Never, never, never would I believe that he sat squeezed on that shower pan of his own volition.

Was Jodi convicted? If so-for what?
What is the hold-up?
Sorry. I do not know, what's going on currently. But, I would like to know!

Jodi was convicted of first degree murder. This conviction moved them into the aggravation phase. The jury had to decide if the aggravator of cruelty applied and if Jodi should be eligible for the death penalty. It only took them a couple of hours to decide that the murder was especially cruel. They then moved into the penalty phase, where they would decide if Jodi should get the death penalty or not. They could not come to a decision so the jury hung in the final phase. The murder conviction and determination of cruelty still stands. But the last phase will need to be re-tried and a new jury empaneled to decide her sentence.

Is Jody, getting off, for this murder?
Did the Jury, let her off?
Was the Jury hung?
Are they going to reconvene?
I followed this case for months, and then gave up. I gave up even more.... when, there was no verdict.

So, if you don't mind. Can somebody tell us, in a nutshell-What is going on with this case. In a NUTSHELL. would be great. *Don't even get mad at me, for asking for this info.!

Kali's posts of this week help to disprove a contention of the DT. Here is a long standing member of WS who needs clarification as to what is going on with the case. So contrary to what Nurmi says, the case is not all over the news.

Granted, it likely has more coverage in Pheonix as a local story, but it still will be possible to secure a jury for retrial of the penalty phase.

I had never heard of the case until Pistorius shot his girlfriend back in February; I noticed the name Arias popping up under "More Top Stories" on CNN's web page. Until the guilty verdict was rendered, there was no local coverage here and in order to find out about the trial, one had to view either cable channels or online news sources.

Is the JVM book worth buying? I have to know. I want to get Shanna Hogan's book and I know that one is coming out soon.

Hey Tiger ... I just downloaded JVM's book onto my Kindle yesterday. I read into the night for several hours searching for something new. So far, it is all regurgitation from the trial .. nothing new - all stuff we have heard at trial and reading police reports etc. Of course, I am less than half way through the book but will get back with an update.

I really hesitated about buying this book, because I cannot stand JVM - I have difficulty tolerating her screaming commentary - so that's why I chose to "read" the book (as opposed to having to "listen" to her irritating voice).

I don't know if anyone else is reading the book ... but I will update as the pages turn. So far .... thumbs down ... nothing new.

I'm just two states away and there was never any local coverage of this, the first time I heard about it was on In Session when they were running commercials for it. Since the trial before that was a rerun and I didn't realize until they drug out the verdict for an ungodly amount of time, I figured this Arias thing they were advertizing so often was probably also a rerun so I didn't even look at it until Feb., and that's how I found Websleuths, googling around trying to find out what that pic with the pant leg in it was.

I don't think they'll have any trouble seating another jury, and wanting the twitter accounts is just more fluff in an already overfilled lint trap.

Thanks Sydni, I appreciate your review so far, let us know how she wraps it all up.

Hi Jewels! :)

Thanks so much for bringing that here, I hadn't looked at the docket yet today.

8/22/2013 MOT - Motion - Party (001) 8/23/2013
NOTE: DEFENDANT’S; MOTION TO PRECLUDE OR LIMIT LIVE MEDIA COVERAGE OF SENTENCING PHASE RETRIAL

The judge better be in a denial mood, these motions are ridiculous. Yeah, why not, let's have court in secret, only divulge to the people paying the bills what is happening and what form of justice we're meteing out - bullfeathers, I say. This is very aggravating.

Does she not want cameras because she will be in jail garb? I don't know if anyone ever found out what she will wear and if she will be cuffed etc., since she has been found guilty. Any idea? Thanks.

I'm watching the Lifetime movie 'Obsession' (1992). I haven't finished but it's pretty good. Crazy, needy, obsessive, stalking woman who wants to marry the poor guy the day she meets him! Reminds me of JA. Of course the girl in the movie is intelligent and all that. It's available for free online so watch it if you get a chance. Back to the movie now!

I went to the Man Who Knows. He has phones available for inmates to call out from 7:30 a.m. to 10 at night. No incoming calls are permitted. Arias is limited because she only has the one hour outside her cell per day. She may take very quick showers. A couple of centuries back, spit & a handkerchief served for clean-up. Yes, the unlimited number are also monitored.

HeyTuba Are you @ liberty to disclose the identity of the man who knows?...:shush:

More affronts to Judge Stephens, who insures an orderly courtroom quite proficiently and who admonishes jurors on their responsibilities. But The Team's motions challenge the force of her admonitions & follow-up inquiries and her judgment about when and if television cameras would pose a prejudicial intrusion. The defeated motion of June 21 accused her of legislating from the bench. One of these days, the milk of human patience is going to boil over.

Who are these complaining Team Members to dispense justice? There are so many tweets, posts & texts floating around in cyberspace that an attempt to control who does them and who receives them is like trying to control thoughts. So I ask again, who do these teamsters think they are, the NSA? We do know for sure that certain websites are forever flinging mud at Juan Martinez and Esteban Flores and their medical examiner. What if a splat landed, God forbid, on the notebook of a juror!!!
That's almost like the word "guilty" mysteriously appearing on your notebook, as it did in the case the teamsters relied upon. I mean, who could ever recover from THAT? The horror! GMAB

Now you know very well it is Sheriff Joe, don't you? Mr. Arpaio to us.

I knew of this trial from the git-go only because I read here at WS. It was never a big deal trial out here in the East. The only reason it was ever more than a page 20 local news trial anywhere, IMO, is because cable news loved the defense team's focus on sex, diversion that it was.

I'm sure the murderer would love to believe otherwise, but the only truly interesting and compelling aspect of this story is the victim, Travis Alexander. His murderer is just a vicious nothing and nobody.

Why in the world would Travis describe his sexual acts with JA to his friends? He was 30 not 16! He was not supposed to be having sex per his religion.... I have a hard time wrapping my mind around Travis describing his sexual acts to his friends.

I have a easy time believing that Travis Alexander confided in several of his closest friends about his sex life. He had years of experience feeling fat, unattractive, different, and a social outcast. In comparison, he had only a handful of months of believing that he was sexy and attractive enough to warrant blind devotion from a woman who many men found extremely attractive (why they did alludes me, but whatever).

Talking about how this woman couldn't get enough of him would be, IMO, exactly what a sexually naive and insecure man would do in his place. And for what it's worth.... 30 years old sounds way young to this old lady. :)

Perplexing.

The profit or sustenance news organs make from televising this trial is a side subject. It is the public and particularly the People of the State of Arizona who have a right to see this trial. After all, it is prosecuted in their name! Of course, the fourth estate, of which AZ Central et al, is representative & member, has rights of access as well. First Amendment rights. Yes, C.M. has a Sixth Amendment right to a public trial by an impartial jury, so threats to that impartiality are to be weighed as against the previous competing rights in a balancing, which the judge will perform. I think she is well aware that Patty Womack is not willing to support Arias because she has no respect nor sympathy for her. Arias horrifies her. ALaV has reasons other than threats for declining to reappear. Her time on the stand was very damaging to her reputation, her image & her career. She had expected a wildly different result.

As to the voir dire demands, can either Nurmi or Willmott spell excessive? I feel like I just ate a triple dish banana split, extra fudge. Forget spelling excessive, how about seeing reason? No, no, it is the voir dire of the sanctified confessional that is needed, and at least three years to probe every question, every answer, every soul finally given or refused high security clearance to sit on the jury of Whom she is. The reward for so being laid bare is, of course, group audience with the exalted one. "You have been examined and found tolerable."

My take on that is that she has been told not to twitter any more by her DT and is acting very much like a small child testing boundaries. Have you ever seen a child who has been told to stay out of the street and when the mother isn't looking, they stick their toes into the road? It's that same kind of thing... "But I didn't tweet anything new, Mommy, I just changed it a little bit." You and others have noticed the change in the tweet (and date), so her message has gotten across that she is still very much in control or so she thinks.
