I believe they can determine paternity from the DNA of a child (or in this case fetus) but they would have to be able to extract a sample from the fetus and the father would have to be in a DNA databank to find a match.

Now that I look at the shoes and the sizes again, the smaller shoes are the ones with the backs "cut". So it would make sense that if she wore a larger shoe, they could still belong to her. I would say it's quite possible both pairs of shoes belonged to the victim.

joanne williams is not listed as ruled out, and i don't think anyone has mentioned her yet

height and weight same.

joanne was en route to dance class when she disappeared, and last seen wearing a leotard and jeans. coupled with the shoes (closed toe ones look like dance shoes) and extra change of clothing...seems like a possibility.

joanne's car and purse, etc were later found in her car in west scranton suggesting robbery was not motivating factor.

scranton and bucks county are about 2 hours away as the crow flies.

joanne did go missing in 1978 which would significantly earlier than namus suggests for UID. could be possible reason why they haven't looked at a possible match?

I am just wondering if the location in the pumphouse with water/oil residue would impact decomposition...

She does have that same narrow pointy jawline.

There's no DNA available so there's no CODIS rule-out.

Her dentals are available and entered in NamUs, so it should be an easy and quick check for the NamUs case manager.

Case History
The victim was located on January 24, 1988, when a man walking his dog discovered the skeletal remains in a valve/pumphouse at the old Publicker distillery property on State Road in Bensalem.
About 8 inches of water and oil fuel had to be pumped out of the vault-like structure to retrieve the remains.
The pumphouse, which is mostly underground, houses pipes and valves that connect to a concrete storage tank, which was once used to store distilled spirits that had been manufactured at the distillery. The distillery was closed down in the early 70s. In 1974, the six huge storage tanks on the property were being used to store fuel oil, which in all likelyhood was the cause of the oil found in the pumphouse. By the time the victim was found, the property had become an illegal dumping ground for stolen vehicles and was well known to local criminals.
Flyers with a picture of the above reconstruction were distributed to school guidance counselors and doctors' offices (particulary obstetrician/gynecologists), clinics and local police departments. Dental records were also distributed. There were, at the time, 50 missing person reports nationwide that fit the description of the woman, but all of them were eliminated from the investigation.

I wonder if there are any missing person reports filed between 1983 to 1987.

just read that tracy byrd has been definitively ruled out via dna, however the suspect in her case is from bucks county. not sure if this means SK, or not.

in the interest of continuing the dialogue, http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/riedling_susan.html

Susan Riedling lived a long distance, but in this case I am not sure that is necessarily meaningful.

She was pregnant in 1986 when she disappeared. There are some similarities with the dentals (crescent shaped front tooth visible in picture)

Hair, demographics seems to line up.

This could be Rose Marie Gayhart.

Description of teeth are similar (chip on front tooth , missing teeth) Both the missing person and UID were pregnant. Rose Marie Gayhart was living in Florida, perhaps on her way home in NY when she met with foul play.

I submitted a possible match to the Doe Network. I received a reply that one has already been submitted so others are looking into this. DNA is available for both the unidentified person and Rose Marie Gayhart, so a comparison can determine if this is Rose Marie Gayhart or not.

Hi All, What if Jane Doe was Jan Stonehouse (http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1268dfon.html)? The extra clothing and shoes could have belonged to her friend, Darlene Tucker (http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/246dfon.html), whom went missing a month before Jan disappeared.

I think it was the same person that abducted both girls and he went to the same high school. All of those payphone calls from Huntsville made by I think Darlene has something to do with her trust fund that her mother set aside for her. Still trying to get some more info on Jan Stonehouse. Have any questions about this please email me; empathic@bwieland.com

Here is another one and she would have been 23 if this had occurred back in 1983. She fits the description and the man said they were in Penn.

I don't see where Mary Frances Gregory was ever ruled out. Hmmmmm

Bump. I think Jinisina Stonehouse is a good match..although I don't know how she would end up in PA from Canada.

Quoting an old post to add that the I-95 is the main route from Oakille Ontario area to the south. The location of the body was by the I-95.

I think Tucker and Stonehouse should be looked at. Both were thought to have been pregnant when they left home together. Could also be why there are two possible shoe sizes, one from each girl. Height, weight, age matches both of them.

I don't see where Mary Frances Gregory was ever ruled out. Hmmmmm

There is no reason to think that Mary Francis was pregnant.

If her male acquaintance is being truthful, he dropped her off at a bus station in NV.

If her male acquaintance is lying, then she probably came to harm during their 10 day trip which wouldn't really give her time to end up 6 mos pregnant.

This could be Rose Marie Gayhart.

Did you ever receive an answer on this? I'm curious because Rose now has a forum set up & I'd like to try to track which UIDs are ruled out. Seems not to be in her NAMUS at this time. Thank you!

The only answer was that the possible match was submitted already by someone else.

Since Rose Marie Gayhart's family set up a facebook page, I will send a private message to them about the possible match.

I just don't see or think that a visibly pregnant woman would even want to wear high heels. Most women start showing a "baby bump" at about 4 months. The more pregnant you are, the more your balance is off (front-heavy). That baby bump is solid, like a basketball, not like a squishy beach ball. Also the further along a pregnant female is, the more feet and ankles tend to swell, by at least half a shoe size, if not more. JMHO.
