This statement that Joran looked like Brad Pitt gave me my first good laugh of the day. Personally, I always thought he resembled Frankenstein. All that's missing is the head bolts.

I think he is far from a Brad Pitt, but he is tall and white and to some people from a different background it may be perceived as good looking. In Jamaica on our honeymoon all the women staff were going googoo-gaga after my hubby and he is nothing special. I just think because he looks 'different' - very tall and white?.

i dont have the link...but the abanian made a few references to his being worried that they may have both been kidnapped. why would it have been likely for them to have been kidnapped? he says that he feared this because jvds missed an appointment with him and then another dinner appointment as well ... but this man claims that he is in NO way "friends" with jvds... so.... if he was not friends with jvds, then it seems that he may have known stephaney in some way??? moo

Hi Nervous Nellie. Someone posted back thread that Stacey's parents had said that they were concerned that she may have been kidnapped. That might be the reason that this man thought both had been kidnapped.

Why assume someone had been kidnapped when that is a somewhat rare occurance here in the USA?

Because in South America it is a crime that US citizens are warned of if they choose to travel to one of the South American Countries.

Peru is still defined as a developing nation. There are areas of Peru that one should not travel to because of terrorist groups within that country and political unrest. (violent acts, demonstrations). I think to travel there one should really be informed. That doesn't mean that all parts of Peru are dangerous but there could be spill over violence and crime. (As is on the border between Mexico and USA at times).

Kidnapping of prominent Peruvian citizens, affluent peruvian citizens and citizens of other countries for money are not unheard of IMHO. IIRC there is even a term used for one type of kidnapping for money called express kidnapping.

I think that the man who says that he had worried or assumed that both had been kidnapped probably had reason to assume that the moment. Especially in consideration to Stephany's socio-economic status and JVDS foreign nationality. JMHO.

This has some interesting points. Stephany's Father comments on the way she's walking in the video in Van der sloot's hotel. Also that he speaks broken Spanish. I'm stunned at this tragedy but so thankful he's finally caught.

The discussion in the video is confusing. They talk about Joran walking out to get two cups of coffee and bread BUT there is nothing on the video showing this is what he did. All the video shows is he left the room after ~4 hours, with a striped shirt, backpack, duffle bag and never to return again.

JeanC reported from Peru on HLN: a call was received from Atlantic Casino on June 1, asking for VDS. The room key had not been left with the receptionist at the front desk. A spare key was used to enter the room because she thought VDS was in his room.

The call came in at 11:00. (I could not catch whether AM or PM).
