I even saw some men doffing their hats and one man bowed so low they were bent double.
And one woman saluted. She wasn't in uniform.

The love for the Queen is really showing.

I wonder if she realised how much she meant to so many.

I've seen some parents show their little kid how to bow their heads. Some people are weeping. Some are blowing kisses. Some have silently said, "Thank you".

Did anyone happen to see the mom who came with her young triplet daughters? Sweetness overload.

I've been amazed at the outpouring of love and affection I have seen this week. I just can't imagine anything happening here (in the US) that would bring so many people together in such a united way. I am in awe.

Sadly, I can't imagine US citizens respectfully and peacefully queuing for hours in a 4-5+ mile line for anything. :(

A dedicated stream of the Queen lying in state in Westminster Hall, London, for people who want to pay their respects virtually.''

What an incredible sight -- changing of the guards. Also, I just saw my first masked individual in 3 days of viewing! (UK must be fairing better with covid than my area).

The Queens 8 grandchildren, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princesses Beatrice, Eugenie, Lady Louise, James Viscount Severn, Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall will mount a vigil at the coffin on Saturday

Prince Harry WILL be in military uniform “at the King’s request”.

The vigil by the grandchildren will last 15 minutes. The new Prince of Wales will stand at the head of the coffin. Prince Harry will stand at the foot. Both in military uniform. Other grandchildren will be in morning coat or dark formal dress.

Palace source: “the grandchildren, at the King’s invitation, are very keen to pay their respects - just as their parents are doing the evening before”.

"Mourners are told to STOP queuing for the Queen:
Government CLOSES queue for six hours as 5-MILE line snaking through London with a 14-HOUR waiting time hits maximum capacity."

"World's royals unite for the Queen:

The Netherlands, Lichtenstein and Bhutan are among the 22 families confirmed to attend Her Majesty's funeral so far."

It is amazing to see from afar.

JFK funeral was, imo at that time, 1963.

RFK’s Funeral train (1968)from NY to Washington had the train tracks lined with ppl as it passed, I was one.

More than 30 arrests have been made so far as part of the biggest policing operation in the Met’s history in the lead-up to the Queen’s funeral.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said by Friday morning 34 people had been arrested for a “range of offences” but described this as “relatively few”, adding that none had been for protesting.

Scotland Yard has not yet been able to provide a breakdown of the offences involved.

''September 16, 20229:05 AM EDT
  • Police officers from almost all over Britain to be deployed
  • Divers, dog handlers, officers on horses to be on duty
  • Police have made 34 arrests in the run up to funeral
LONDON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - London's police force said the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth will be the biggest security operation it has ever undertaken as prime ministers, presidents and royals come together on Monday to pay their respects to Britain's longest-reigning monarch.

The queen's funeral is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of people to London's streets, echoing other important events in Britain's history, including her coronation in 1953, the funeral of former Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1965 and the death of Princess Diana in 1997.''

Among the specialist officers on duty will be divers, dog handlers, police on horses, motorcycle outriders, firearms officers and close protection officers, who will guard leaders and members of the royal family from around the world.

U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are among the most high-profile guests from overseas who have confirmed they will be attending.

Cundy said the massive policing operation would surpass other major policing events in London, including the 2012 Olympics and the celebrations in June for the queen's Platinum Jubilee, which celebrated her 70 years on the British throne.''

I love the Queen. I am so so very sad she has passed. What a special lady. My Mom is a senior, I think it reminds us all that time is so precious, even when it can be so challenging as they age and become frail and perhaps so different than the parents we knew, we should cherish it. I would give everything to have my Dad back, even for 5 minutes. Jmo. :(

The Queen's children, grandchildren, and all her loved ones and everyone else who loved her grieves. My only positive moment is when I think about her being back with her beloved Philip. Her constant strength and guide. Tears here.

Her mother and father are buried there, as are the ashes of her sister Princess Margaret. Prince Philip's coffin, which was interred in the nearby royal vault following his death last April, will also be moved and put next to the Queen's.

The Queen was just 25-years-old when her father died, and her life was changed irrevocably. She and her husband Prince Philip were in Kenya, staying at the Sagana game-viewing Lodge, when they were told on February 6, 1952, that her father, King George VI, had died. He had been suffering from lung cancer.

Meanwhile her mother and her sister Princess Margaret both died within six weeks of each other in early 2002.

Many grieving royal followers have voiced the feeling they are finding comfort in the knowledge the family are to be reunited again in the coming week.

My copy of my favorite portrait of Queen Elizabeth II arrived in the mail.

It's the 1955 portrait by Pietro Annigoni done for the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. I love the beauty of her, her sense of repose, and strength. So young and vital in those dramatic Robes of the Order of the Garter. Annigoni set it in a simple and stark background to emphasize her sole responsibility as monarch. The article says it was unpopular with the public. I think it is extremely beautiful and evocative of her personal dedication.

I think we had one of these in the house when I was a child. Or maybe on a tin of chocolates or shortbread that we kept the sewing threads in. I would marvel at the serenity and sense of history and power in the simple composition. It contrasted her youthful beauty against the burden of monarchy, as epitomized by those robes.
