From the article above, the family statement:

“It is with heavy hearts and unspeakable sadness that we learned today of the death of our beloved son and brother, Paul. These are circumstances no family ever dreams of coping with. Though we are left with many questions, what we know for sure is Paul was the light of our lives, and we will not be the same without him.

“Paul loved Pittsburgh. Having traveled here repeatedly over the past four months as we held out hope in the search for Paul, it is clear to us why this community was so dear to him. In addition to family and friends, countless strangers embraced us and offered their love and support in helping us during this difficult time. There are no adequate words to express the gratitude we feel towards the Pittsburgh community.

“As we cope with this loss, we now ask that the media respect our privacy as our family grieves.”

:(

Sad, but expected outcome :(. I just heard it on the news. RIP, Paul.

Very sad. Hope his family gets answers & praying for strength for them.

Rest in Peace Paul and Andre
When I saw someone had posted on Facebook last night that one of the bodies was Paul's I was so sad. I am glad both families now has some sort of peace but upset that it had to be this way. I am sending positive vibes, prayers, good juju, and peace their way.

Really sad to hear the outcome, but glad to have an outcome. I couldn't stop wondering what had happened to Paul and why he hadn't been found. This is tragic for his family. I'm sending out good vibes. RIP.

"Wheeling police say the preliminary results of an autopsy, also by the medical examiner in Charleston, show he drowned. But Brackney said Kochu's cause of death was still being investigated until the "full autopsy" is complete, meaning the pending results of toxicology and other laboratory tests run on his remains."

I wonder how long it will be for a full report and if it will be made public? I'm thinking toxicology takes a month or more.

Same article from your link says that Paul left the bar with his friends at 1:45am and was seen about an hour later on video near the supermarket.
That's either Wrong Information or New correct information...

I think it's just sloppy reporting from a small paper that wasn't following this case, and a reporter had to put together an article quickly to meet the press deadline. I give the journalist credit for writing from scratch instead of just copying and pasting information from previous articles like we usually see.

I think we'll all agree that the 1:45 is incorrect. Some of the papers would do best by just reporting the new information rather than trying to give the background story and get it wrong.

Below is a link to new article dated today (3/27) from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette which I think is considered a more reliable source.

Excerpt: A preliminary autopsy indicates that drowning may have caused the death of Paul Kochu, a nurse who went missing from Pittsburgh's South Side in December, police said today.

Wheeling police Sgt. Gregg McKenzie said investigators are awaiting the results of additional tests, including a toxicology screen, ordered by the West Virginia medical examiner's office before officially ruling on the cause and manner of Mr. Kochu's death. Those tests could take several weeks to complete.

Pittsburgh police announced Thursday that dental records showed Mr. Kochu was the man found dead in the Ohio River in Wheeling last week.

What caught my eye, wasn't the time, but what was written in the article is that Paul left the bar with friends.

"Kochu was reported missing after he left a Pittsburgh bar with friends about 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 16."

As far as I am aware, Paul left the bar by himself.

I can see that through time there have been issues in various links about various information.

We may not hear much, if anything more. Not sure a tox report will tell them much. Results could still hint at accident or suicide, if he was intoxicated or if something else is found. Cause of death won't change. Manner may have to be "undetermined". Just extremely sad.

Tox could come back inconclusive. He was in the water for a long time and his body chemistry could have been flushed with water. Unless he remained frozen for the majority of the time and thus preserving bodily evidemce? Its hard to think about that.

Drowning is awful. It means they can tell he went into the water alive. I wonder if they could see a wrist injury?

With closure comes more questions. What happened to you Paul?!

Goodness, I had a suspicion but held out hope he was alive somewhere. Like many here, I too have found this hard to process. I really hope and pray his family and loved ones can find some peace in knowing where he is, and find a way to continue his memory forever.

Hugs and prayers for all!

Also from link, Snipped By Me:

"A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 301 Cherry Street, Pottstown, PA, on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:00 am with Rev. Nicholas de Prospero officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Pottstown, PA. "

So....will there be any more investigation into what happened or how he ended up in the water, or what happens now? I had seen numerous comments, where it was speculated that all LE was waiting for was for his body to surface, to be able to move forward with a prosecution. Now that he has been found, if LE was to have enough evidence to prosecute someone (or some people) how long would it usually be before we'd see that happen?

LE can't do anything until his full autopsy is complete. It could take months to get toxicology results back. And it's possible the autopsy won't reveal anything actionable, even if there was foul play, since he spent so much time in the water. This may be a we'll-never-know situation.

Imo, tox results won't tell them if he ingested drugs on purpose or if given by others anyway, even if they come back positive. I think between interviews and searching for video, they have done all the investigating they can do. Jmo
