WHOA! That sermon sounds a lot like a laundry list of his wife's faults. Kind of like a preemptive justification. Your know how controlling husbands come back with the she changed, new clothes, friends I didn't like, wanted her own life, stopped believing what I told her to believe....

And he doesn't want anyone to have access to her while she's like this? Is that because she is no longer alive?

Agreed, either she is dead or she has been involunatrily committed for not being the wife he expects imo. In one of those 'pay enough bucks and everything is a psych illness; places

Well, if she's ok, she should sue him for slander. Talk about telling your business, sheesh.

So...he's part of the Prosperity/TBN movement...if he was being honorable, he would have just indicated treatment for a private issue, and worked with bringing her back into church (not necessarily ministry.)

Probably locally, it's an open secret and he had to address it.

It doesn't sound like anyone FROM there thinks she's missing, just those from the outside looking in.

It should be a private matter, and he shouldn't air her dirty laundry without expecting his to be aired.

I am not sure that I can link to them because they aren't huge media sources and are similar to a source that was mod snipped from my first post, but if you Google this pastor, you will find where *he* admits to having a past *advertiser censored* addiction.(Therefore,mI won't link to it because I do not intend to violate TOS, then again, I want to prove what I'm stating here so I'm not seen as just tossing accusations.) It seems though, this may have become more of a joke over the years, something he would joke to his congregation that his wife had to "deal with", minimizing his own actions much like what he did in the aforementioned articles in this thread. The only places I can find *him*, and I emphasize him because it's "from the horse's mouth", referencing his *advertiser censored* addiction is in religious media outlets, not MSM. It's information that adds another layer to this.

(FWIW, I'm glad the second source I noted in my original post was mod edited, makes me feel great about the quality control here because that type of site can be highly prejudicial and inflammatory, just by its being religious. I only cited it to show two sides of a coin, a conservative, religious one, from the perspective of the pastor's community and one that was MSM so it didn't seem I was trying to tar and feather the man based solely on sources polar opposite to his outlook.)

As far as I'm concerned, mega churches are a joke. Take Robert Schuller. . .please.

No good, Christian man would EVER pillar his wife before the congregation.

A *advertiser censored* addiction, pardon me while I puke listening to his "sermons".

As far as I'm concerned, "organized religions/churches" are nowhere I would ever step foot into. To me, this is a good example why, but there are many others, and some of those cases have been discussed here.

Just my opinion of organized religion, pastors with a past of possible iffy behavior, and men who put down their wives from the pulpit.

Absolutely agree with you, we're on the same page per thoughts on organized religion and what this man did to his wife in front of their congregation. Regardless of religious beliefs or lack thereof, making a public funeral pyre of someone after they go away and aren't there to speak their half is disgusting and dehumanizing, a person shouldn't need religion to tell them that's wrong, they should measure it by how it would feel to have it done to them.

Has anyone actually spoken with the wife, though? I have half a mind to call law enforcement down there and ask someone other than the 'good pastor' give a current account of her.

Is this guy for real?!?!?

The therapist told him "This was the worst case he had ever seen" ???

I hope someone (credible) has heard from his wife!

I did something I've only done one other time, I contacted local law enforcement, submitting an online "crime tip" and disclosing my concerns. I hope I sounded sane and well-spoken and perhaps it will be verified she's okay, beyond him saying, "Her mom spoke to her..."

I hope I'm being over-reactive and he's just, well, whatever you'd like to call this behavior of his, I'll leave it to each person to label. :-D as my diplomatic act for the day. LOL!

I find this whole sordid episode in keeping in one way or another with the two brief words of John 11:35.

I attend a mega church, I rather like it.
*advertiser censored* addiction is sneaky and I don't fault for that, it's the public humiliation that I find fault.

I hope somebody in law enforcement or private detective confirms that the woman is in treatment. She had to have a whole set of other friends and lifestyle because none of the church members would have a clue. I wouldn't buy it unless a detective speaks to her in person and she proves identity. Mega church = mega money.

He is certainly not a Christian in my book and I am a ministers daughter. JMO, a true Christian would never have thrown his dirty laundry around in public or said such things about his wife in public. There was a much better, more classy way to just say that he and his wife were divorcing but only after they had truly tried to make it work. There is no shame in divorce, IMO.

Both of these people seem and look fake. Way too much vanity going on in that pic!

MOO, MOO, MOO!

seems like it would be so easy to verify where this woman is. Is no one else worried where she is? I know the church flock does not appear to be concerned, but someone has to be, right? One year of treatment? Come on - she has got to be pretty "sick" for that term of confinement.

And why in Texas?? That's just so weird. S.C., I'm sure, has rehab services? No?

I have never heard of inpatient facilities needing a year. Am I naive?

I looked it up last night, drug and alcohol can be a year (and sex addiction clinics that run concurrent with drug/alcohol programs)

If she had a mental illness that wasn't being treated, who knows?

Thank you! :scared:

I am sure some places would sell a 5 year rehabilitation plan if they could.
