He could have brought it to a "chop shop" in Philly. I'm sure there are a number of them.

eg: Chop shops are illegal garages that buy stolen cars, disassemble them, and sell their individual parts for profit. To avoid being caught, criminals disassemble a car within hours of stealing it. That way, the owner and the police will never be able to find it.

He would have to have connections. A guy looking like him doesn't walk around Philly asking about chop shops. At least not for long. If anything he left it in a specific part of town with the keys in it. Or he sold/traded it to a dealer whom would gladly use it for awhile and dump it.

A person by that name is FB friends with KE (actually PK also has two FB pages). Definitely strange.

Yeah, from what I saw quite possible that they had interactions via work possibly. Again, no idea what that means, if anything. Is odd though.

Thats what I was thinking that the $10,000.00 would be money and jewelry value.

I think it's possible he did have some connections. He's not entirely crime free by any means. The field he works in also lends itself to ex-cons and just generally shady people. Once my parents had 4 people working on their house. Next day only 1 showed up. One of them had shot the other 2 in the mountains over a bad drug deal.

I remember from an earlier article that Amy had stolen some jewelry and about $200 in cash. So most of that $10,000 would be in jewelry. They would not get that much from any pawn shop.

I once had a friend who had a bad habit of buying nice jewelry and then getting buyer's remorse afterward. The markup on fine jewelry is insane. So, yeah. They're not going to get much from a pawn shop - and reputable pawn shops ask for ID.

What's the price of gold these days? Precious stones? Do you get more money selling jewelery that way or by the piece?

ABSOLUTLY - jewelry has a 70% mark up. If you buy a dimound ring for $2000.00, then the resell value would be about $300.00, and if they needed to sell it quickly then they would get scrap price at best.

What if he didn't use his debit card but used a stolen one? How quickly would LE be able to figure out it was Esterly using the card? And has anyone ever had their identity stolen before? How long would it take for names of two people to become co-mingled in credit reports if LE knows who has the stolen card? Just a theory...

Also, I think we may not have heard some details from LE because LE stated they know Esterly is monitoring the news. They want him to feel comfortable that they are not onto him yet while they quietly track him. JMO.

I think that LE wants KE to think they are hot on his trail, but in reality, LE doesn't have the vaguest idea of where they are now. JMHO, based on following the Cummins case. If some sharp-eyed person doesn't spot them, LE will ask for the public's help 3 or 4 weeks from now.

:moo:

Just to be clear.

Luu said that her daughter left with "a couple hundred dollars" in cash and that she also took "a little bit of jewelry and "took a passport."

This clears it up. She stole $200 in cash, the jewelry and her Mom's passport.

Regards,

She took her own passport, not her mom’s. Later on in the article you linked to, it says:

Y's mother told police, according to the affidavit, that money, jewelry, and the teen's personal documents were taken from her residence without her permission.

"Y and Esterly had their passports with them and could potentially go anywhere."
It's always been reported to this point Yu had her own.

The transcript from the verbal translations seems very sketchy on details. This is also is the first time that the $10K is mentioned that would be, what, grand larceny? I feel like e-mailing the reported mentioned in the show and see where that came from.

the report of AY taking $10,000 "in" her mother's passport was from a verbal interview. When we speak, "and" often sounds like "in" so I am back to thinking she took her mother's passport.

It will be frustrating to see 100 more posts about the passport topic because it doesn't really add much IMO - what changes if she had her mom's passport vs. (or in addition to) her own? Does it truly open up any new avenues?

Well LE is letting AY mom release this information to step up the heat on KE at this time. They are trying to coax him in by letting him know that the longer you wait the worse it gets. Good catch again. Add Grand Larceny to the charges.

My opinion - if the basic facts can;t be gotten straight then there isn't much of a point in discussing it, becomes frustrating like you're saying. The difference in whether she uses her own or mom lies in that it would be easier /less noticed travelling as an adult than a minor, but riskier. Plus identify theft. And the difference in t he amount taken - 10K vs a couple hundred, means they have more to live on and go undetected longer and what means of transport / escape. And the penalties would go up based on what you take as the basic fact. So getting the basic things right does effect the conclusions that we discuss. The basic facts have been reviewed for the 8 days since the beginning and then just thrown out the window in one afternoon by interpretations of one sketchy report. So I feel that frustration.

I think they will be caught soon - as long as they don;t have 10K extra

I'm really worried for this child.

In the ET / TC case, there were a lot of quacks that supported TC, and put the blame on ET. Although, most people supported and pitied ET because of the abuse she endured making her vulnerable prey to TC.

AY is in the same boat. Except I believe she's dealing with different triggers than ET. The apparent lack of a father figure and self identity. I see potential issues with the assimilation of american culture and norms different from her heritage. I think it's possible AY saw KE as the "american father" with a pretty wife and family and saw how different this family functioned and "fit" into society than her own. I think she wanted to be apart of that and I think KE recognized that and took advantage of it.

People don't understand "grooming" and the affects it has and can lead to... heck, I just learned about it in the ET case.

I'm really worried for this child. Her triggers are much less relatable and understood IMO. Also, she will have an overwhelming sense of guilt and shame for betraying her "friend" and the family (KE relatives) that treated her like family. KE younger children probably thought of AY as a sister.

I'm.so.worried.

Question: Had Tad Cummings relationship been discovered when they disappeared? Or was it seemingly “out of the blue”? I think KE only decided to run because he got caught. And I too am beginning to worry about what else he will do to protect his own behind. The only one, right now that could attest to more serious charges prior to their disappearance is AY. I hope they find her soon.

Yes, the relationship with TC and MCET had come to light.

I believe TC decided to run because he was caught as well. A student saw ET and TC kiss in the classroom when they thought they were alone, a student walked up and saw it happen.

Things started to spiral out of control for TC, so he ran off with ET.

So yes, I believe they were both caught about a month prior to going on the run. Many parallels in these cases.

So many parallels!

Ages:

TC was 50 or 51 at the time, KE is 45
MCET was 15 almost 15, AY is barely 16

Marital status/kids
Both TC and KE were married with children, all daughters - 2 for TC and 4 for KE. TC has grandchildren, too.

Both TC and KE went to church with their victims.

Both TC and KE were caught due to incidents that occurred at their victim's schools.
