Great post (as usual) !

With the interviews I guess it was bound to happen - something had to slip out.

Having Burke interviewed and thus becoming a public figure will be the "undoing" of J.R.

I think L.W. automatically hits some "sue them" button beside his lazyboy chair. How can that happen - with Burke and J.R. being deposed?

I do believe we will soon see the unraveling of J.R.'s lies and this "unsolved mystery". The lies which have been wound so tight will begin to unravel.

I agree. I think he/she would be happy to know that the evidence we are now seeing supports what he/she was trying to tell WS long ago ... wow, that was over 12.5 years ago. This is so sad.

It also makes me want to point out that all this information was available. We didn't have the missing pieces of the puzzle until BR spoke to Dr Phil. Why is Lin Wood threatening to sue CBS for "In the Case of"? What an idiot - he should tell his clients to shut up and stop with the lawsuits. They all just look silly now.

Brilliant !

I would love for that to happen, but I suspect lw is just looking for a quick settlement, even if CBS gives him a million to go away, so what. They made millions in ad revenue off the show. Not to mention, money for the sell to Netflix or some other outlet, I'm hearing Netflix. I just can't see Burke taking the stand, even if he didn't do it ( I've believe he did most of it) he looks like he did it. He'll unravel on the stand, he dropped a couple of bombshells on the friendly DP show.
He said he was down stairs that night, he said he might of ate pineapple with JB and that the boot print could of been his.

I've said for years, if Burke ever starts talking we will find out the truth. If I know that, you know jr and lw know that. Jmo.

Oh, yeah, that mischievous, "Maybe?" when asked if he ate pineapple with his sister that day!! LOL "Do you remember if you ate something 20 years ago?" The pineapple is a critical aspect to the case and there he is, not denying it as his parents always have...oh dear...

Excellent points BRDotson!

I don't know why but I keep forgetting that L.W. just goes for the "settlements". I get this idea in my head that J.R. and B.R. will be deposed and
then all the deceit fades and the truth comes forward. I guess I can always hope for the truth to come out!

So via Dr Phil, we have BR discussing:

1. Pineapple
2. Up after 10pm
3. Boots
4. Flashlight
5. Indifference to her death

He alone, with his own words, solidified the BDI camp.

It really was amazing, he did a great job setting up the CBS special. I can't imagine how Lin Wood or John thought this was a good idea, although if he got paid for doing the interview, I can easily imagine how Burke would think it was a great idea.

I wonder if JR came into the picture to try to control what Burke said/did, just in case. I mean it was slated as BR exclusively, and suddenly there was JR, putting himself into the picture as well. A two-fer, if you will. Which does make one wonder...what is he afraid of?? Is it too much to hope for that when JR is finally gone, Burke might just talk?

Agree. This was Burke's idea and Lin Wood couldn't stop him. I think it's easy to forget he's a nearly 30 year old man. Not just because he's frozen in history in 1996, but also because he came across as such a juvenile, even visually what with his pretty, youthful face and boys' regular haircut.

Burke was told that CBS was going to paint him - or even directly point the finger at him - as the murderer and he decided to show the world what a normal guy he is first. Except he isn't and he didn't. And by doing the interview he not only damaged his own reputation further, he made it much harder for Lin Wood to prevail in a defamation lawsuit against CBS. No wonder Lin has been throwing tantrums for weeks....

I agree that it did make it much harder for Lin Wood to prevail in a defamation suit because of the interview. It seems, though, that JR must have given his blessing for Burke to do the interview as he made an appearance himself. Very odd. Even odder is that LW and DP are old friends. So who thought doing the interview before the CBS documentary was a good idea?

It could be that money was the deciding factor. DP may have thrown A LOT of money their way, perhaps even millions, in exchange for the interview. DP may have promised to present B in the best possible light and to defend him. And perhaps JR is past the point of caring what the public thinks anymore? He did say this would be the last interview he would ever give, so he seems to be done with it all. Just take the money and run?

George and Cindy Anthony's charity received a $600,000 payment after they gave him an interview a few years ago. I don't think it would be a stretch to think that DP would hand out a million plus in exchange for B's interview. That would go a long way to help set B up for life.

johnjay,
BR likely thinks what he revealed is no big deal, since he probably told the GJ similar information? I'm guessing that CBS were ready to make specific allegations about BR based on some forensic evidence, and so he appears on Dr Phil, put himself in the frame and nullifies the CBS claims, so they had to drop the third episode since LW said he would sue?

.

I think JR knows he is unlikely to ever be prosecuted. There is scant evidence that one could use to convict him of murder and the statue of limitations has passed for his involvement with staging etc. Even if someone was bold enough to try and bring a case against him he would just blame his late wife. Nice to have a Patsy....

As for BR's motivations, money alone must be enough. He sure as hell didn't save his reputation.

I remember Steve Thomas in chat saying that one of the reasons the BPD felt Burke had nothing to do with the crime was that The Ramseys shipped him off to an unsecured location that morning instead of keeping him at home where they could have had control over him. So it looks like the Ramseys pushed the right button on that one. The BPD was too inexperienced to look at the alternative, which would have been keeping Burke in a house where a body was about to be discovered, and a lot more cops would be showing up.
This is a very intriguing comment in a thread full of great comments. As for BR's possible bootprint in the WC and BR's mention of being in the WC and of the bootprint in the DP interview - did BR wear those boots to the dinner at the Fleet house? Was BR still wearing his clothes and his boots in the later evening at home when JBR was murdered? Were the R's in the habit of wearing shoes and boots while relaxing inside their home? If BR, as he alludes, snuck out of bed to play with toys downstairs and in the basement, did he put his boots back on with his pajamas - wouldn't he wear slippers/socks/booties instead of shoes? I guess I am questioning whether any R's shoeprints in the basement matter since they live there, and for BDI, he was wearing his boots in the basment in the middle of night?

Pretty funny that Burke said on camera that he had gone downstairs after everyone had gone to bed, to play with a toy. WOOPSIE, he just admitted he was in the scene of the crime about the time the whole thing started. Yeah, Lin Wood, that was a brilliant idea, to let him go on camera in front of the world and admit that he wasn't sleeping all night peacefully in his room after all....

I'm so critical of everything. Who's to say this was a slip? This wasn't a deposition. Burke had all the time in the world to prepare for this interview. He could have had coaching long before the interview had ever taken place. He also had the right to lie. An interview with a celebrity doesn't carry the same consequences. Yes, what he says on camera can be used against him, but he can't be convicted of this crime.

I'm going to say something crazy, but what if Burke was determined to say this before the interview ever took place? He didn't need to say it at all. It would have been a question that would have gone nowhere and been edited out of the program. Seriously, does anyone think Burke walked into that interview, an interview that included LW and JR, without full prep?

Blue Crab was always one of my favorite members [emoji22]

What happened to Blue Crab? Did he/she pass away or something? I've seen her/him mentioned in a lot of these threads and other places.

But it's not like Burke "controlled the narrative" by going on Dr. Phil. Doing it for the money makes more sense to me, especially since we now have rumors that he was looking for a big payday interview opportunity.
