Peachy123- I read that, too. That was offered as explanation as to why she had a large sum of money in her purse, she was afraid to leave it at home.
I thought at the time that was BS- I think earlier I mentioned that one of my inlaws is what you may call a 'prominent attorney'. Since his mother lives nearby he made some off the record inquiries and was told that one theory was that Ms Sherman was either dealing in drugs part time or more likely was trying to buy off drug dealers who were harassing and threatening her daughter's family. That would explain why she had the money also why she seemed to be expecting this guy.
Snipped

Anything is possible, but not many drug dealers (on the level the housekeeper would know) would be dressed nicely and carrying a briefcase I would think. Also how do we know she was waiting for someone? She was cleaning at the time.

Such a strange case and so sad that a child killer seems to have just got away with it and there is no outcry from around there.

I know Omaha has a pretty high crime rate for the population of the town. Do you know what LE's percentage rate is for solved crimes?

It's bad- I have lived in Omaha since 1973 and always thought of it as a nice safe place for my family. No more. Gun violence is exploding into previously quiet neighborhoods. There used to be a very high rate of closure on murders by OPD, again no more. I think in an earlier post I mentioned that scores of expreienced detectives took 'early retirement' in the last couple of years, it sure shows. They have not for the most part been replaced and the new city budget calls for more funding cutbacks. Of course they find money to spend on sports complexes, trolly systems and a pedestrian bridge to nowhere.
Our current mayor and much of the city council are up for election this Spring, several including the mayor are not seeking re-election.

According to this article, they are usually around 60%, but for 2008, less than 50%. I have no idea if that is good or bad??

That doesn't sound good at all to me. In fact, it sounds horrible. That means if you are murdered in Omaha there is more than a 50% chance that it will never be solved. Maybe they need to reevaluate all of their detectives through testing. It sounds like they have become complacent.

I forgot to mention that number is only for homicides. I'm not sure what it is for ALL unsolved crimes. It did seem for awhile that there was a shooting almost EVERYDAY on the news, then I look at this article and it says there were 223 shootings in 2008! It certainly seems that they have become complacent. There seems to be mistrust with certain communities and the LE, JMO, but talking to people during the Amber Harris search, nobody wanted to talk to LE - they would tell us everything, but when asked if they had told LE, they acted like we were crazy! I'm just saying that sometimes LE needs help - people to come forward and that doesn't always happen..... people fear retaliation and to be honest with you, when 16 of the 44 homicides last year were gang-related I probably wouldn't want to talk either. Having said all that, I agree that more needs to be done. A pedestrian bridge to Council Bluffs? ...ha....and I even live in IA!

This case keeps nagging at me. The lack of information released on two murders in one of the most affluent areas of Omaha and in the home of two well known physicians is getting NO coverage. I simply cannot understand why? I'll bet a lot of people in the Dundee area are sleeping with one eye open.

I'm also wondering if the FBI has been called in on this case since the car of the suspect was obviously from another state.

Yellowdog, yeah it has been getting to me all along. Sometimes I think I need to just back off from it, it all makes you feel so helpless, there just seems to no media interest in the case.
Last I heard the FBI was called in, back in April or May, then nothing since. That kinda makes me wonder too what the dickens is going on. I may send you a private message tommorrow on that as I have some comments I don't think ought to be on the board.
I do have a 'source' of sorts, not in OPD or local media but someone with an interest in this case who has been in direct touch with OPD and they seem to talk to this person a bit. Last time they had the feeling that the cops really are at a dead end on this thing. They are going to check back shortly.
My son is the same age as the Hunter kid, worse, they look almost exactly alike. So, I know why this has me going. Maybe it shouldn't but it does.
Crazy thought here, does anyone know of a psychic who would be willing to give input on this case? I tried to get one I met online on another board involved in this, sent them photos of the victims and the crime scene, then was accused by them of wanting the informaiton for 'selfish reasons' and was told to not contact them again. Many of them are head cases. God isn't it sad that after 10 months we have to even think about that? Comments welcome.

Your feelings aren't out of sorts. They are dead on. I believe this has more to do with the son than his mother, the doctor. I realize the housekeeper and the doctor share similar looks but the role is so different.
I will send this thread to someone I know who may have some intuitive feelings to share. Or not. Worth a shot anyway. She did real well on the Caylee Anthony case but never posted.

Concernedperson- Many thanks for your generous offer. The person you are contacting may need pics of the crime scene, in addition to the victims. I can supply that- just contact me with a privste message and I can send.

Hi Snick & Concerned Person. Any new developments on this case? It just feels like this has been swept under the rug and they're hoping it will just go away unnoticed.

Nothing much here, just plugging away. The one year anniversary of the crime is coming up shortly so maybe there will be some articles, etc that may stimulate something, let's hope so!

Tonight's Law & Order seemed eerily similar to this case, probably based on it....

AN INCIDENT AT A SORORITY PARTY 30 YEARS AGO LEADS TO A DOUBLE MURDER Harold and Joyce Foley (guest stars Stephen Kunken and Erin Dilly), both well-known biologists at a local university, come home to find their young son Eric (guest star Timothee Chalamet) and the housekeeper brutally murdered. Detectives Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) believe that the Foley’s work on a controversial pharmaceutical study made them targets for the killer. Ned Lasky (guest star Matt Malloy), a reporter for Science Today who may have some serious emotional issues, has also been harassing the Foley’s. Lupo and Bernard take Joyce on a trip down memory lane to a sorority party 30 years ago to find some answers. With very little evidence to work with, A.D.A’s Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) work diligently to track down a key witness who was there.

Hi Moonlighter, welcome back! I think the writers for Law and Order clearly base their stories on ideas gleaned from real life and probably cruise these boards for stories they can use. There are too many similiarities here for this to be a coincidence. You can't blame them for doing this, I guess but I can see this would maybe be upsetting to persons close to the victim's families.
A lot of peole who have looked at the Hunter/Sherman murders feel they were some sort of retaliation for the doctors' activities in some way. Hopefully we can find out the truth sooner or later, take care.
