i feel like i live under a rock -- am i the only one who's never heard of 'four loko'?

but in that vein, does anyone think perhaps she was drugged (by him, not her own hand)? if it was whitney in the explorer at the gas station, it might explain her being placid and not fighting back. he could've done that at dodge park, then pulled the trigger at larch.

might also explain why the ME doesn't want to reveal that information. they might not have the evidence yet to prove he drugged her. toxicology would most definitiely tell a story.

thoughts?

Certainly plausible. I had never heard of loko either. Had to google it before somebody here eluded to what it was. loko is so fitting as i think this guy is crazy as a loon. Certainly not in the legal sense but in the sick twisted mind sense.

1a, 1b, 1e, and possibly 2d apply. is that accurate?

TIA expecially to any legal beagles here...
IMO, 1(e), 2(d) and 2(e).

IMO, 1(e), 2(d) and 2(e).

So, to put it in layman's terms

1a - He killed her during a robbery
1b - It was a hired hit
1e - He killed her while attempting to assault her in some way, possibly sexually.
2d - This one covers a lot but the one that stands out is the possibility of her being pregnant.
2e - She witnessed him committing another crime and he killed her to cover it up.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these. I don't think it's 1b, IMO.

I am new here, and I have a question.
I looked at the link that shows the booking photo with information. Why does it show this man as "released"?
I thought you could not post bail on a murder charge?
Wow.

He was transferred into the custody of Clackamas County. So, technically he was released from Multnomah County custody where he was taken originally. They transferred him to Clackamas County as that is where they believe the murder happened.

We need Gwenabob. She is our legal beagle in Oregon.

MOO, but the other neighbors homes are, hmmm, how to put it..."kept up", cared for, etc. You can be low income and still have 'cared for' and clean...it looks like an abandoned home. Not judging them at all, from an income standpoint...but compared to the other homes on that street, by walking the google man, it seems unkempt, uninviting and almost 'empty'.

I agree, I sorta thought it looked empty and void of any personal touches like flower beds, windchimes.... That sort of thing. But it appeared tidy to me.

Does anyone think that Whitney might have been shot?

I'm thinking perhaps she was taken at gunpoint for what ever reason, she eventually tried making a break for it at Dodge park when JH shot her through the passenger side window of her SUV breaking the glass. He then loaded her body into the rear of the vehicle and drove her to Larch Mountain where she was later found. JH then dumped the SUV at Walmart and disposed of the phone on his walk back home.

JMO

I am catching up so forgive me if this has been covered but I SWEAR I heard either George Stephanopolis or Brad Garrett on GMA say something about a "gun" or "shooting", along those lines.

I was getting ready for school and came running in to see if I heard right but the segment was done and I assumed I heard wrong. Maybe I need to read the transcript.

ETA: yowza!!! I sure didn't see multiple GSW as a COD! Even with what I "thought" I heard on GMA. It reminds me of poor Mickey.

This case keeps getting weirder and weirder. :(

1(e) -- from the multiple gunshot wounds;
2(d) -- via 116.135 1(b)(D) [kidnapping 1st degree] and/or 1(b)(H) [any 1st degree sexual offense] and/or 1(b)(J) [assault 1st degree]; and finally
2(e) -- murder in an attempt to conceal his identity and the other crimes he committed (i.e. crimes under 2(d)).

COD-Multiple gunshot

This does remind me too of the Mickey Shunick case. B.L. shot her too. Glad Mickey was able to inflict some serious hurt on him first. Not many Victims get the chance.

Thanks! I went back and edited my post.

I am just flabbergasted!

I am a little surprised too! I did think that they must have had solid proof she was killed at Dodge Park... Wonder if they found the gun there? Bullets ballistics...

Maybe people heard shots fired in the area?
That might explain...
why LE thought he had been to Dodge Park and Larch Mtn prior to his visit for gas...
why LE is not commenting about the attendant seeing a woman in the front seat with him? (they already had a good idea about the time of death???)

I'm guessing, but I think I know the answer to this one... He transferred counties to Clackamas (?sp) so he was released from this county's jail...

I just want to be very careful that we are not targeting Holt's family- his wife NOR his parents. We have no idea what his childhood was like based on what we see outside his childhood home. Many lower income people cannot afford frivolous things like flowers, and they are certainly not going to have toys outside with adult children. I know *something* is missing in Holt, but we can't blame his parents. We don't know what occurred in his life to cause him to kill. MOO

Thank you for saying this DM, ITA.

Trying to catch up this morning.

I read this morning that Whitney was shot, for some reason I was not expecting this. Although in hindsight it makes sense that he had a gun. I guess this may be the reason for the broken passenger window

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

For whatever reason, this case has seriously made a mark on me. I've had a hard time going throughout the day without thinking of Whitney or her family.

I was doing some searching, and I do find it strange that we haven't been able to find much information about JDH and his wife/family/past. I was able to find her on Pinterest (most gals have one, couldn't find Whitney on there though), but there's not much to report back on that. (Mods, let me know if it's not allowed to talk about this! I won't link since, IMO, she is a victim as well). I tried searching the user name that AH used on her Pinterest for any other sites that could give more insight on JDH but came up empty.

Hugs to everyone here.

I'm new here, but not to "sleuth" sites. I live within a mile from where Whitney and Clint live. I shop routinely the Winco up the street from where she worked at Starbuck's...I stopped there several times to get coffee. This has so touched our community...it's as if she belonged to each one of us...a sister, daughter, grandchild.

I'm not sure if this has already been brought up, but some things:

Holt and his wife were members of the same church as Whitney and Clint.

Holt has a lovely, young wife (there are wedding photos showing him and his bride, making it all so surreal as to how he could have done this!)

The news this morning says that Whitney's autopsy shows multiple gunshot wounds. This tells me she wasn't killed at her apartment parking lot as some would think. You would hear multiple gunshots. This areda is a lovely, quiet neighborhood, and the apartments are beautiful and well maintained. This is not an area that people would turn a deaf ear if they heard shots.

His erratic behavior in traveling from one area to the next makes me think this wasn't premeditated. I think it was a spur of the moment thing. He made 6 stops. Had this been planned, he would have known where he was going.

Their apartment is on Mt. Hood Highway...a direct route up to ski areas and close to Dodge Park near Sandy. I think he shot her there, hid her in the SUV (reason for the floor mats and carpet being in disarray), came back to Gresham where he purchased gas (the Shell station is a 1/4 mile from me), then drove up to Larch Mountain where he disposed of her body. He then came back, went to the Troutdale Terrace Apartments, discarded her cell phone, then went down the street to the Walmart and dumped the SUV.

The questions I have are:

Who tipped off the JW members to search Larch Mountain? They had this information before LE did. Did Holt himself confess to members of his church? Is that why he stopped at the Troutdale Apartments? To call Kingdom Hall, confess to them and tell them where she was, and to have someone come for him after ditching her SUV at Walmart?

And the big question....why?

Holt graduated with a 3.35 GPA:

No word on college for either Holt or Heischel, which seems a little odd. Is it typical for Jehovah's Witnesses to not pursue any education after high school?

It's personal preference as to whether you will attend college, tech trade school, apprentice, or otherwise. But you are strongly encouraged & expected to educate yourself in order to support yourself & your family. If they were able to make enough at Starbucks to reach the goals they had for themselves, or she had for herself, then that's fine too =)

It depends on what your personal goals are. In my neighborhood, we have a large number of FireFighters, Paramedics, EMT's, Nurses, Hotel Owners (multiple), and various business owners. We also have bus drivers, housekeepers, and stay-at-home Moms or Dads ... just to name a few.

I hope that answers your question, while trying to be brief enough & not discuss too much about the religious aspect.
