I am of the opinion that Judge Sauer is not motivated by political power or money, rather he has dedicated himself to the law (modestly and without publicity) throughout his career. He must have thought about the personal consequences of rendering such a sentence to Ms. Hilton. I respect this judge and his motives.

Siren, I agree with everything you've said here. I think the Judge was trying to make a difference in the life of PH since her parents are basically worthless. I doubt though, that this will make a difference in this spoiled princess's life... because mommy and daddy need to change and I cannot see that happening.

Only time will tell if this short "intervention" will have any lasting effect on Ms. Hilton. I pray that she takes this opportunity to do more with her life. She has limitless opportunities. I feel sorry for Ms. Hilton. MagicRose99, you are right on is stating that Mommy and Daddy need to change. They have instilled this sense of entitlement in their daughter and unfortunately, the court has become her "parents" and has demonstrated more parental concern and limits than her own parents.

I have a son the same age as Ms. Hilton and due to his employment, has been known to socialize in the same circles as Ms. Hilton. It's difficult to grow up in LA. The money, power, drugs, parties, sex, etc. However, my son is scared to death of ending up in LA Co Jail with a DUI! He takes taxis and has a circle of friends that establishes a DD before partying. (The DD is paid highly for his/her sobriety!)

I feel sorry for Ms. Hilton. She has limitless opportunities in her future. What she does with her life and those opportunities will ultimately determine the merit of her character. This incarceration has served as detox from her partying ways and will establish a routine of three squares a day, one hour of exercise per day, plenty of water, and sleep expected at normal times. (Don't tell me about the noise and distubing environment, it's no different than being in the hospital....constant noise, sleep disrupted by noise and the environment, etc. )

No one debates the denial of house arrest to Ms. Hilton. The closet in her home is bigger than her double occupancy cell at the jail! Due to her own safety and the potential for exploitation, a halfway house or community service would not have been appropriate. That only left the judge with confinement in the La Co jail system.

I think her sentence was harsh, relative to other inmates time served. Not harsh in terms of sentencing in general. LA County is a mess. Their sentencing structure is a disaster due to the overcrowding in the US's largest jail system. I do not support reduced sentencing in any way shape or form. A lot of this has to do with the number of illegal aliens clogging up our system and the gridlock in our courts. NINETY PERCENT of inmates are in pre-trial status! They haven't even been convicted yet!
Also this analysis was based on probation violations , that is, driving with a suspended license while on DUI probation. Which means they all thought the law didn't apply to them or that they were above the law and drove against court order. Paris is cetainly not the only one with that attitude.

I think PH is a big zero. but I also think this thing was blown way out of proportion, by everyone involved.

I agree. She received a harsher sentence than she should have at a rate that the taxpayers shouldn't have to pick up. I would have rather seen her family make a SIZEABLE contribution to the victims compensation and allowed her to remain under house arrest. She's not selling drugs. She's not robbing banks. She's not selling child *advertiser censored*. She's not a danger to society. Take away her license for three years and let the beyotch pay a fine.

She'd still be driving then. If she can get off with house arrest and a fine (which doesn't mean anything to her) - she'll still be driving, just as she did after her first and second warnings. When she was arrested last, she was doing 70 MPH in a 40 MPH zone, with her lights out. She's a real danger to society - IMO.

I'm sorry, I'm sooooo sorry...

But I needed a place to respond to this from JBean:
Good reasearch, finding that. This means, to me, that Paris is serving the same sentence or less as 20% of all similar criminals. Sounds to me like nothing unexpected or wrong.

What her lawyer didn't say was what "similar situation" means. Paris was busted TWICE after her DUI for driving on a suspended license. She may be doing more time than someone on a DUI or for driving on a suspended license. But she clearly showed she has NO respect for the law. And it's not like she was driving on a suspended license to get to a job to support a family. I just never could stand her.:loser:

Not necessarily. The girl can't even fart without it being written about in 25 languages. Besides, with an ankle monitor, they would know if she even left her house. Besides, the fine might not mean anything to her, but it might mean something to someone who needs it. The states keep a portion of the fines in a victims compensation account and its used for counselling, funerals and other expenses of victims of violent crimes. I think something good can come out of this, besides, making her a bigger name than she already is.

Jail visits send Paris Hilton's sister into hysterics

From our ANI Correspondent

Washington, June 16: Imprisoned hotel heiress Paris Hilton's mother Kathy says that jail visits have sent her younger daughter, Nicky, into hysterics.

She admitted that her family had been finding the experience of jail visits very terrible.

"It's tough. It is. It's just one hour a week: 30 minutes on Sunday and 30 minutes on Tuesday. We talk through glass," People magazine quoted Kathy, who saw her daughter on Tuesday, as saying.

"And this one left in hysterics. Nicky tried to keep the brave face but - I never see Nicky cry," Kathy added gesturing to Nicky.

For a moment there I thought Nicky might have been laughing hysterically.

heehee hi J-1:blowkiss:

Hey J-2! (:blowkiss: )

I also like the part with Kathy's observation:

"Kathy also stressed the need for financial help for the jails, bemoaning about what was going in there."

I think Paris should make a sizeable donation after she's released. I think it's time for her to take up a 'cause' and do something meaningful in her life.

I also thought it was odd that Kathy has never seen her daughter Nicky cry. I can't grasp what kind of world these people live in. No emotion? No stress? I've got a 20 yr old daughter and she's cried a river in her short lifetime!

I don't know, I've never been a crier-I save mine for really serious occasions-they mean more then. I am just curious about all of the reports saying that since Paris is going to serve so much time that her popularity rating is expected to go through the roof.:waitasec:

Excellent suggestion . And I agree.

I do not cry often either T93. but still, it would be odd to have never seen your daughter cry. I have even seen my boys cry.

Yes, I am being judgmental, but!
I can't believe mom and pop Hilton are still shopping for the highest bidder in Vegas to host Paris' "welcome home" bash!

Seriously, this is a top priority for them right now? :furious:

Quite a different party for a "Coming Out Party" for the rich and famous wouldn't you say.

LOL, why yes it is!
It's times such as this that I'm glad I'm not living in their type of world.

Hi Dep!:blowkiss: I think it's typical for some of these families - the only way they can show their love is with money. My daughter has a friend who failed her first year of University. She (the daughter) put on a few tears and the parents bought her a car!

Thanks, Close!

I'm bummed Sat Night Live isn't doing new shows right now - I just know they'd be all over this, LOL. Yep, that may be bad of me...
