OK, they had a little digger there that removed the top soil. Then before the video cut again, it looked to me like someone was sweeping something over the soil under the tent that was not a shovel although it had a long handle.

They put sides up on the tent before they left so that is a good sign they are coming back to that spot.

On WBBM radio Chicago, someone from LE said they haven't even started digging yet and the site is very muddy. He said they have a good reason to be there.

I agree. It looked like a shop broom like this (but with black bristles)-->

Investigators wrapped up a day of digging Saturday after receiving a "credible lead" in the disappearance and possible homicide of Stacy Peterson.

Illinois State Police with the help of a local anthropological team were searching since daybreak in a rural area outside Peoria where Stacy's body was believed to have been buried. Officials planned to return later in the week with more "sophisticated equipment."

“We are pursuing some other avenues in reference to this lead and we will be back in this area,” State Police Master Sgt. Tom Burek said. But he offered no timetable for a return.

In other words, "we are using human leads to determine whether this one is a load of BS, whether it is yet another mind game from the defendant, or whether it is legit. Once we are convinced of which of these it is, we will be back with shovels. Hopefully it will have dried out by then."

One of the articles said they were near kickapoo creek and from all the rain they have had the water table is probably close to the surface. They might just be waiting for the water table to drop.

does DP ever tell the truth about anything? Or is this just more bravado or BS on his part. I'll hold my breath and see. But, i would give anything to see Stacey recovered. Just don't believe DP that she ran off with another guy.

I'm hoping what TMZ is reporting is in fact truth and that Stacy will be found.

Snipped from article
Will County Sheriff's deputies and prosecutors took the alleged accomplice to Peoria Friday, and the accomplice led them to private hunting grounds. The owner allowed authorities to enter his property and the accomplice then led them to the site where Stacy's body was allegedly buried. The accomplice told authorities the body was stuffed in a metal drum that had been buried underground.

On Friday afternoon, authorities brought police dogs onto the property and we're told the dogs immediately took them to the place where the witness said the body was buried. Authorities then put prongs in the soil and hit a mass below ground that could be the drum in question.

We'll probably never know, but I'd like to know what DP's demeanor has been like today? I'm wondering if guards at the jail are noticing any changes in the way he's acting?

If it's been raining and unusually wet for the past few weeks, the anthropologist may have gotten to an area and said....."it's too wet to properly sift through with the tools I'm using." They may have decided to call it a day and come tomorrow with different tools.

That area is under tornado warnings at this time, until 2am.

Need a favor please. Can someone post a synopsis of what happened today and what the plan is for searching later?

I need to update the front of the forum page and the home page. I'm still a bit under the weather so doing a lot of reading isn't an option right now.

Thanks everyone. Keep up the great posting.

Love,
Tricia

Tricia, best I can give you is that LE has now admitted that the credible tip did NOT come from within the jail, but they are still considering it a credible tip....They had an anthropologist on site today who was hand digging a 10 x 10 area but did not locate anything, The search is not going on tomorrow but LE said they may be back out Monday and that the search could take up to a week, From some of the photos of the site today, it did look like they are using some sort of radar to check the ground...

And DP and JB are saying that this is all BS that she ran off with another man and that this is just another useless search..

If I missed anything can someone else fill in the blanks..

Hope you get to feeling better soon Tricia

Sorry it's taken so long for me to get back on here!

My friend and I were on our way out to dinner and decided to drive by the property. Several police cars were at the end of the drive blocking it's entrance. You could not see any activity or how many cars/police were on the scene due to the woods and rolling hills. (you definitely couldn't see the blue tent from the road)

My friend and I drove a bit farther down from the driveway entrance they were blocking and parked next to a TV truck from Chicago 7. We befriended the camera guy and he said he really thought something was found by what they were hearing and how the LE were acting.

I asked where all the other news media crews were (no local media was there ... and only this one station out of Chicago). He said they were holding a press conference across town that was about to start at any moment.

After waiting around for a while (and listening to some funny stories about Geraldo and DP while staking out his house), a trailor carrying an excavator came down the driveway from the scene and drove away.

A few mins after that, 6-7 unmarked, marked, and what looked to be a CSI type van came driving down the driveway quite rapidly and took off into town. The helicopter from above followed them.

The news reporter and camera guy strongly felt they had found something and had distracted the media and observers with the press conference which was being held quite a distance away. They did a live broadcast for the 6pm news while we watched. (The Chicago Tribune interviewed us, too, while were waiting...maybe that will be in the paper tomorrrow?)

I'm on the fence as to whether or not they were creating a distraction or if they were really wrapping up for the day.

Of course, then, a horrible tornado came right through our area (and the actual location they were searching) so it's been a bit of a wild night!

A lot of people we talked to seem to think there is some connection with the gun/sportmen club on the property and DP.
