Dang it! I've been busy all day with fish tanks and then the Belmont, hoping if I stayed away long enough, when I came back there would be good news! Grrrr.....

Police may or may not keep looking around. Will leave a "police presence" to stand guard.

Ok is this some kind of joke? Why would they go to all the trouble and then just give up?

What?...the forensic guy searches a 10 X 10 area and then just gives up? Not believing it AT ALL!

I think this means that they DID find something...what better way to throw off the press and the public if they found remains, than to state that they were giving up! Now everyone can leave and the forensic guys can load it into the van and go to the ME's office.

I guess the early reports that the dogs went to the exact spot and they placed some sort of prongs into the ground and hit something solid were false??? Because if that were the case, it could not take days or weeks. IMO it would take like an hour.
And they would be able to at least tell what the solid object was.

Or, maybe like mitzi said, they are just trying to throw off the press. But why???

Just tell us what you know.

Please don't carry tweets, just link to them please.

So, is this info coming from the presser we can not find?
Or just a reporter hearing things on the ground?

Any word on the presser?

Is it possible that they really do think this is the spot but are being very methodical in order to find any small evidence other than the body as they work their way down? I really don't know how they process scenes like this, so I'm brainstorming here, but the fact they used a hand shovel made me wonder.

I've seen nothing online in the Chicago media with this statement from the police yet, so hopefully they'll update soon.

Good point. If one guy is digging a 10' x 10' area with one of those little hand shovel things, this could take weeks.
Painful wait for her family IMO.

I think from the presser...Hosey is a SunTimes reporter who has reported since day 1 on this case.

BTW...Hosey is a nice guy, but IMO, is somewhat a "dumb guy", so maybe he is stating what the State Police said, in the wrong way...in other words, maybe they and the forensic anthropologist are only leaving for today...and coming back tomorrow.

All the better to keep Drew and his lawyers relaxed and making dumb statements...

Honestly, though we've been thru this with HaLeigh and countless other missing loved ones, this search smells authentic. Out of the blue they get a tip to a precise wooded area from someone in the know? With everything that has gone on in this case I'm pretty sure if the State LE though it was just a wild goose chase they wouldn't have bothered.

It sounds like they didn't do any heavy digging, so I am suspicious that this is indeed the site, and if it could take a week, as the family has been told from what I've gleaned, they must have a pretty good reason to think they'll need that long. Any confirmation on TMZ's report on the cadaver dogs alerting at that spot?

Is it possible that the anthropologist got an important phone call and had to leave? Or found something and felt they shouldn't proceed further until tomorrow when they have something available - some sort of equipment or tools?

I have not heard any confirmation. But that info is so specific IMO they got it from somewhere. That's a pretty elaborate story to make up KWIM.

Maybe LE just does not want to share that yet. I don't know.

After I heard about the dogs alerting at the exact spot, I was sure this was it. Now, I'm wondering if it is or not.

Maybe LE just wants more time to get there facts and info straight before telling us what they know.

I just don't know.

I sure hope you're right....................
