It chills me to the bone to think that this was the last face that both Natalee and Stephany saw before their tragic deaths. I hope both of these young women are holding hands and dancing in the heavens today! My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these lovely ladies,.. such a tragedy.

I think that is exacty what happened.


I can't think of another soul in Birmingham, AL he would contact to extort money from that he would THINK would be so desperate to send him $250,000. IF that is what happened, I know Beth would contact her attorney before she sent one red penny. She is not a stupid woman at all. And she certainly does not trust the motives or promises of Joran van der Sloot.


this is all supposition on my part, but IMO, it is very likely....


omgosh....I need to get off this thread for a while and digest this.

BBM. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they have video at the hotel. They were seen on video at the casino, but only by an employee at the hotel.

To be objective, it could also have been another attempt to extort money from a news media outlet in exchange for a big "scoop". He's played similar games with the media in the past. Whomever it was, they were smart enough to contact the FBI.

That's EXACTLY what I'm thinking, beach! All these reports coming out about how desperate he was for money. Wow! The DA(?) from AL says the extortion charges have nothing to do with what's going on in Peru. Not sure I agree with that.

The timing is very interesting, to say the least.

The FBI, as early as May 10, knew they had a case against Joran van der Sloot for wire fraud and extortion but failed to act until today. Had they arrested him when they had the case against him, May 10, he would not have had the money to travel to South America and murder. "

BBM. So now VDS has victimized Beth AGAIN. Can you imagine how she must be feeling knowing it was her money that financed his trip to Peru where he very probably killed another girl???

He deserves to be put under the jail for this. I can't believe his gall. To suggest to the mother, of the girl he murdered, that he might be persuaded to give her dead daughter's location, IF there is a pay off to said murderer, is beyond disgusting. I really hope that he NEVER gets out of prison...alive.

Speechless here, too. I felt like I'd been suckerpunched when I read that. Knocked the wind right out of me. What an absolutely astounding and gruesome turn of events.

I live in Alabama so I DO HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY THIS...... Our Attorney General, and District Attorneys are all idiots, they have been so tied up in the whole electronic bingo thing that they dropped the ball on this one, and I'm not suprised in the least bit now another young lady is dead because they felt it more important to pursue raiding gambling halls than to put a murderer away.:banghead:
