I forgot all about that. I think that you might have posted that when this all first happened. The hotel actually doesn't look that seedy to me. The hallways seem to be freshly painted, the floors waxed to a shine. The bars on the windows are very off-putting however. I wonder if their purpose is to prevent people from jumping after they have lost heavily in the casinos.

While looking for reviews for this hotel, I just came across one that made me fall on the floor laughing. Check out the first review...

From reviewer purporting to be JVDS"

Stayed here some nights in May 2010 while playing poker in a nearby casino. Hotel staff is friendly. The room is cheap, around 20 us$. It also looks cheap. The hotel is dirty. The staff is really bad. My room was not cleaned for several days and I did not even hang a label of "do not disturb". Coffee and cake across the street is nice. Taxi rides are a complete rip off in this country. Hotel makes no problem bringing women to your room (it's a shabby place). Free internet turns out to be expensive. I will not be sleeping here anymore.

Clark Goldband [the guy doing the tele-illustrator on NG] has a voice that reminds me of an old-time radio announcer.

I still think she was already dead when he went out for coffee; and the two cups were a ruse. MOO

I agree with you and some other posters. I think the Flores family stated their sister was tortured. I believe that now. There is a window of 3 hours prior to this coffee video. I think they entered Room 309, sat down on the bed, started playing online poker, and wham he hit her in the head with his elbow. He probably had her in a head lock to get her pin numbers, then just finished her off. He took the rest of the time to clean the room, himself, and plan his escape. The coffee video is most deffinitely a ruse to make it look like a/someone else killed her in case they were overheard b/for his alibi.

Just throwing some thoughts here, feel free to disregard...

Imho, Mr. Flores is aware of what his daughter was subjected to and having a closed casket funeral can be such an awful event for many people. I've only been to one and the family was despondent about having to do so. Not sure how that plays out for other people in other countries but here it's very difficult. I had one friend who was hit by a truck and it was still an open casket wake.

But in light of Mr. Flores knowing what was done to his daughter and his connections, I do feel he will have much influence over what happens at Joran's trial.

So it's official. Joran did go out for coffee. That makes what Jean C. reported last week accurate that there were two containers of coffee in the room. That also makes Joran's statement that he killed Stephany after he returned from getting the coffee, a complete lie. She was dead already. He killed her, cleaned up, changed clothes and then went out for coffee. Somehow, I think that Joran was unsure about the video camera. He might not have known of its presence until we see him with coffee in hand looking directly at it. Even then, he might have thought it wasn't working, or was working and recorded over rapidly. Anyway, he's caught in yet another lie.

Yep!~

The blood was everywhere in the room.
Was not just an elbow to her.
We want everyone to see how incredibly violent this was.

Last night, my 19 y/o brother was violently hit in the head by his neighbor with a baseball bat. He has a crushed skull and had to have emergency brain surgery this morning. He is breathing on his own now, and responding to commands to move his toes. We believe he is going to be okay.

I don't want or need anyone's sympathy, so please continue to keep this thread on topic and about Joran and his murderous behavior. The only reason I'm even mentioning this to WS'ers is because my brother is going to LIVE through such a brutal attack.

Stephany might have lived through her blunt force trauma, too, if Joran didn't elect to strangle her and then sufficate her with his shirt after he bashed her head. I whole heartedly believe he is finally telling the truth about this life ending event.

As brutal as my brother's attack was last night, his attack was small change compared to what Joran did to Stephany. I hope Joran never walks this earth as a free man, again.

I don't live in the same state as my little bro, but my mom and brother have both told me that my lil' brother's eyes are swollen shut and that his head is extremely swollen and that he looks TERRIBLE. One hit from a baseball bat.

From the reports I read about Stephany's remain's, is that she is black and blue all over. This would indicate a huge struggle. IMO.

My biggest question is why those missing pictures have been kept from everyone. There has to be a reason. Things that make you go hmmmm--her father said they don't know when he went out for coffee but the receipt was in the room. Now, my impression of the father is that he was given as much info as they had. Why wouldn't he know when Joran went out for coffee? It's right there with a time stamp. Why can't we see who else went in and out of that room in the 24 hour
period? Just wondering.

So, I'm wondering... Is it the consensus now that the date (five years to the day from Natalee's disappearance) is purely coincidental?

With all the theories (robbery, gambling addiction, hair trigger temper, sexual assault, etc.), some of which I agree with, I still can't get past the overwhelming odds that it happened on exactly that date.

At NO time, did JVDS show any remorse throughout this horrific murder. I agree completely!~

I'm not sure we'll ever know for sure, Suzihawk. My opinion is that Joran was a pressure cooker of rage and that the FBI sting operation, the poker tournament and the anniversary of NH's disappearance, triggered his murderous rage. I personally don't think he planned on killing Stephany that day. He just did and he just couldn't help himself because of his emotional, financial, and lack of moral character desperation.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it was and wasn't May 30th that made him murder Stephany.

Maybe it's just karma bitting Joran in the azz. Poor Stephany, though. So sad.

Thanks, krowdkat. That's as good as any explanation we'll ever have, I reckon. It's such so bizarre. You can't make this stuff up.

Good evening all!

I have been traveling for work for the past three days and haven't had a chance to get caught up on everything, but I have a quick question...

I have heard conflicting reports that Joran's original attorney quit and then I heard he was back on the case and also heard that Cesar "can't remeber his last name" was on the case....

TIA for anyone willingly to clarify for me!!

Oh my goodness - know that my thoughts are with you and your family.

And, wow, what you said really puts things in perspective for what Stephany really did endure....:furious:

All things considered, I think Stephany's death resulted from a failed sexual pass. I think Joran made a pass at her, she resisted, they began physically fighting and he killed her in a rage at being sexually rejected. I can't see him with premeditation bringing her back to his hotel room to rob and kill her no matter how desperate he was for money. That makes no sense. He would know that he would never get away with that. The big red flag here is that Stephany's pants were off. When he was asked by interrogators why he removed her pants he said he didn't know. Well, I think he did know. He would just never admit that though.
