So it appears his motive was either robbery or sexual assault or both.

I don't think the FBI will find anything to help with what happened to Natalee on the computer either. He's likely had a few laptops since then. But they will likely find lots of evidence for the wire fraud though.

More supposed evidence....the computer may not even have been on prior to Stephanie's murder...

"Police have said that Van der Sloot admitted he attacked Flores on May 30 after she read an e-mail on his computer connecting him to the Holloway case.

But, according to an analysis of that computer, it was turned off between Saturday, May 29 around 3 p.m. and Sunday, May 30 around noon, a source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told In Session.

A police official, meanwhile, said the computer was active, but that nothing done or received during the time period in question would suggest Flores saw information linking Van der Sloot to Holloway. The official, connected to the case, was not authorized to speak publicly about it."

Whether the PC was off... or on and simply unused during the period in question...this sure sounds like a 'gotcha' to me!!! :rocker:

But I'm still holding my breath, since JVDS seems to find a way to weasel out of everything.

Peruvian authorities say a forensic examination of that laptop shows a different story than that told by van der Sloot. Their version conjures up a macabre scene of van der Sloot playing online poker with a corpse in his room while he plotted his escape.

According to investigators, the Natalee information was accessed hours before the presumed time of death of Flores. This would seem to debunk his claim that she died following an angry fight concerning Natalee's disappearance.

In fact, Peruvian investigators claim there was activity on more than one poker website well after the Natalee-related information was accessed."

I sincerely hope that the online poker was played by JVDS and Stephanie, explaining why she would have accompanied him to the hotel, and not after Stephanie's death as this article alludes to...I don't think they are stating that as fact.
 
Hmm... that's rather ambiguous, isn't it? :waitasec: I hope you're right, FLNY, and that it was both JVS and Stephany playing poker prior to her murder rather than the alternative. But to be quite honest, it wouldn't surprise me to learn otherwise. Nothing this monster would do would surprise me at this point.

Either way it sort of puts the kabash on his 'crime of passion' defense.

Joran lied?? He made up the whole story about Stephany looking at his laptop? He blamed Stephany by saying she invaded his privacy and had no right. That was all a lie?? I'm shocked!

NOT!

I don't know if they will find anything about Natalee on his laptop but one positive thing is that the FBI knows how to follow leads no matter how small they may seem.

Is this for real this time? 'cause I vaguely remember reports like this earlier in the case being debunked ...

I just wonder if that source is legit

Do you all think that he could ever be transported to the US to spend out the rest of his life in a maximum security facility because of the system there? Knives and drugs? I bet this violent attack will be self defense by him, it could be in a way. I just imagine yoran has a HUGE target on his back. I just wonder if they might be scared of how it will look on a global level if he is killed a Peruvian jail.
 
If Joran is larger and can victimize some of the smaller inmates then he probably has just as he harmed women. He's obviously violent since it's known that he beat at least one person to death so far. Wonder if he's in a prison gang or if they even have them there in Peru like they do here?
 
Guess there's no chance of him getting out early for good behavior!
 
JVS is crazy. He is a psychopath for sure. How anyone couldnt have seen this is beyond me. His friends and family must have know about his behavior for years.

He thinks it's funny that someone could put out a story like that about him and most of the world would believe that it was possible he did stab three people?

Apparently his attorney didn't think it was so funny as, once again, the lawsuit threats were thrown out there. If I were his attorney, I don't think I'd be too pleased about him laughing about such serious allegations. And I sure as heck wouldn't be announcing that reaction to the press. I can't figure that guy out. :waitasec:
 
Well it can't be possible for Joran to be stabbing fellow prisoners. According to this article, he's going to church and "turning his life around" :banghead:

'I have checked this information with the prison director and it has been completely invented,' the lawyer said.

In fact, Van der Sloot, charged with the murder of a young Peruvian woman last year, wants to turn his life around and has begun going to church, Altez said.

If you're suggesting that perhaps he will be transported to the US for his own protection, that would never happen. He's not a US citizen. But once he's done his time in Peru, however long that may be, he will likely spend the rest of his life in a US prison for crimes he committed there.

Anyone read the National Enquirer? They had a front page story (I read the headlines in the grocery checkout line) that said Joren had put Natalie in a tomb or something.

You never know about those headlines though - they rarely match the actual story.
