ITA, there is no chance in HELL that this guy sees the outside of a prison ever again IMO. No judge / court on earth would risk it. They'll find things to keep him stitched up forever if this one isn't enough to keep him in Peru for life. (He may of course commit more crimes 'on the inside' due to his propensity to violence which could keep him inside, I can totally see that happening.)

Here in Australia we have an option called imprisonment 'at her Magesty's pleasure' which basically means that you're imprisoned until further notice, and we'll decide when you get out, usually used for vicious criminals who the courts believe to be at a risk of re-offending for a crime which doesn't attract a life sentence, or for murderers who win a successful insanity plea.

Does the US have anything similar....assuming he ends up over there after his sentence in Peru is served for the embezzlement?

Hi Mrs. N. As to your first paragraph... I totally agree, but from your fingers to God's ear, just in case. ;)

We don't have anything like that in the US. I like the idea, though. I have to say it sounds sorta... well, all formal and nice, being 'at her Majesty's pleasure', like they may be all sitting around and having tea or something. lol

Anita found it hard to proclaim her son's innocense as she did in the Natalee Holloway case....

WOW ..... (I can't even comment on that one....) ya think..??

Okay back, when any of my older children call---I stop whatever I'm doing and talk to them :)

Okay have a look at these pics please and give me all your thoughts?

PIC # 11 CBS pics.

Poor quality pic, both shoes. Hard to see the blood but both shoelaces look to be still tied for the most part.

Now, we can see that the amount of blood on those shoes doesn't jive with the shirt and pants she was wearing. Could be a number of things. 1. She kicked off her shoes, FWIW my kids do it this way, the kick off their shoe without untying them by using the opposite foot on the back of the shoe. 2. He removed the shoes himself after the attack, but the problem with that is...in order for there to be that much blood on her shoes, surely we would see blood that fell on clothing as it made it's way down towards the shoes. KWIM?

Then we have this pic.

One of her shoes is pointed out by an arrow, I think that might be the white sheet that covers Stephay?

Of course, FWIW I think it's always possible that JVDS moved some things (intentionally and unintentionally) when he did his clean up. So the shoe might have been closer to her body (head area) while he was violently brutalizing her face and head. If he was sitting on her and she still had her shirt and pants on that might have also shielded her clothing (from his body). He says he was wearing the white shirt before he took it off to smother her after the attack. IIRC. Then a lot of the blood that we would expect to see on her clothing even after she had lain on her back would have landed on his white shirt. A lot of the spatter from the blows would have been obliterated from the soaking of her blood once he put it on her bleeding face and head.

Just my :twocents: and very humble opinion at this moment. Subject to change as facts come out :)

Thanks for that link, Panthera. He's quite an interesting gentleman, IMO. I'm fascinated that he was Billy Mays' attorney way back when. In the 70's, I think?

Incidentally, next Wed @10p EDT NatGeo's 'Locked Up Abroad' is featuring 'The Real Midnight Express'. Hayes details the time he spent in the infamous Turkish prison for trying to smuggle hashish out of the country. The movie that was made from his experience was horrific. One of my favorite movies. (Makes me worry about myself, a lil bit. heh :))

There are several other episodes of 'Locked Up Abroad' throughout the week prior to this one. I've enjoyed all the episodes I've watched, but I'm really interested to see the one with Billy Mays.

ETA: There's a mini marathon beginning Sat at 2p EDT and another beginning at 8p EDT Mon for those interested.

If JVS is granted "special attention" and he is given
"bail" while they work on this case, where will he live
in Peru?I am sure they will take his passport so that
he can't leave the country, what will he do? Where will
he live, what monies would he have?

That's if they end up giving him "special treatment" while this
case is going on.:waitasec:

I'm not saying they will release him. I dont think they will, but it might earn him a stint in protective custody to where he doesn't get killed and gets 3 meals that aren't poisoned. For Joran anything is better that what he is facing. DONT GET ME WRONG on this IMO he is flat out is guilty. Just trying to anticipate where this might go.[/QUOTE]

His case is a slam dunk in any country IMO. Besides his "confession" could still be incriminating if it was not known to the general public at that time how she died. If his "confession" even partially matched up to the actual crime scene before that info was released, you really can not call that a coincidence. He is a done for IMO.

I cannot believe, however, that the Dutch TV Company would conduct an interview with AVDS for free and put up $100k for joran's defense out of their own pocket and goodness of their heart. They knew that their exclusive would bring in a tidy sum from another network. In fact, the total sum is unknown.

I believe that this was an arrangement between AVDS and the TV Company just like AVDS arranged for the reporter to visit joran in prison.

So technically, no, AVDS was not "making" any money.

jmo

BBM
The Dutch TV program is ONLY giving a portion of the $100,000.00 they received from ABC to Joran's lawyer. There is no amount listed of how much of the $100,000.00 they are giving to Joran's lawyer.

IMO, Not all countries and people around the world are as "greedy" as American journalists and Americans. In America we sell a "photo" of a dead snake for $20,000,00.

Things AVS stated in the media:

AVS apologized to the family of the woman allegedly killed by her son.

AVS says she's glad her son is in prison.

AVS says: I hope that he gets a chance to talk with the parents of Stephany Flores, and that he can tell them what happened.

I apologize for them ... that he's my son. He's not a monster. He can be very gentle, but it could be that he has bipolar personality. I hope he gets the help," she said.

Note: Poor English used when AVS stated: "I apologize for them, that he's my son" IMO she meant "I apologize to them that he's my son."

He didn't want to listen to his parents.

He didn't listen to me, this last time.

I tried to do my best. I don't think I could have done more.

He's considered an adult right now. He has to do whatever he needs to do, and that is tell the truth (about) what happened.

AVS has found it hard to proclaim her son's innocence, as she has in the Holloway case.

AVS stated: "I think a part of me still wants to believe that it's all a very bad movie. But I thought immediately of the parents of the girl," she said, referring to Flores.

---hhmmmmm.. sounds like alot of "it's not my fault"....kinda like JVDS denial for being responsible for Natalee/Stephany's death...It was their fault.... They intruded on me..!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone remember Mark Hacking's mother? She did none of this type thing. She stated that she loved him. She was enormously apologetic for what her son did. She never denied or covered up or tried to spin it into anything more than it was. That's how one should handle it, IMO.

Yes, suzihawk
A lot of us remember, and commended her for her attitude.
IMO

Mark's Mom, along with Sharon Rocha-Laci's Mom are the epitome of grace to me.

IT IS NOT his mom's fault. She says they tried to get him help before and he refused. What more was she supossed to do? WE DO NOT KNOW IF SHE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO NAT. NOONE wants to believe their son is a Monster as he is. Atleast she is speaking out and NOT blaming the victim. IMO

It's not HER fault; it is not "THEIR" fault; it is HIS fault!

Any word from the Judge's today? I am just now able to log on. Thanks in advance for any info. :HBwhiteflag:

I've been wondering about the shoes too... I was thinking maybe she was sitting Indian style when she took the blow to her nose... JMO

Good idea. Do you think he took them off and then took off her pants before he sat on her chest and then proceeded to brutalize and beat her to death?

(note: I'm using graphic words for what he did to her, because what he did was brutal. I don't want to type, myself, it in a way that lessens what he did to Stephany, bless her heart).

Personally...IMOO...If it was my "time of the month" I would not remove my pants to get comfortable.. I'm still shy till this day about that..:blushing:.. I can't believe for a sec. that she would do that...

Anyone know what happened to the picture of the neck we were discussing yesterday? Either I'm blind or it's not there--the one with the shirt buttoned up and pulled up over her face?

With all due respect,IMHO the only reason she has not alluded
to the possibility that this was Stefanie's fault is because of
the info they have on camera.

If there were no video cameras, her and JVS would both be
screaming to go get the two guys who held them up and
robbed them.
