Jean C/ on In-Session: have just been informed that JVDS has a private attorney. Not revealed who at this point. That may be why everything has slowed down (the re-enactment).

Looks as if mama and her remaining ties in Aruba came thru for JVS. I truly think someone in Aruba tipped JVS off on the sting and that was the reason for him going to SA. At that point, he knew he couldn't even go back to Aruba any longer. He knew he wouldn't be getting any more "extortion" money. The Natalee game per se was over for him right then and there. He had a total of 25K left...and for him that was seen as diddly squat I think. He probably tried to increase that by gambling and did himself in financially. He would have to turn to theft to support himself....he more or less stalked SF at the casino, seeing she apparently was wagering big amounts and figured she had money.....the possibility of getting her to lend him a few thou would seem very probable with his (sic) known charm and cunning ways. She said no or maybe he did just want to steal it, and she found him out. I don't believe the computer comes into any part of this. It was money...flat out money, as it has been his MO in everything he has ever done since we have known his name. He had reached the proverbial end of his money making and now he couldn't even go home. (to the people who became his Savior) Up a creek without a paddle? Big Time.
I think the sting was this "end". It was just so terribly unfortunate that SF was caught in his crosshairs at this time. But, I again, think Aruba authorities may have played the dark Ace in this game that brought his house down.
I didn't follow the case, except thru the tube, prior to SA, but I think we all know there had to be other people in the know from his side of this extortion plot....so I think you all who have previously followed every detail on WS from the beginning prolly have a good opinion of who he, she, they may be.

He whole confession, as given, is just his way again of saving his stinking disturbed a$$. Aggravated theft, if I read and heard correctly, is life in prison. Whoever advised him, did a good job. I just so hope the evidence they have can "out" his BS. But, whatever, he's toast, done meat, stick a fork in him and hand a few condoms. Hope he rots day by day as the putrid piece of flesh he truly is. Sorry, but he makes guts ache...for all he has done.

His whole demeanor in everything has been despicable as a human being. I cannot imagine the absolute hell and unquenching hurt he has put Natalee's family through all these years...and the pain SF's family is now going through.

I pray that God's grace will allow NH's remains or what truly happened to her to be brought forward...and the agony and weeping by her family can atleast lessen and healing can begin.

I have wondered..often..if Joran's mother...is afraid..of him...He has such an explosive temper...and is much bigger/forceful/strong...

She seems to always do his bidding...just my opinion...

I do so hope that's not the case. No way a mother should have to fear her own child.

I, for one, don't believe a word Joran says including the confession and it really
bothers me that the media is taking what he says as fact!! It's not fact!!

Unless proven wrong, I doubt her killing had anything to do with that laptop
computer, but what a clever story he made up to blame her for intruding on
his privacy.

I think she was drugged before leaving the casino, not feeling well enough to
drive. He brought her to his hostel (I think her car keys are in his right hand
while picking up door key with left hand). I think he had two motives, robbery
and sex.

I do not believe she removed her own jeans. He did, against her will!
He had given her the "date rape drug" just like Natalee and just like Natalee
she rejected him!! That's when he became enraged and killed her!

Also, I wonder if the time of death could have been much earlier.

He said his credit cards were in Santiago, Chile hotel room. Correct? If you google map it, Aruba is located at the far Northern point of the map South America. Santiago, Chile is way below Lima, Peru and terribly far south from Aruba. It just didn't appear to me as if he was planning on going back to Aruba at all. Rather it seemed quite the opposite, that he was RUNNING SOUTH which speaks strongly to his guilt, IMHO. He knew that they would be looking for him for the murder and that they would expect him to go toward Aruba. So he went the opposite direction... For what reason would he have gone the opposite direction other than to escape law enforcement looking for him and why would LE be looking for him if he had no connections with and knew nothing of the murder????

Reminds me an awful lot of Scott Peterson and his red haired trip to Mexico that was really just a trip in the same 'direction' to play golf!

Were the Police able to locate the hotel room in Chile? Days ago I remember reading that they were frustrated that Joran couldn't find the hotel he had checked into in Chile.
I never heard anything more about that. Was there a hotel or was that just more bs?

adding - plus JVS was on his way to a coastal city (name escapes me). Why would he keep his room in Santiago?

If Anita Van der Sloot cannot see, at this point, that her son is a dangerous person who should not continue to be free to kill, than I have no respect whatsoever. I do not subscribe to the 'not my child' theory of parenthood. It sickens me to see her continually tout his innocence. There comes a point where you have to face the truth and deal with it. She needs to stop trying to bail him out and encourage him to face the consequences for his actions.

I have never read a report that the hotel held his passport. I do remember someone here offered that as a theory, and everyone has jumped on it ever since. (I was just in Nicaragua, and we had to show our passport every time we converted money, so that wouldn't have worked.)

Also, weren't the initial reports that he DID go toward the airport, only to find he would have to wait two days to use his ticket?

Some one here may know the answer to these questions:

1) Is it extortion and/or wire fraud only because the info he gave was not true?

2) Had the info he gave been accurate would it had been legal?

3) What is the difference between contacting Beth Holloway and asking for money for info and contacting the USAToday and doing the same?

4) Would most countries extradite some one to the US on an extortion and/or wire fraud charge?

5) How does the law work if the person doing the extortion and/or wire fraud does it from a counrty where it's not illegal? I mean if you are in Country A and do something involving Country B (with out ever being in Country B) how can Country B arrest you?
