Ransom note analysis

Good. I was wondering about that. So, basically, someone in their 20's would not have written the abbreviations with a period behind each letter.

I was born in 1996 and I almost always put periods when it comes to acronyms. Especially with initials-- even though I think the S.B.T.C was used because I've read (I'm not sure if this is true, though. Someone correct me!) the Bible that was next to the ransom note writer, who I believe is PR, had been opened to Psalms 35 and 36, which had every first letter from the bottom up spell out S.B.T.C. Psalms 35 and 36:

Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.

Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid.

Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me.

Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."

S.B.T.C, hmmm the million dollar question. I've wracked my brain through the years playing around with those letters and still don't have a clue. One thing though, nowadays with google, (thank God for google), a whole new avenue is opened to the endless possibilities. So, trying to think outside the box a little, I did a little googling with the letters and came up with this: Stand Tall Burton Cummings- 'Stand Tall', being a song sung by Burton Cummings. Here is a snippet of the lyrics...'Stand tall, don't you fall
For God's sake don't go and do something foolish
All you're feeling right now is silly human pride
Oooooh, Stand tall, don't you fall
Don't you do something you might regret later
You're feelin' it like everyone, it's silly human pride'. I had never heard this song, but listened and was a little surprised at the beautiful chording. I don't know anything about the R's musical tastes, aside of what they chose for JB to perform, so I don't know if they had ever even heard of this song, but the lyrics kind of fit the tone at the end of the note, (typical of generic lyrics)....just one of those endless possibilities. yes, the letters would be out of order, but it's just something I found interesting. The song really is nice in a smooth, elegant way we don't hear much anymore, and I can't believe I had never heard it.

I keep thinking it is more of the BTK killer thing.
Something that makes them see scary.
Sex, Bind, Torture, Cut.

Wouldn't that be "S.T.B.C"?

It would be interesting to see a statistical analysis on how many times each of the above indications have been used and how many samples have been taken under each course of judgement. I'd speculate that very few positive identifications are made under any of the above systems

yeah, I've played around with the letters and order. I also thought the letters might stand for something like, 'sabbatical', since all the letters start a different syllable. moo

The only way to argue that Patsy was the author of the ransom note is to start with the presupposition that Patsy was involved in the death of her daughter. The more rigorous analysis established that Patsy could not be eliminated as the author, but also claimed that the probability that she was the author was low. That is, the analysis did not eliminated Patsy, but neither pointed to her.

This distinction is important, and many seem to have some confusion about it. Clearly, if one assumes that either John or Patsy wrote the letter, and experts eliminated John, the author only can be Patsy. But this conclusion, I repeat, needs to establish first that one of the two is the author.

The difference between not eliminated and point to is crucial to understand what we are talking about.

Although I think that RDI theories are wrong, I recognize that are legitimate, and have arguments that support them. But comparing the writing of the ransom note is not one of them.

She didn't have to be involved in the death of her daughter, she could have only been involved in the cover-up of the death of her daughter.

Ok. With involved I want to mean involved in any way, not only killing.

SuperDave,

I know you have a big heart. You went to the frontline of the war and have thrown yourself on the embrasure.
But the was is still going on, seams it`s never ending.
You know, historians are still arguing about the soldiers that thrown themselves on the embrasures , as to were their acts effective or not.

And to that end, tovarisch, I have obeyed Stalin's order to the Red Army against the Nazis: "not one step back."

ST said that.

I take umbrage with the term "presupposition." As with so many things, with me, it's more a question of combining all the outstanding elements. Even if the writing itself was disguised sufficiently to fool the examiners (and that may be more by luck than design), there's still punctuation styles and phrases she and her circle were known to use.

And to that end, tovarisch, I have obeyed Stalin's order to the Red Army against the Nazis: "not one step back."

But you don`t have step back option, you have reached the point of no return, you are at your embrasure and you remain there.

But the battle is still going on.

Then perhaps MacBeth would be more appropriate:

"I will not yield,
To kiss the ground before Young Malcolm's feet,
And to be baited with the rabble's curse.
Though Birnam Wood be come to Dunsinane,
And thou opposed, being of no woman born,
Yet I will try the last. Before my body
I throw my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff;
And damned be him that first cries: 'Hold, enough!'"

Interesting tidbit from JK's AMA interview:

"Ramsey family members think one or more people used Patsy's address book to trace the ransom note. " - JK
