I can assure you as hard as the waiting is for us, it is NOTHING compared to the attorneys whose stomachs are churning and they jump out of their skin with every text alert or phone call.
I will say that even the attorneys feel that a verdict is very close or they would not be hanging around that courthouse all day long...especially since the lunch break. They know this jury is very close to rendering some verdicts. Otherwise they would be anywhere else. Nothing is worse than sitting around the courthouse just waiting...there is a reason they are staying so close. They could be at their office, hanging out at the pool trying to keep their minds occupied on anything else... but they are outside the courthouse smoking. fwiw (and not much other than my professional opinion) As a paralegal, I read a lot into that. lol
Can you write one like that for my derby team? They actually expect me to practice in 3 hours and play an away game tomorrow. That just ain't cool. :maddening:
I can't imagine why they'd need to have a "show of force" ready for a guilty verdict.
I really hope they aren't anticipating a not guilty. I can see how that would upset a lot of people, and rightfully so!
A bit selfish on my part, but I hope for a verdict before the day ends. DH and I leave tomorrow morning for a long weekend on Mackinac Island and will not have internet access. We'd learn about the verdict on TV, but I'd miss not being here to discuss the verdict with my fellow 'Sleuthers.

For those in the legal profession, does a Judge typically get a "progress update" (for lack of a better phrase) from the jury as to how far along they are in their deliberations? Or is he/she as in the dark as we are? I'm wondering if there is a balance between being able to prepare properly operationally vs. making the jurors feel rushed/hurried/pressured... Also, if that's why the attorneys know to stick around, etc.
Gulp! And lots of good thoughts for the dedicated jurors...
