Assorted notes from rewatching Day 24 (and maybe 25, it was late and I looked around):

JA says:

The rental had no floor mats.

She got to Monterrey after midnight (now 6/03).

She checked her MySpace account on the first (approx. 1/2 hour in length) visit to DB's.

The remote that somehow made its way into her car was for either a TV or DVD player.

She doesn't remember when she got the cans, could have been before or after Jack left for school.

She used gas from the cans about 15 miles this side of Winnemucka because the low light was on in her car, says she called the closest station to find out how far and thought she'd run out if she tried to make it. Q: Is there a phone record to back this up?

She called MM and DB at some point that evening (after killing T and on her way). Same Q as above.

She stopped at Buckeye, AZ for gas (no receipt was mentioned or shown by JM on this day at least).

Last night I got TA's gmail address from a letter shown (the one she sent after she killed him) and googled it and found a mixed martial arts message board that posted it in Feb. wondering if he was a member there. If he was it wasn't posted on the board but since one of the e-mail addresses listed in the docs gcharlie posted today has wrestling in it, maybe it was made for joining forums of that nature. They didn't find any e-mails associated with that account so it could be that's why he had it. Nothing showing up on google for it though.

so she got to Monterrey after midnight (which was then 6/3)which was at DB's house so maybe she used his computer to create the Flickr account at 12:28am. Maybe that's also where she created/burned the CD/DVD that she reportedly brought to TA's home.

Now that we've had some time to digest all of the evidence and witness testimony from the trial, there still seems to be quite a few unanswered questions. I thought I'd start a thread where we could discuss and work out all the pieces that don't fit and things that don't make sense to us while we're awaiting the penalty retrial.

Tops on my list at the moment are the camera, pictures and the memory cards. The blue one does not appear to fit Travis' camera yet was found in the washer and introduced into evidence and nothing more said about it. Did it have pictures on it? Why don't we know anything more about it?

Det. Melendez said when he received the camera the memory card and its cover were in the camera slot where it belongs, but the Sony card that fits his camera doesn't look like it has a cover. Very confusing.

The 'unclothed' pics are another mystery to me; with the events that preceded his murder, it doesn't seem reasonable that Travis would invite her in and have that sort of encounter with her. We know he told at least one woman he was chatting with that he was afraid of JA's stalking behavior and even presumed she was reading their communications, would he forget all of that and invite her into his bed a week later? I find that difficult to believe.

And one glaring question about her trip - once she was out of Arizona and near Salt Lake City, UT, why did she refill the all of the gas cans? There was no financial benefit and with the extra weight of those 3 cans, it probably had a negative impact on her gas mileage, not to mention the smell and danger of carrying around so much gasoline. She had plenty of places to fill up, so why would she lug around gas when it wasn't necessary?

It doesn't seem that she had time to take a long drive into the desert to dispose of the weapons before meeting Ryan (will need to check the timeline on that part), but she obviously did it for a reason, I hope eventually we can figure that out.

Those are the questions bothering me presently, please post yours and let's get to work on finding some answers.

Sorry but I do NOT believe any of her story/testiphony etc. Travis did NOT know she was coming. He did NOT welcome her and there was NO sex. He did NOT know she was taking pics from the closet while he was showering. I don't know how it all got on the camera but it was NOT done that day (the graphic nude/sex ones). This is just my opinion. Because in order for her to "believe herself" she would have to create a complete story/lie. I don't for one minute believe there are any bits of truth in her story. She is one very sick monster and I think she always has been. Her story was rehearsed (by her) over and over in prison. She was able to convince herself, but (in the end) no one else.

But I love reading the theories on the board. The truth is ... we will NEVER know .... and that sucks bigtime!!!!!! I find myself wishing she would grow a conscience and just tell us what really happened. I mean ... she will never get out of jail ... so why not just give Travis's family some peace.

Won't happen because .... well .... I guess we know why ... PFFFT!!! I hope she rots ... and guess what? She's gonna!!! YES! YES! YES!!!!!

Makes sense if she thought she needed help getting him back to the shower - put the shower mat on the carpet, roll him on it, pull down wet hallway.

I always thought the 5:33:32 (last) pic had a corner close to the camera I couldn't figure out, once I decided his feet/toes and her hands made up much of what we were seeing I figured it must be his ankle bone or her wrist, but my earliest thought that it was the shower mat edge never really left. Now with this carpet pic and areas that look like edges of something having been on it, maybe that is the mat corner in the last pic.

From everything I've read, a non-living person seems to weight much more than alive, it would have been very difficult for her to get him all the way down to the shower alone, and quickly, as she knew she may not be alone for long.

I do see what appears to be the outline of a rectangle. At the same time, the quality of the images we have is not good because they are screen shots of projected images. It would be more helpful if we could access the images in digital form.

If CMJA contemplated using something to drag him, the marks in the hallway do not show evidence of her having done so. There should be some kind of line or pattern from that object and I do not see one.

I agree, I've seen no sign of dragging except the marks on the baseboard areas. But she used the water glass to splash water on the walls (dripping of the leucoviolet) and near the carpet (testimony of water under the carpet), so enough water may have been on the hallway floor to obliterate the dragging marks.

I want worse than ever to have original digitals of all these pics, esp. the camera pics but the evidence ones would be such a help.

Gotta disagree. According to Juan and Flores there was definitely sex.
And Travis definitely knew she was taking the shower pics. The shower door is open in all shower pics

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here in forever! I, like many of you, have been pretty much glued to this trial. Since the first part is over, I've even gone back and continue to re-listen to Juan's cross of CMJA (it's really sad, I pop my headphones in while doing the dishwasher, folding laundry and other house stuff just to get my Juan fix .) Anyway, there are 2 very big things that stand out to me about her testimony that Juan doesn't really address. Maybe it's been explained and I missed it, or maybe I'm reading too much into it, but here they are.

The first thing that stands out is on Day 24 at around the 2 hour mark (1:58:16 to be exact) Juan asks her if, when she woke up at her sister's house and started her trip to Mesa, did she go straight to the Monterrey CA area (Where Matt lives.) She says "Yes" He says "What time did you get there?" She replies "It was very, very late. I think it was even the 3rd, in the morning, cause WE stopped in Santa Cruz first." Wasn't she travelling alone?! Who is WE?? Maybe a slip-up? But, she says it AGAIN a few seconds later.. Juan asks "So you got there past midnight, in any event it was late?" And she says, "Yeah it was past midnight, I think, by the time WE got to Monterrey." Who is the WE?

Second issue I have is when she is talking about having the remote from DB's house in her car. Now, I know we have all speculated that she had brought the DVD player that was "stolen" from her grandparents house to bring to DB (as a gift, or in exchange for gas cans), but I hadn't picked up on her practically admitting this was the case. Same day of cross, a few minutes later (2:02:08), Juan brings up this issue of her driving away with his remote and says "How is it that it found it's way into your car?" and CMJA says "I don't know.. It was already with him, I drove away with it on accident. I don't even know how I got it." Now, why in the world would you say "it was already with him" when talking about something he "supposedly" owns in the first place. So fishy to me, and only convinces me she absolutely gave him the DVD player from her grandparents house. Wonder if the cops even went there...

The idea that she could have swapped memory cards has been disproven. The exit info on the memory card shows exactly what camera each shot was taken with, and all the data about that photo, shutter speed, whether or not flash was used, etc. All photos were taken with TA's camera, and at the times indicated on the timestamps. There are evidently more timestamps than have been made public, as Detective Flores' report says the first of the EIGHT, not six, nude photos was taken at 1:40

I think I can answer the first issue UESwifey, I was stunned when I heard that the first time around (who the heck is "we" and why didn't JM pursue it?), but she's talking about when her and Matt get back to Monterrey after having gone out for appetizers and hitting a club. She said earlier she was supposed to go to Monterrey to see Matt but when talking to Matt that day (6/02) he said he and his roommate were in Santa Cruz so she met them there.

I have the same questions about the remote, I would imagine if DB thought he had any incriminating evidence he'd have gotten rid of it as soon as he could. No evidence of that but it seems logical to me.

I read that the other two photos were of them 'in the act' and there was at least one pretrial hearing about them and it was decided not to enter those two as the other 6 basically show what's going on. I think there's a link to the motion(s) around here somewhere but I wouldn't know where to look.

Mine is not an unresolved question, but more a curiosity question about something that doesn't quite square with me.

The autopsy report indicates that Travis's pubic hairs were previously shaven.

I have since found out that it is becoming more common place for younger men to shave or trim their "bushes", but something about it does not make sense for what I superficially know about Travis.

If not maintained, shaving the nether regions becomes very uncomfortable due to itching. I personally would not expect someone who is supposed to be celibate to be without pubic hair. I don't know if my logic is off, but I would equate that with someone who is sexually active. If he had not seen CMJA in several months and had an upcoming trip to Cancun with a bunch of PPL associates, does this make sense to you.

I asked my 23 year old college son if he had any male friends who practice this kind of grooming and he knows of 2. One does consider himself a stud, but I don't know about the other one.

My views may reflect the practices of my generation.

My ex became a *advertiser censored* junkie once he got a computer, and told me that shaving is to make the penis appear larger. Makes sense without all that bush around it.

Could've been for going to Cancun and his swim trunks too, I really don't know. I don't participate due to the issues you mention when it starts to grow back in. Don't need to be walking around scratching that area all the time, lol. It is very popular with the younger computer crowd for reasons stated above.

CMJA's hard drive was collected and while badly damaged, they were able to extract data from what I seem to remember being 3/4 of its contents. Included in that were nude photos of Travis and CMJA, along with the so-called penis picture that CMJA alleges Travis sent to her.

I say allege since many believe that the fingers in this image bear no resemblance to Travis's fingers. I'm also skeptical, since the prosecution team presented IT experts who testified that Travis's electronic equipment contained no nude images or images that would be considered pornographic. I consider that this should have included his camera, computer and cell phone. Given this information, it does not make sense that Travis transmitted this image to her.

I'm very much looking forward to the day when all of the evidence is released, I know we've all probably reached some incorrect conslusions because we only know some of the story, and don't even know how much we know or don't know.

I too do not think that was a picture of Travis' you-know, fingernails too different and the forensic analysis would have found a copy of that pic (or at least an address to where it was saved on the hard drive if the pic wasn't recoverable), had he sent it to her. Wonder of DB will cover his hands should he testify again? :blushing:

When JM walked him through the end of their relationship, DB testified that Mormons were coming to their house in the spring. Pressed further, he went no later than August of 2006. This was before CMJA met Travis.

When DB was interviewed on the day that he was supposed to appear in court as a mitigation witness, he still held to that 2 year time frame where she changed.

Wish it could be verified if her interest in the Mormon church pre-dated her meeting Travis.

My take on all of this is that CMJA had already been introduced to PPL and saw opportunity there for finding a young man. Her relationship with DB was a dead end and she was ready for something new with much more promise. At that PPL meeting in September 2006, she targeted Travis and honed in on him. Maybe if someone else vulnerable had paid her more attention, she would have set her sights on a different man.

As an aside comment, I wonder what the DT is going to be able to concoct and scrounge up in terms of a mitigation strategy and witnesses? To me it speaks volumes that they are so desperate. May she get her just deserts.

I do not believe DB was mistaken about the young men coming to the house during the summer of 2006. Don't the Mormons require approximately 6 months of studies before being baptized. That would be about right for her getting baptized in November and not 6 weeks, plus or minus, after meeting TA. I often wondered if the reason she went to Las Vegas was for the sole purpose of meeting Travis. Didn't PPL videotape some of TA's presentations?? Is it possible she went to a local meeting and watched his video? I agree that whole DB and breaking up was weird. Almost as if he was relieved to see her go so he could move back to Monterey to be with his son. I think once DB's son is 18 years of age we may hear more from DB. Right now I think JA does have him over a barrel about something his ex may not be happy to hear about. We definitely do not have the whole story. jmo

I've been meaning to rewatch DB's testimony, think I will tonight after Chopped.

I also thought he said the boys were coming by in spring of '06, certainly by early summer, will watch it again and see if memory serves.
