Ok, I'm confused. I thought the pic showed the mattress still on the bed but the sheets are off. I know it was reported that the mattress was off, but MF said in earlier report the mattress was askew.

that's what I'm thinking - like half on / half off the bed where it kinda "tilts" with one edge on the floor. But that diagram that was posted by MF showed the mattress off the bed altogether. Maybe it was just the drawing....

No we don't. The extortion attempt was for $250,000. That was the same amount that was offered as a reward from when Natalee went missing. Maybe it was from some of the reward money - I think they were trying to trap him and doubt she would use her own money for that. JMO

Added in was the 2 coke bottles found in the room, 1 regular with a little left and 1 diet that was empty. I would suppose the diet one was SF's since most mean I know won't touch diet drinks whether they need it or not.

Now the question is where did these come from? We didn't see them in the lobby video...is there yet another time JVDS left the room that we haven't seen?

Minibar? They have Coke Light and Coke in bottles in the mini bars in rooms that I have stayed in Europe.

Nothing I have read so far indicates that. And, whoever it was, was working with the FBI. I feel like they thought they could retrieve the extortion money, but Joran wasn't in Aruba. So, SNAFU once again. I sure hope it wasn't Beth's money to be lost on that fool again. But, I like some other posters here would have depleted my retirement account to find my daughter and put him behind bars.

Mark did say it was askew when he was describing how her head could've been hit on the one corner of the wooden frame.

Dumb question. Is it possible they could be forced to move the trial out of Peru because obviously he won't get a fair trial there because of the all the publicity?

I found a site that is suppose to be all of the legal procedures for Peru, but of course it is not in english and translating is a bear before you start trying to translate statutes.

If I have some time tonight I will try to find their murder statutes and criminal trials sections and run it through translation.

One poster mentioned that JVS had possibly borrowed money from Stefany. She had a car, he didn't. Maybe she offered him a ride back to the hotel and he said come in for a minute and I will pay you back. Not sure what happened after that but it would explain why she would willingly go to his room when her friends said she is usually cautious. That story about buying his laptop doesn't make sense to me. He uses his computer a lot - has myspace and other pages and plays on line poker - can't imagine he would give that up. And for $1000.00 from her dad she could get a new laptop plus printer too.

I don't think he planned to actually sell it to her, just an excuse to bring her to the room.

Although he has a gamblers mentality and he may have thought he could turn it into cash with which he would clearly win big at the tables and buy a better one.

I don't know why lifestyles would matter to hotel management. Some same-gender persons do stop to rest during their travels (for purpose of rest). Surely they don't have spy cameras inside the rooms to even know so why would they even care or mention it?

That's why I thought it was so strange from a promotional standpoint. The lady's in my family went to Vegas last year to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday. There where 12 of us in two adjouning rooms with 4 beds and a couple of cots. Hey, we were traveling as cheaply as possible! LOL

It just seems weird for the hostel to promote itself that way.

Same sex couples are not allowed at all hotels, the laws are not like they are here. I know when we went to Sandal's on vacation they did not allow same sex couples to stay there or at any of their other properties (in my sheltered USA view of the world I was shocked to find that out), but I think some places advertise that they will allow it to bring in those tourist dollars.

Perhaps Stephany was alive when Joran went for coffee, he went for coffee and she jumped in the shower; he came back while she was dressing and she opened the door to let him in because he was carrying bread and 2 cups of coffee; he took her state of partial undress to mean she was a willing sex partner. Things went down from there. And before you jump on this post, yes she very well might have answered the door not completely dressed even if she didn't know him that well. Perhaps her shirt covered her panties, perhaps she wasn't modest, perhaps she trusted him because she told him she was gay, etc.
