Hammer's preliminary hearing has been moved to 4/9/2019.

The day of the murder she received a notice that she was 725 days overdue on the restitution she was required to pay after being entered into the ARD program for stealing a car in Beaver County in 2016. She was scheduled to have a hearing about her parole violation on 10/23/2018. She is now kicked out of the ARD program, so she will also be facing additional punishments for that old charge.

Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) is a pre-trial program in PA. It's kind of like probation and is available to non-violent offenders without a record or with only a few prior charges.

She owed $4,587 and only managed to make $100 in payments.

Based on the entries on his docket, Procopio wants to represent himself, which seems like a horrible idea. Correspondence relating to that was filed on 3/13/2019. They've also left the option open to push the trial back farther, so we should probably expect it to.

Nothing for Cooper, except that some information was filed by the state on 3/27, which I'm guessing was the transcripts from his preliminary hearing.

Triple homicide suspect released, charges dropped

After about five delays in her preliminary hearing as a suspect in a triple murder, Jody Hammer won't be having her day in court after all.

The Lawrence County District Attorney's office and New Castle police have withdrawn the charges against Hammer and she was released from the Lawrence County jail Monday afternoon.

District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa, who is prosecuting the case, was mum about the reasons for freeing her.

"The district attorney's office cannot comment at this time regarding the circumstances surrounding her release," he said Monday afternoon.

Cooper's arraignment happened as expected. He filed to waive his right to appear on 4/4. His trial is now scheduled for 5/6/2019.

He was transferred to Mercer County Jail on 3/22/2019. Mercer County neighbors Lawrence County to the north. It's only about a half hour trip to go to one jail to the other.

I was hoping that Procopio's docket would be updated by today, but it hasn't. I am leaning towards thinking that the trial is not happening, even though they still have it on the calendar for 4/8. A lot has happened recently. On 4/3, his lawyer requested to be paid by the county, which makes me think that he may be going through with representing himself. On 4/4, a search warrant application was submitted.

I would expect the local news to be tweeting if Cooper's trial was happening, so I'm thinking it has been pushed back but there's nothing about it on the court's website yet.
