I don't want to get into trouble, but I believe JB and KC knew each other before this all happened - however briefly it was.
I have always thought so too.

Just had a thought. :waitasec: I wouldn't be surprised to see some WS posts end up in a book or movie. Might give us all pause to think about that.

Until she's convicted, yes.
So, when she's convicted, can her attorney legally make money off Caylee's death through book/movie deals, photos etc.? Can JB, if Casey signed over pictures, videos, etc. to him, cash in after the trial?
Thanks, MH, that was a great post.
Thinking about this from an ethical standpoint - Baez is doing a job and deserves to be paid. Casey is on trial for her life, basically, and is entitled to the best defense she can afford. If selling photos, which are hers to sell, buys her that defense and pays Baez, is that ethically wrong?
Discuss amongst yourselves
Oooh I wanna know who you think it is too.
Could it be Mike W? I think PB's visit to KC in jail was planned ... someone sent him there and it was for a reason. I wouldn't go visit a friend from High School (that was in jail) that I hadn't seen in years just to tell them "Keep your head up"
There is way more to that story ...
Sorry, if, how, by whom and how much JB is being paid is simply irrelevant to the case at hand. It must be a bad joke that the SA is looking out for KC's best interests by trying to probe into her attorney's fee payment.
JB's repetitive imotions, if one were to reflect upon them, have been necessary because the State has refused to respond in a timely and professional manner.
We only haveBaez's statements on that. It is Criminal Defense 101to claimthe State is withholding Discovery. Show me the PROOF, other than Baez's claims (and he is such aa truth-teller....lol)) of his statements. THEN I will believe it. Don't forget he was asking fior Discovery onthe murder case before chargers were ever filed. Ridiculous - and proof of his inability imo
JB is doing an exemplary job representing KC. I haven't seen him do anything inappropriate or read any inappropriate pleadings. He IS looking out for her best interests and has gathered together some high-profile assistance in the case. He is fighting the State every step of the way, as he should.
I hoipe you are right. He has amassed some of the highest paid, most notee experts in the States without paying any of them. Now that's a coin man for you.
One should ask why the State is so intent on discrediting JB rather than putting their own ducks in a row for trial.
In my opinion, Baez is doingf a bang-up job of discrediting himself with his lies and inappropriatel, unethidcal behavior. I hope is wife is as understanding as you are - if he were my husband, he'd be ona fast train to Divorce Court.;
It doesn't bother me in the least that photos and videos of Caylee are being or have been sold to media outlets by those who own the videos and photos. It wouldn't bother me to learn that people have book deals in place.
Are you saying that it's OK fo9r Caylee's familya to profit from her death? That leads to the slippery sloipe that she was murdered for profit. jmo
Unless it can be shown that JB is acting at the direction of third party rather than making his own decisions based upon what he deems to be in his client's best interest, or acting in his own best interest to the detriment of his client, there simply is no conflict.
Declining a very good plea deal is acting to the detriment of his client. He has chosen to stick to the CASY-IS-INNOCENT scenario, in the face of reality. Most pseople feel he's been in orver his head fromday one.
And no, I don't think the FL Bar will re-write the Cannons of Ethics over this. If there is any ethical violation, there is a cannon to cover it already.
Good points, Chilly! I agree. If the photo rights belong to Casey Anthony, then she has every right to sell the rights to those photos in order to fund her defense, regardless of the subject matter.
I'm not sure, this is what I was wondering. I asked awhile back and no one seemed to know. I can't imagine her being with everyone else in booking, and even if she was, I wouldn't think they are all just standing around socializing. I can't get over the way she said that three other people can confirm it. It was really odd, and I don't think Lee believed her at all. There's just no way Casey would trust some random inmates' recommendation about a lawyer instead of calling her parents, and then figuring out the payments herself.

Where is any proof that they were taken by Casey and therefore her property?/ I think they are Cindy and George's property since it was their camera and they were doing the filming. Ownership will be tough to prove.
I don't think Casey would pay Baez anything even if she could. She's too greedy. jmo Seh'd find another way to pay him in trade or something.
bold addedCasey as the parent would be required to authorize the selling of her minor child's image for publication/commercial use regardless of who took the photo. Unless or until she signs those rights over another party only she has that ability. Keep in mind the power of attorney she gave Cindy was limited to handling of the remains. That limitation was not a coincidence.

Statute in Florida allowing for termination of parental rights. Sometimes it's voluntary; Sometimes it isn't.
Humble-Opinion:wolf: Her wishes may be tossed out the window at some point regarding these matters....
If Casey is legally allowed to rake any and all money before she is convicted, then no wonder JB is stalling for the trial to begin. I understand that when she is convicted, she cannot profit any more from anyone, but what happens to the money she has already profited from and/or the money the family or anyone else has made off this case? Will it have to be paid back?
