Welcome to Websleuths!!:seeya:

The only thing that causes me to disagree with you well spoken post, is that Rebecca had family and friends. She wasn't isolated or without places or people to turn to.

I would think if she got a text or phone call, that she would have been very upset, but I have a feeling she was close enough to her sister, that she would have called her.

She had been through a breakup before and was 32, I can't see her sinking into a depression deep enough to commit suicide in a matter of hours.

This is of course IMO, and based on what I have read only.

Thanks again for posting and welcome!! I'll look forward to reading more of your posts!!

The phone records would show if JS called or texted RN after her phone conversation with her sister. But I am not even sure they would have access to his phone records, considering he isn't even a suspect or a POI.

So if it was a high C Spine fracture does this mean certain paralysis from the neck down?

This is an interesting read!![ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cervical_fracture"]Cervical fracture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:pdensfracCT.png" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/32/PdensfracCT.png/230px-PdensfracCT.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/3/32/PdensfracCT.png/230px-PdensfracCT.png[/ame]

I believe the thought is that he fell from the 2nd floor hallway/balcony above the grand staircase foyer down to the base of the staircase.

It's possible he struck the chandelier or lighting fixture if he fell from the 2nd story landing. That's the only way I can see such a serious injury occuring. To me, falling down the stairs is out of the question, because the stairwell is not straight down. Of course, freak accidents can occur, but it's highly doubtful.

This is great also!!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinal... fingers, but allows for limited use of arms.

Could you all trust me? We will never know the truth.
Huh?

Thank you, SunnieRN, the Wiki link was an interesting read about a cervical fracture.

This stood out for me: Considerable force is needed to cause a cervical fracture.

I don't mean this offensively, I agree we will never know the entire truth, but I am hoping and praying for justice for Rebecca, as I truly believe this was a murder.

Which is what you would get in a fall. Remember Christopher Reeve? And he was wearing a helmet when he fell from the horse. It didn't save him from a broken neck because of the way he landed onto his head.

Thanks for the welcome! Your posts have made for such intriguing reading these past few weeks. There is next to no info in SD regarding this case. Coronado gossip, yes. So-and-so knowing a police officer who was there, etc. (It seems that right after RN's death everyone knew a Coronado cop.) But nothing factual.

A powerful lesson for us all. Oceanfront homes, immense wealth, luxuries and privilege. But for what, really? As my grandma used to say, "If you don't have your health, it's all a crocka *****."

A fall from a horse is much different than a fall down carpeted stairs. That is why the fall from the balcony makes more sense in my mind. I can equate this to a diving accident. I am sure you are all familiar with those, where people dive into a lake, stream, river, prior to knowing its depth, break their neck and are paralyzed. But..... what caused the fall?

You're correct. It did save him from brain damage. BBM

On May 27, 1995, Reeve's horse had a refusal. Reeve fell and sustained a cervical spinal injury that paralysis him from the neck down. He had no recollection of the incident. Witnesses said that Buck started the jump over the third fence, and then suddenly stopped. Someone said that a rabbit spooked the horse, and another person claimed that it might have been a shadow.

His helmet prevented any brain damage, but the impact of his 215 pound body hitting the ground shattered his first and second vertebrae.

BBM - The answer to that question seems to be more and more important in solving these two cases.

Not if you land head first. I think it could be pretty much the same effect.

But they should have access to RN's phone records, right?

A lot of things can cause the fall. In one version we heard he was reaching for the ball. In another he was sliding down the railing of the staircase. But it could be anything, a young child could be running places instead of walking, trip and fall.

Love your welcome, score.
