy 271 in the Bogata TX area.

Cell tower hits after the call indicated that she continued north on hwy 271 toward Paris, Texas her estimated arrival time in Paris would have been approximately 1800 hours. At 2117 hours a license plate reader captures her leaving Paris in a northwesterly direction on FM 79.

A short time later her cellphone begins hitting cell towers in Choctaw County Oklahoma.

On August 12, 2022 CASE's vehicle was located in a rural area along a steep embankment along the Kiamichi River near Frogville Oklahoma.

It is believed that someone other than CASE attempted to dispose of the vehicle in the river.

All emphasis mine.
Car found about 30 minutes north then east from Paris (53 minutes from Bogata, TX, SE of Paris).

We need answers to our "why" questions to be able to help. I'm not seeing a Facebook search page or any family comments to help fill in the gaps in MSM reports.

MOO
(On August 12, 2022 CASE's vehicle was located in a rural area along a steep embankment along the Kiamichi River near Frogville Oklahoma.) Can you please tell us where you read that the car was found on a steep embankment? See we live not far from here and havent heard any of that. We did hear it was found on the riverbank, behind a locked gate. So that property owner has some explaining to do.

Regarding the CCTV image, thoughts:

- The image is distorted. Not sure if that's from the original camera or the way it's projected.
- The image that they are circulating looks like someone took a photo of a screen. Near the top, you can see some reflection (marked it in red). IMO it looks like florescent lighting, probably from where the photo was taken.
- At first I thought the lack of a front plate was odd, but according to Autolist, it's not mandatory to have a front plate for LA. (source)

Quoting myself (bold) to make a correction/change of mind: The upper area is more likely the lights from the gas station itself. However, the bottom does show it being a photo of another screen.

IMO - it is not possible to determine if anyone is in the car from the CCTV image. The CCTV itself isn't very high quality, but it's projected onto a monitor, of which a photo was taken (most likely a phone camera), which was then uploaded to FB, which compresses and reduces image quality even further. The raw video itself might be better to find clues.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING SUSPECTED
Case’s uncle, Randy Case, said she was heading to Colorado and giving her father frequent updates. When her dad stopped hearing from her, he flew to Oklahoma to search the woods with law enforcement.

Randy Case said, nothing else in the car was touched, leading him to believe this was a human trafficking case.
I thought I had read her car was found NEAR the river, but it was IN the river. And, according to the video news report, they don’t believe she was in the car when it was “dumped in the river” and they found her phone “stuck in a tree”. Definitely not sounding good. :(

Not sure of the accuracy of that article, which says;

“The car of a missing Houma woman was found in the Kiamichi River near Fort Towson, Okla. after her family hadn’t heard from her in days.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), 33-year-old Caitlyn Case’s car and phone were found in the Kiamichi River Aug. 12.”

While the OSBI says:

“ It is believed that an attempt was
made to deposit the vehicle in the Kiamichi River
to hide its location during the late-night hours of August 5, 2022. It is not believed at this time that Case physically entered Oklahoma.”

Welcome to Websleuths @Will Willard!

Being able to provide insight into the area where CRC's vehicle was found is great!

However, the statements BBM in your post require an LE or MSM source unless provided by a Verified Insider approved by WS.

Source for location of phone?

Possibly interesting: flash flood watch in Paris/Lamar County til 8pm CDT tonight.

(Dallas has gotten 7+ inches of rain since yesterday, crazy.)
I drove to Bogata yesterday to look around and hit some backroads … got caught in blinding rain just west of town so the trip was cut short.

A few observations…I’ve been this way 100 times but never with a purpose other than “passing through”

-At least a half-dozen visible cell towers line the highway between Bogata and Paris

Surveillance Possibilties:

-Dollar General in Deport, TX (between Bogata and Paris) is right on highway,

-Family Dollar in Bogata, again, sits right on highway

-4-5 gas stations front 271 in Bogata and Deport

No stops on the path aside from the 4-way stop west of Bogata, I did not observe any traffic cameras in this area.

I totally agree there is a distinction. The way the OSBI states it, "an attempt was made" to dump the vehicle in the river which IMO alludes to the possibility it was a failed attempt. Perhaps it was a rushed attempt and didn't go so well. Or maybe they worded it that way but the vehicle really was located in the river [although the length of time in which the vehicle was discovered would make one think that more likely isn't the case]. I can see how a news report could easily make that mistake although I always wish more attention to detail would be given! MOO

Anyways thanks for pointing that out! I really benefit from the insight you bring to this case in ur comments

Does anyone have any ideas on where this image was taken? I’ve looked at all the gas stations between Paris & Mt Pleasant, and cannot find one that has brick columns.
I think the picture was taken at the Mobil station in Gainesville TX. Not sure if its okay to post that here I'm kind of new here. Go look right quick. I'm sure its the place.

I think so too, @Will Willard ! For sure it’s Exxon / Mobil stations with that red box. Of the stations I looked at, only Mobil seemed to have the stone columns.

I took the image below from Google street view at the Gainesville Grandway Travel Center. I’m not sure it reveals anything in particular; I just wanted a better look at that red box!

I swear I read in an article a LE quote saying they don't think she personally ever entered Oklahoma but now I can't find it.

Looks like it was from the OSBI Facebook page:

New update from OSBI via their Facebook page:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELEASED IN SEARCH FOR MISSING LOUISIANA WOMAN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (August 19, 2022) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is releasing additional information in the Caitlyn Case investigation in hopes of narrowing the search area.

During the course of the investigation, Special Agents have determined that 33-year-old Case’s last known location was in the Bogata, Texas area on August 5, 2022 at approximately 5:00 p.m. She was traveling northbound along Highway 271 towards Paris, Texas. Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on August 5, Case’s cellphones registered on cell towers at Pattonville, Texas and a tower located south of Paris.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 5, 2022, Case’s vehicle traveled around the south loop of Highway 286 in Paris to FM 79 where it proceeded in a northwesterly direction from Paris. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle is believed to have traveled north in an unknown path headed to Oklahoma. After entering Oklahoma on Highway 271, the vehicle then turned east on Highway 109 south of Grant, Oklahoma.

At this point in the investigation there is concern that someone other than Case was in control of the vehicle. It is believed that an attempt was made to deposit the vehicle in the Kiamichi River to hide its location during the late-night hours of August 5, 2022. It is not believed at this time that Case physically entered Oklahoma.
Case left Houma, Louisiana en route to Colorado on August 4, 2022. Her last contact with family members was on August 5. Her vehicle was located on the banks of the Kiamichi River south of Fort Towson the night of August 12.

Case was driving a black 2006 GMC Envoy with Louisiana plates 957FDO. Case is described as being 5’5”, 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black spaghetti strap style top, light blue jeans and red tennis shoes (see attached image from surveillance video on August 5, 2022).

Agents request that anyone living or working along the previously listed routes with access to recorded video footage on August 5, 2022 between 5:00 p.m. and 10 p.m. contact the OSBI tipline at (800) 522-8017 or tips@osbi.ok.gov.

The OSBI has been assisted by numerous law enforcement agencies including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office, Hugo Police Department, Paris Police Department, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Lamar County District Attorney’s Office, Houma, Louisiana Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Police Department, Lewisville Police Department, Longview Police Department, Gladewater Police Department, Mt. Pleasant Police Department.

The OSBI is currently the lead investigative agency and all tips should be forwarded threw the OSBI tip line.

Can you show me where it was said this photo was on August 5? I don’t believe that has been stated.
Guesses/things to narrow it down:
- OSBI said she stopped at convenience stores at six locations. The stops are: Mt. Pleasant, Gladewater, Lewisville, Gainesville, and Paris.
- The image was said to be taken at night on 8/5, so the prevailing assumption is from midnight to 6 a.m.
- Last known location is in Bogata, TX on 8/5 at around 5 p.m.

Speculation
- Near/close by a freeway?
- Since they say 8/5, the assumption is midnight to 6 a.m. Is there any reason to NOT believe this assumption? Could OSBI have misreported or misread the date?
- If she was still with her car, there is a gap from 6 to 9 p.m. on 8/5 that she could have been seen. This is assuming that she ran into trouble/foul play at around 5-6 p.m on 8/5.
