I looked at the house JH took his friend to see, (the one he said he and his wife were thinking about renting)
on the google (trekker-streetview) map - and the google aerial view map.

The house is away from residential neighborhoods and sits kind of by itself.
There's a large field across the street and a large wooded area in back.
But what's also interesting is, it appears to have a small construction site in the back yard.

My hinky meter went up when I saw the location and I'm now wondering if he went there,
with his friend, to check on something else besides to just show the house to his friend.

For some reason, I couldn't post the link to the maps. But in order to see the house,
you have to type in the address: 28030 SE Sweetbriar Rd, Troutdale, OR for the street view map.
To see the aerial view map, type in 28031 SE Sweetbriar Rd, Troutdale, OR.

I got the creeps when I went to street view because it reminded me of the street view near the crime scene at Roslyn lake...thick trees on one side of the road, and a big empty field on the other.

Continuing on past the house, further down Sweetbriar Rd, you come to Stark St, which ends up at Columbia River Hwy.

Turning right and down the road a bit, you can either go on Hurlburt Rd to Roselyn Lake... or stay on Columbia River Hwy to Larch Mtn.

So, he probably passed that rental house several times. And possibly stopped there more than once or twice.

I still don't get it. If he went and looked/peeped into an empty house that was up for rent, then ... ???? what?

Sorry, overtired me not able to follow :)

It's interesting that if you go to Google street view for the rental house, the picture is dated 8/11 and clearly shows the "for rent" sign.

For those checking Google street views (of crime scene locales or rental house), keep in mind those are not usually current. Satellite photos happen maybe once/year. (I discovered this when checking out our own address, with different property modifications made over the past 10 years (pool, outbuildings, etc.) showing up about 8-12 months after the fact.)

This is very possible. And would make sense why people are questioning the photos and also his marriage...

I have 2 uncles that suffer(ed) from Schizophrenia. Both started showing signs and were diagnosed in their mid 20's. Prior to that age they had been seemingly normal and no different than their other brothers who do not suffer from the disease.

One was married with kids when he started exhibiting symptoms and strange behavior. He would often go missing for days.

The other was in a long time relationship with a girlfriend and slowly started exhibiting weird behavior.

Prior to their diagnosis in their mid 20's neither partner noticed anything too out of the ordinary and were in committed relationships with them.

And to attest to the photos - I have some when I was very young with one f my uncles when he was in his early 20's and prior to weird behavior. You would never think anything was wrong. Now to look at photos he definitely looks troubled and you can see it in his eyes.

Very possible (but in NO WAY sticking up for JH) that he recently started exhibiting the signs of mental illness as a lot of young men see schizophrenia start in their 20's. Just my personal opinion based on family situations....

If he is guilty, then to me this situation seems most to match the rest of the clues left with this crime. The sloppy, disorganized thinking concerning leaving such obvious clues could only be explained by serious mental lapses, imo. The perpetration of this crime (to me, from looking at the clues) doesn't seem to be the way a hardened, methodically careful killer would have done it. *I think it's also sad that another poster senses a need (as did I) to apologize for possibly appearing to 'stick up' for the accused just because she's honestly considering this as a possible reality rather than just 'an excuse.' Whatever it was that brought on this horrific crime, it doesn't change the fact that it's a tragedy that we live in a world where humans can go so wrong that this kind of thing can ever happen.

FWIW, I think some of the speculation in this thread about the rental house and old police report of a previous "breakdown" and whether or not he was even killing/covering-up the year prior (yada, yada) is off track in a thread about Whitney's case. It encourages a discussion about what anyone on here can possibly imagine the accused 'could do' (and y'all have some great imaginations), rather than examining the facts/evidence of the case for which this thread is named. So, to me at least, it's distracting...and I confess, a little uncomfortable to read. (I feel like I'm sitting at my mother-in-law's house listening to her gossip about the neighbors. *sigh* Yeah, I know that's my issue, not yours. And I am well aware that that is not a popular position to take on here, but again, so be it. 'Nuff said.)

Some other questions I don't remember seeing an answer to, though they might have been discussed all ready:

•Were there any surveillance videos at Walmart that were able to film the Ford Explorer being parked in the lot?

•Has anyone determined which Heichel vehicle was used to jump start Holt's motorcycle?

•Were there any surveillance videos at Walmart that were able to film the Ford Explorer being parked in the lot?

Yes, quite a while back it was established (through reports) that the Explorer was seen on surveillance being dropped at 11:17 , but that it was FOUND at @ 1:00 by members of the search (I believe her congregation)..... (the discovery at 1:00 led to the checking of tapes, which established 11:17 as the time it was brought there). I'm not sure which of the 4 threads this was on, and haven't the time to go back and look but it was definitely discussed and established.

Edit to add: Also, it was reported that the tape was too grainy to get any idea of the perp or who dropped it.

Not that I have seen, no.

Thanks, Melancholy--that was fast. That clears up the confusion I had about the two different car 'discovery' times, too. :)

Well, the facts we've most recently been told are of the police report filed of JDH going missing in 8/11 under unusual circumstances. JMO, but I think it really may have something to do with this investigation because it *could* lead to prior criminal activity or show some insight into the type of person JDH was/is. Just sayin'.

I understand the desire to get insight into the type of person he is. It's just that...criminals come in all types and boxes. Like Ronso (?) was saying before, just because someone might or might not watch *advertiser censored* (ie. might or might not admit to it, or be discovered watching it), or peep in empty rental houses, etc., it doesn't mean he's therefore the 'type' to have done this sex-related crime. And it really doesn't follow that he necessarily is guilty of what he's accused of then in this particular case. So even if you could imagine all kinds of terrible 'other' scenarios he could've been involved in, it doesn't mean he did this particular crime or any other, for that matter. (His actual guilt is not even ironclad if he himself admits to doing a crime--as he did in this case).

(I think I'm begining to see why I always get picked for juries... sorry!)

Thanks, but does the link only work locally? (All I get is black.)

I'm not local and it worked for me.

Also, another remark about the video...I think he realizes that every.single.move.he.makes, and every.single.word.he.says. is being analyzed to the most minute of detail, as when he said make sure you go to bed friends each night (which is sound, solid advice) but you can kind of tell he probably thought "great people are going to read into THAT" and so he followed up by saying he was glad that he and WH were able to do that.

My heart breaks for him.

This is OT, and lighter subject matter ;) but...

My husband, before leaving for work (at a time I'm not sure of, and wearing what-I have no clue) woke me up and said "Hey, could you maybe spend less time playing detective today, because I need clean work pants for tomorrow" eep! :X

(he was teasing me of course, but it was cute, no less)

Haha Love it!

We apparently can't get it where we live. But the site had a link that directed me to this article with interview portion--which I hadn't yet read.

Was this on the video?

Clint Heichel said he knew Jonathan Holt and his wife as neighbors and they all attended the same church, but he never thought Holt was “obsessed” with Whitney, as a source previously told KGW.

He “seemed like a shy guy,” Heichel said.

Heichel said the Holts had watered their bonsai trees and the Heichels watched the Holts’ cats while each other were out of town in the past.

“We just tried to be the best people we could and not hold a grudge … there’s a bad sheep in every community … I don’t want to make a huge spectacle. What’s taken place is horrible, I'm just doing the best I can to keep moving forward without her,” he said.

Didn't get this video, but just reading all the interview statements, I also get the feeling he is very conscious of every word he's saying. What he says has a somewhat rehearsed sense to it.

What did he say re AH?

he remarks about spending a lot of time with his family and not wanting to be alone because that's not good, then goes on to say

"I got a chance to see Amanda, I, all I could do, you know, I don't have any bad feelings for her, I love her probably more now -- you know, his wife--you know, more than I did before, I didn't really know her. I just gave her a hug. and you know, that's all I can do, is just...She didn't know <reporter asks a question> Yeah, last night at one of our Christian meetings, it was very hard for both of us, but you know we're in this together. We have you know, equal pain. her's is a little different than mine, and mine is different from hers" and they cut out

(sorry, there was a lot of watch/pause/type/watch/pause/type to make sure I got it right lol)

I'd be rehearsing too, knowing everyone is analyzing every word I say trying to decide if I am 'grieving properly'.
