I'm really confused about DB not testifying as well...Why was it not discussed at all in today's proceedings???

I believe Nurmi did address it. He said they would not put any more witnesses on to be questioned by JM. That was the nice version. Not sure of the exact term Nurmi used but he's upset and sensitive with JM for being overly critical about his witnesses' backgrounds. Not sure why Nurmi would expect anyone who had ever known Jodi to testify on her behalf after what she has done, much less commit perjury for her.

Nurmi stated to the judge today he has no idea where JM came up with the fact that PW had stated previously that she and Jodi had a good childhood. Under oath, no. But she did state that in a number of videos. Nurmi's mad because the jury would have heard PW say that for money and now she wanted to change that statement. I guess it is easier to get mad at JM than to get mad at their own witnesses, unless everything went down the way it was suppose to and it was a defense tactic. I can't believe that someone on either JW's staff or KN's staff, including the mitigation specialist did not bother to watch PW on those videos. Please.

I know you're joking, but I honestly think DB has to be the most clueless person on the planet. Did he not look at the pictures of what she did to Travis? Did he not hear the descriptions of what she did to Travis?

I don't care how loving she "pretended" to be when he knew her. If I heard an ex-boyfriend of mine had done something like this, and I saw pictures and understood the overwhelming evidence, I would never support them.

And I don't think for one minute that he doesn't understand her true nature. Anyone who spent as much time with her as he did had to have seen her facade slip from time to time.

She puts on a pretty good show, but even the best actors slip up from time to time. And she ain't no great actor. Her first days on the stand alone were what convinced me of her guilt. I had not seen any of the photos and I hadn't heard of the case before. But when I saw her on the stand, my instincts screamed "she's lying!"

So, why did Nurmi bring up the media and fair trial today?

If that was to be brought up, it wouldn't be now. Now it too late. (We all know JA wants the media attention, that is not part of the question.)

However, what does it have to do with the current jury and any decisions they have made and will make? What happened to bring that into today's argument?

One word.....DESPERATION. They reek of it. Wilmott looked like a deer in the headlights today. I don't understand why they continue to make the whole thing so personal. Twelve people decided she was guilty based on the evidence and testimony allowed at trial, not on the personalities of the attorneys involved. If I were a juror in this trial I would be so angry at the insults the defense continues to heap on my integrity and intelligence.

I think the shananigans in court this morning will (again) backfire on the defense. They need to wrap this up and move on before they totally destroy their professional credibility...if they haven't already.

That act Nurmi put on, where he huffed and puffed and stomped out of the court, should not be grounds for an appeal. I don't see JSS' rulings = KN/JW unable to provide effective counsel. IMO

GREAT POST!! Nurmi was whining and throwing a hissy fit over Juan's ability to impeach Nurmi's witnesses. So it's Juan's fault that Nurmi isn't an effective lawyer. Just like it was Juan's fault that Jodi wasn't effective on the witness stand. I think the DT is spending WAY too much time together!!!!!

I wondered what Nurmi was asking for last - a stay to seek emergency relief. JSS denied this too.

A stay to seek emergency relief means that the trial proceedings would be halted while the defense goes to a higher court to ask for one or more of JSS's rulings to be overturned.

If I ever commit a crime and need people to stand up for me, I hope I have loved ones in friends and family that can and will speak out on my behalf even if they have a record.

If I was on this jury I would want Jodi's mom and dad on the stand for her. It wouldn't matter if they hit her. I'd know why the did, but I'd still expect someone in her family to voice their love for her. To at least ask for mercy in LWOP instead of death. BUT is speaks volumes in not one person in her own family has done this. No friends, no family makes you wonder why.

I don't think Jodi's Mom abandoned her... Since the jury obviously didn't believe Jodi was a victim of Travis' ... Jodi and her team hold onto some hope that they may believe she was a victim of childhood abuse, neglect, abandonment. Can't very well have Jodi's Mom get up there and call her out on that BS. JMO

no, because they set this up to throw the big fit in court, try to withdraw, ask to appeal to a higher court and then announce there would be no more mitigation witnesses. this will all be part of her appeal.

They could try filing an Emergency Appeal with the appellate court. We'll see if they do. The proof is in the pudding.
