I haven't been able to keep up with this entire thread, but I was wondering if there was any indication about how much Stephanie knew about Joran's past.
Her family has said that she did not know who he was or anything about him. Her brother (I think) found out his name from the casino and googled him and all the Natalee stuff came up and they grew very worried.

So, no she didn't know who he was.

From what I've read, she didn't know about his past. Her family found out about his past after he was id'd by the casino as being with their daughter. They went home and looked up the internet and were shocked.

I know Patty G. corrected me because I made the mistake of saying "an American tourist's hostel room" without realizing my error until much later even though of course I know he isn't. Although every country I've been in assumes I AM American because I speak English - even in England.

Years ago, when I was really traveling, I had a Canadian flag sewn on to my jacket.

No worries, we just have enough horrible criminals without having to claim Joran (Casey Anthony, Drew Peterson, John Gardner, Scott Peterson etc..)

You and your fellow Canadians are welcome here anytime, well except Crosby...you guys can have him back like yesterday. ;)

Just curious, does Greta still think poor joran's innocent?

Greta changed her opinion of Joran, once she watched the DeVries videos. She had always thought Joran was a nice young man, nothing like what Beth had described from the very first night.

Greta said she saw what Beth et all had always seen of Joran, in the DeVries video. She frankly, was quite shocked!

Didn't I read recently that Aruba dropped the ball in arresting JVDS again, re the extortion?

None...She didn't know him at all.

The article didn't state he couldn't remember which room he was in at Vina Del Mar--it stated he couldn't remember where he stayed in Vina Del Mar.

Thank you. I see that now that I went back and re-read. He said he couldn't remember the address. I guess that makes more sense now. I think I may be on information overload at this point. So much in the past 3 days.

Yes, Aruba was in on observing the extortion. But it was in Aruba, so it was up to Aruba to arrest him. They COULD have arrested him and held him for 30 days, per their own law, until the FBI got their arrest documents. But no............Aruba OBSERVED him and when he was leaving Aruba, they contacted the FBI to tell them he was going.

wow!~

Did Joran get any $$$ directly or indirectly from FOX for this Thailand interview?
YES! Greta mentions it a couple of times but unless one is familiar with what certain terms mean, it would likely be overlooked as I overlooked it when I saw the interview the first time a few years ago. The payment is disguised as a licensing fee for the audio chip of some phone calls with his father that he provided to FoxNews.
Nothing was said about what amount Fox paid him, but I would speculate that it was sizeable.

I THINK it was $10K. I believe I saw something about it earlier today.

Caption on the screen on Geraldo's show ~

"Peruvian authorities: Joran is a serial killer"

Trying to keep up, couple of things I wonder about that may have been covered and that I have missed.

How far was the casino in Peru from where Miss Flores lived with her family?

I get the impression ? yes or no, that she lived rather close to the casino where she was pictured with JVDS. Incomplete info gave me this thought, IF so why would she drag a tennis racket and or ball bat with her, so ownership of the racket and bat will be important in my view. PLUS fingerprints should be all over them to help with determination as well.

IF JVdS told hotel help to not disturb his girl in his room etc., wonder IF his hair was blond at that moment? I am guessing no.

This will be an incredible trial to watch to the end. His future will not have a happy ending.

Edited to add: I did not know how his father died, just Googled
As follows:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,585581,00.html

JULIA RENFRO, EDITOR, "ARUBA TODAY" (Via Telephone): Good evening, Greta. It was very shocking for the van der Sloot family and the entire community of Aruba.

Paul was playing tennis yesterday and he collapsed. And the ambulance was unfortunately unable to resuscitate him.
------------------------------------------

Date was Feb 11, 2010.

So 'a' tennis racket was in this coverage.

Wonder IF the racket in the room has his father's fingerprints on it OR if it was same kind of racket as his father used OR most likely guessing there should possibly be a racket cover somewhere.
