Friends, don't worry about Joran cashing in with a million dollar interview or two. If some "journalists" pony up a mllion or two for Joran to do Round 162 of "Joran Lies About His Involvement in the Murder of a Young Woman," the Holloway and Flores families can sue, sue, sue. (A couple of civil suits with their depositions will kill the future market for Joran stories by flooding the market with new Joran lies, these ones told under oath.) Then of course the US government wants the extortion money back, plus $100; they might also want to levy a big fat fine in addition to years in a US prison, once he finally pays his debt to society in Peru. Joran's own lawyer will want a cut. And what about taxes? Does Aruba tax income? As a resident of a Peruvian prison, will he have to pay taxes there? Don't we think John Q. Kelly might have some novel ways to see that Joran doesn't profit from his evil deeds?

Once again, Joran has failed to think beyond the next move. What a poker player he must be.

Thank you! I needed that little pep talk!:)

I'm also hoping that Mr Flores may have some influence with respect to Castro Castro not allowing interviews with inmates on their premises.

I hope he does have some influence, but there's always the option of transferring Joran to Lurigancho and then I wonder just how many journalists would want to talk with him there???!!! MOO

Okay, say Joran gets a million dollar interview guess what? His inmate friends are all better at the game than he. That money would be blown through very quickly since they would all have heard how much he has.

I hope no media interviews him, ever, for any reason. If so, breakfast you ask? Beans and rice. Hobbies? Poker, but lost my winnings to my new friends here at my lovely new home. JMO.

Right. What's he going to talk about? His lawyer has told him not talk about SF's case, and he himself said he will not talk to anyone about NH's case except Aruban LE---so your right beans and rice, rats, poker, the weather would be about it???

I wondered also but don't have the answer.

Say if we play crazy 8's, what's the ante? ;)

My grandmother raised me and we weren't allowed to gamble, per se, but she supplied us with underwear buttons ( ivory buttons she saved from long johns) - so if you have a few of those laying around...and the winner got to knock off a chore- skip doing dishes for a day, clearing the table.
Totally O/T here and a rare glimpse into the motivation of hardened card players.

the computer question is still on my mind...

Under the picture of her belongings is a written inventory.

1 cellular holder
1 cellular phone
1 pen
2 lighters
1 wallet

This is on the right side of the picture

Objects belonging to Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez One cellular case, one cellular phone, one pen, two lighters, one purse

You know I never read the text in that picture. I did look at the picture closely when they were first released. I was sure of the right item looking like a USB flash thumb drive and I've got a few. I'll just leave it alone but it still looks like USB equipment to my eyes. Still does but I wont argue with the text labeling.

Well, I think he is just trying to be like his neighbor "the clown", who had his curtains drawn when Jane went on her tour of Joran's cell.

You know kinda like the monkey see, monkey do thing.

* The clown doesn't make a statement to the judge
* The psychopath doesn't make a statement to the judge

* The clown eats the same food as other prisoners
* The psychopath now eats the same food as the other prisoners

* The clown has curtains in his cell
* The psychopath now wants curtains in his path ... :nono: not so fast there mr. psychopath

Huge lesson. Be thankful for what you have and never think it can't get worse. He has his health for right now, food, roof over his head. That's more than many here in the US have and they didn't even commit a crime. ie: Homeless vets...makes me sick to be a member of a society that would allow this....ever. Another rant for another time.....

Well it is interesting yes. You are correct, everything else has been discussed, seemingly. Smoker's teeth show quit well in most photos and I did think that she probably did smoke. Mr. Flores did mention earlier that Stepheny was a bit of a rebel or something to that affect. I think someof the third world countries are just getting to that "smoking is cool" phase, while those of us from more modern countries have been through that and are trying to turn that around. Why 2 lighters? One may have been low?

Ah. I had not heard that quote, but just from her body language I thought so too. Not that that's a bad thing at all. (I happen to prefer that type of woman) Sr. Flores has said he sheltered Stephany too much from "the bad", but I think she was plenty savvy. I highly doubt she would have gone to the room of a Peruvian she had only met a few times. I think the reason she is hanging her head in the hotel video is because she is ashamed to be seen entering that particular hotel with a man at that hour. Surely the last thing she expected from a clean cut, well spoken foreigner was violence. Anyway, back to the smoking. Does anyone know where the poker players have to go to smoke at that casino? I'm surprised there are no ashtrays on the tables. IME, social/occasional smokers don't usually carry lighters, so why doesn't SF have her cigarettes with her (assuming she smokes)? And, if she did have them somehow in a pocket of her clothing, why were they not found in Joran's room? I am interested in the DNA from the butts in the room too. Did she have time to have a smoke before he killed her?

He may not have it that bad right now - he probably still thinks one of his strategies will get him out of there. But, it will eventually sink in that he isn't going anywhere but where he is right now. Think about how stir-crazy we get (those in the NE) who are house-bound due to bad snowstorms in the winter. - How we can't wait to get out and about after a few days of confinement. And, our confinement consists of the comfort of our homes. Multiply confinement that by years in Peruvian prison - that is what he's facing. It will sink in and no matter how much money he gets his hands on, he will still be stuck in a hellhole. IMO

OT: I use to go out before the plows would hit and drive around and get my supplies.....everyone was off the roads and I loved it.....snoveled snow and watched the pets go nuts in the depth of it all. If we could be allowed to just have 1 of those a year and no other snow I'd love it.

Transcript from Joy Behar show:

BEHAR: ...You spoke also to the victim, Stephany Flores` close friends last night. What did you find out from them?

CASAREZ: ...They said she was really intelligent. That she was so good with numbers....

[They] said she wanted to be a business woman in Lima. And that she had written down 23 businesses that she wanted to own and operate succeed at. And she would go through her list almost daily saying, I`m going to do this and I`m going to do that... They do not believe that they went there to play online poker, not for a second.

I have wondered for some time what the real purpose of going to the hotel room was. As I said when the hotel video first came out, it looks to me as if they were on a mission, not going there to hang out. Stephany's demeanor, to me, looked like it was a duty to go there with him. She did not get up promptly when he got the keys, she lagged behind without any enthusiasm (clearly, she was not falling down/off-balance drunk or drugged though).

And, I think we all agree that there is some grain of truth in JVS's statements (even though it's hard to figure out which grain that might be) that he plays off of to come up with some far-fetched tale.

As I have thought about this, and what they may have talked about at the table that night, some of the dots connect up to support a theory that Stephany went to the room at JVS's behest for her to consider BUYING JVS's laptop.

Anyone else see these dots as connecting? JVS claimed they went to his room "for his laptop".That could be the grain of truth in his statement (although in his version was to play poker on it). He may have considered on his ride to Chile that her fingerprints/DNA would be on his laptop (because he encouraged her to "try it out"), so he thought, perhaps, that he either had to account for that, or that DNA on his laptop would "confirm" his version of events (i.e., went there to play poker, she saw email b/c she was on the computer).

And of course, they probably would have talked that very night about the fact that she just got money from her dad to buy a new laptop. They probably also talked about her business plans. I can imagine Joran telling her he had a really great, state-of-the-art, almost brand new laptop he picked up in Thialand for next to nothing back at his hotel room that he'd sell her for really cheap (then just get another one).

While the idea that she could pocket the change from the $1,000. her dad gave her (if Joran's computer was the end-all he claimed) probably appealed to her (and was meant to), I can only imagine that Stephany had already picked up on Joran's unsupported bravado about his poker ability, thought he was probably full of baloney. That is, she probably was not convinced his laptop was all he claimed and told him that she was just going to get a new one. Perhaps he persuaded her by asking for a ride back to his hotel room, saying that she could just run up to his room for a second and give his laptop a quick look-see, so she reluctantly agreed. That's what I see in the video...she was tired, he'd talked her into going up to his room when she didn't really want to...and now he doesn't even have the key to his room, so she has to wait for him to get his key. This fits her seeming apathy (like, "whatever, let's get this over with").

This scenario also fits with the fact that she apparently parked her car in a temporary spot (i.e., in some way that it needed to be moved/relocated, so the hotel staff told JVS when he went to get coffee) because Stephany didn't think she'd be there very long.

And, it could be that JVS really wanted to sell it for cash (because he was low on cash), or that he just wanted take/borrow some cash...but when she said, no, that she didn't want it (or that she wanted a "nicer" one), he got really ticked off that he couldn't sucker her.

It all just seems a little too uncanny...She was freshly in the market for a laptop. Had cash on her slated to purchase a laptop immediately. They went to his hotel room for, JVS says, because of something to do with his laptop. She didn't expect to be there long...

Does this hold water as a theory in anyone else's mind?

I'm wondering if cannabis is commonly used in Peru. Possibly she didn't smoke cigarettes as a rule, but sometimes smoked a joint with friends.

Just throwing it out as a possibility.

As a smoker, I always have at least 2 lighters with me, especially when I used to go out. (Little old for that now.) Most times, someone needs a light and keeps your lighter, or, in the alternative, you set it on the table and forget it, or someone borrows it and keeps it. Just like pens, if people pick them up, they automatically put it in their pocket or wherever as a reflex action.

Always need at least 2.

Another smoker here. I have one in the car (not the one the car comes with but a regular carry-around lighter), one in my purse, one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. I also have books of matches all over the house - probably at least one on every table or countertop. I also have candles all over the house which is mostly what I use the matches for, but essentially they're everywhere in order to light a smoke. Ever notice they all seem to decide to run out of fluid at the same time? I notice this with lightbulbs too... every time one lightbulb burns out within days all the other ones in the house seem to decide to burn out.

I hate this smoking habit. It's expensive, generally gross, and quiting is soooooo hard. I'm thinking of trying those electronic cigarettes... I've heard even the hardest cases have very good luck with them.

Under the picture there is a bubble, the items are itemized in Spanish.
If you look at the right side of the page slightly below the picture and to the right of the itemized bubble in Spanish , items are itemized in English
I would take a picture and post it but I do not know how.

In all reality if she smoked or not is irrelevant to the events that ended her life. Peru has a slower pace of life, so you can imagine how it was looked here 20-25 years ago, they probably look at smoking as generally not great but is not as bad looked like here.

Thanks. I found it. It really looks to me like they are lighters. But, air cards, and memory sticks are all different so it could be that too. Also we have heard that there were wrappers to some kind of drugs in her jeep, but to my knowledge we have not heard of anything else found there. Anyone know of an inventory of her vehicle? tia

I heard video gaming equip but this is form another forum so I have to double check for a link. Other than that I haven't seen anything in print, yet.

I am sure the sister in law said that after they saw the video of SF and Joran in the casino when she got home she went upstairs to SF room and looked him up on her (SF's) computer.

Course that doesn't mean she couldn't have had a desk top at home and a laptop too. We heard that her father had given her $1000.00 to buy a laptop, but I haven't heard anyone say that she indeed bought one.

But, if she did why were they going to his room to use his? Unless he had more poker software on his. jmo

I thought he may have brought more of her things up to take when he moved her car at the receptionists request, but then realized it would be better to leave them in the room to make it LOOK like they were online together, jmo.

PS... my theories are usually incorrect, lol.

I thought of that but....
'Sometimes" smokers (cigarettes or weed) don't normally carry lighters in their designer jeans pockets just in case.
She is (for a woman) packing extremely lightly. No purse, no fanny pack, nothing except for a cell phone, that teeny coin purse, a pen, and 2 lighters. The very first thing I noticed in the video of her entering the casino was her lack of a normal sized purse. Now, maybe in Peru with the high crime rate, women don't carry purses, but at any rate, she carried almost nothing with her, therefore the lighters must have been important to her for some reason.

The other possibility of course is that they were Joran's and somehow Peru LE mistakenly noted them as hers. That would be really strange if true.

I'm unfamiliar with everything mentioned but what I read here, she may have had more than one computer. I am aware that many 3'rd world countries don't have the same access and some maybe better. A friend of mine third world uses air-cards exclusively. Will check some more when I get home tonight. The tip off to me was the USB ports at the bottom of the cards.

There are internet cafes in that area $3.00 an hour. So if she had no computer handy she was savvy enough to pop in to a cafe and check her online stuff.
Maybe she had an app on her phone, too.

I'm sure they checked them for fingerprints in which case they might not be mentioning who they belong to, but they were in her possessions so they are mentioned as hers. Remember Joran moved the car once at the request of management at the hostel. He could have brought things in and left them at the scene.

When Joran asked to have curtains in his cell, the first thing that went through my mind, was that he wanted to commit suicide.

He already knows that stuffing something into ones mouth and blocking the airway, results in death (like he stuffed his shirt into Stephany's mouth). Having curtains would allow him some privacy to do whatever was necessary.

If he can see no way out (and thankfully, it looks that there is not) for him, then I can see him taking his own life and thereby robbing everyone that cares about Stephany and Natalie, of justice.

I hope he doesn't. something about him tells me that he is too much of a coward to even take his own life.
Moo....
