A little boy and his brother at my daughter's school are JW. They have to leave the class whenever there are birthday celebrations. They aren't going to the Pumpkin Patch either...

great so that means jaycee's 30th birthday will be the first celebrated since she was 11 :(

So, I did buy my first ever copy of New Idea. It's interesting that Jaycee has not celebrated a Christmas since she was 10. And the girls have never known one. Jehovah's Witness don't celebrate Christmas. Or Easter or Birthdays. Wow. The girls are in for a treat this Christmas. I bet it will be a whopping big family get-together and the girls will probably get showered with more gifts than they have in all their lives. Good for them.

Thanks, Pete. I was thinking about this the other day. The holidays will be perfect for making the girls more comfy with their new family. JC already knows about the holiday season and birthdays and what comes with them, but for the girls the holidays will be a new experience for them and IMO a way better alternative to what they're used to of days just like any other days. I'm so excited for all of them.
I also wondered if Terry bought JC gifts every year and saved them. It would be neat to be able to finally give her 18 years of Christmas presents. And 18 years of birthday presents. Can you imagine a moment like that?
I began to think of other parents of missing children and if they buy gifts every year, too. I would, without a doubt. Maybe someday they'll be able to give their babies all the gifts they've been saving. I hope.

like i said i hope jaycee hits the jackpot ;)
i remember reading in the 1991 people issue that terry kept jaycees stuffed animals on her bed the exact way she left them that morning. so it wouldnt really surprise me if she did buy presents and keep them all these years

Reconciling receiving gifts and celebrating Christmas with the religious beliefs PG must have instilled in them may be difficult. I'm sure he crammed his form of religion down their throats and imagine it was a large part of their life. Living with PG and probably both Nancy and Patricia's fanaticism, in his sick form especially, would have been a terror in itself. I want to believe that everything is wonderful and their life is like it's portrayed in the current media, but I can't pretend to. I think the holidays are going to be very difficult and hopefully the judge will be sympathetic enough to postpone everything until they're over.

Even if she had been allowed birthday parties they could not have been much of a celebration. But this one will be! :woohoo:

christmas will be even better :)

i dont think 'difficult". maybe 'diffrent". if jaycee and terry prepare the girls it will probably go alot easier

besides christmas isnt so much about religion as it is about family.

Publix had plenty of copies when I got mine on Friday. It was nice to see them all so happy. I know they all still have many obstacles to overcome but I know that they will be able to, together as a loving family.

I hope JC was well compensated for sharing this, she deserves it! I'm still going to continue donating to JC's trust fund and I'm really happy that People magazine included the address.

FTR: Blond isn't the only hair color that changes with age. My hair was light brown when I was a kid and now it's black.

:furious:All the stores I asked about it said they received between 13-20 copies!!! It just doesn't make any sense!:furious:
Did you try your local library? They almost always carry the the top magazines.
At least you'd be able to read it.

The Watchtower organization of Jehovah's Witnesses prohibits the celebration of 'secular' festivals including Christmas and birthdays:

http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/celebrations.php

I'm sure PG was even more fanatical about this.... So this could likely be the first birthday she's had in some time, and the first ever Christmas and birthdays the girls have celebrated. That is, IF they would be comfortable doing so... they may still consider this something sinful.

I'm VERY interested, when the time comes, to hear about JC's faith journey through all this...

EDT: Another thread, discussing JW non-celebration of birthdays, etc:

WAS JP a JW? how do we know that?
I thought he had his won strange religion.
The way I know it JW do not think God talks to them through a box.

Many news reports have reported the basic facts of PG's conversion to JW while in prison, and that NG, who was also a long-time JW, continued to support his beliefs. They were reported to be faithful practitioners (on the surface) for many years - it was only in the last few years that he started going off the deep-end, at least publicly (we can take it as an assumption that he was off the deep-end for decades before that).

Yes, he did stray and invent his own religion, which branched off of JW. His manifestos have very little to do with Watchtower teachings. But, just like David Koresh's religion was based on Seventh-Day Adventism, and Brian David Mitchell's Fundimentalist Mormanism was based on Latter-Day Saint teachings, Phillip Garrido's home-made religion was based on Jehovah's Witness's Watchtower. So, many of JW's core beliefs and assumptions were likely incorporated into PGs delusion.

I am not sure it is any of our business...

Yep, not our business. But, it is easy to figure out the basics.

For example, between People, New Idea, that other one magazine, and book deal, she will be living off a MINIMUM of $30,000.00 per MONTH of INTEREST only!

Here's another example, assuming Jaycee lives to be 80 years old, she will have a MINIMUM of $25,000.00 per month just with the principle.

Total the two, and you're living with $50k per month.

All this is based upon a low ball estimate of ~$14 million total.

She is one very eligible bachelorette.
