I would enjoy reading DeMarte's testimony. But all we get in this Twial (Twitter trial) are tweets and reports from courtroom observers. I really wish we had transcripts of actual testimony

When I told my son about this controversy, he laughed and said, "If all the lights went out then someone flipped a breaker or the power went off due to a storm, an unpaid light bill, or some other unfortunate insident. It didn't happen by wishing or magic" then he laughed again and walked off. I felt stupid I didn't think of it myself. I have an upstairs and it has a lot of lights up there. In order for them all to go off all at once, somone would have to flip a number of breakers because they are not all on the same circuit, or the main breaker. So all I'm saying TexMex is that it is common sense.

2morrow we resume w/ #JodiArias at 9:30am MST. Next witness should be Det Smith, so brace yourselves 4 a day filled w/ *advertiser censored* & virus's :)
-----

I will look for tweets about whatever Dr. DM said about the lights, if I find anything enlightening I will post, just because Samspace is new and wanting to lay this poor dead horse to rest. ;)

Let me ask everyone a question here, "How do you turn all the lights out in your house without flipping the circuit breakers?" I have an upstairs and there are at least ten different switches that turn lights off and on not counting the Lamps that are plugged in. I can't turn those lights out all at one time without flipping a number of breakers or flip the main breaker. Does anyone have a magic house that you can turn lights out from somewhere else in the house without touching the breakers or the switches and plugs that control the lights? Sounds like common sense to me just doesn't exist in some peoples minds. JMHO

I took it to mean something like this, if you can imagine yourself doing it....

You enter the foyer via the front door. It is dark, since there's no one in the foyer. However, there are people elsewhere in the house. There's a bank of light switches to your left on the same wall as the door. They light the foyer, the hallway to the kitchen, the stairs, and the upstairs hallway. There are also switches for some of these areas upstairs in the hallway, and for other areas at the other end of the downstairs hallway. You reach over in the dark and flip the switches in the foyer, forgetting what switch pertains to what light or if it matters. So now you've turned some lights on, but others off. Some of the lights are actually "on" already, and now you've switched them off. And the ones that are off you've switched on.

Jodi wouldn't have had to turn off all the lights for someone to observe "the lights were turned off". I do this by mistake several times a month.

This is how I could see it all playing out. However, this might be the figment of an over-active imagination....

So, with this ruling by the Arizona Supreme Court upholding the 'open up the trial. no more secrets'....I wonder now, Will they also have to open all these things that have been sealed by the Defense? I would love to see TA's bank records and also did he have a 'joint' account with JA, as she testified about. I actually doubt that he would have any account with her name on it, but I've always thought she might have been paying him for the car by stealing from his bank account. Even while he was paying her $200 a month (I think it was by the month) for cleaning his house.

I also read on some court transcript that Nurmi asked for and got sealed the defense expenses for trying this case. I imagine its much more now than it was last year and back then, at last report, wasn't it a defense cost of $2,500?

JMO
For top part bolded, thats a good question. I think we heard that we should get to see the Sidebars and testimony but not sure about what else. Not sure if we would get submitted documents into evidence without having to file a FOI request and that could get expensive.
Maybe some news networks will do some of that for us though.

For the bottom part, I think I recall seeing a minimum of $200 per hour , but it maybe even more than that for Nurmi. And you can just imagine how many hours Nurmi is going to claim he worked on this case. I honestly think he is becoming filthy rich off this 1 case.
And the AZ taxpayers are being shafted by him.

I think he delays this trial for 2 reasons.
1-to keep JA out of prison.
2-to get personally rich.

Its a WIN-WIN for him + JA

This can't be true - any time she was spun around I thought it was Travis doing the spinning.

:D. Is it sad that an innocent two word reference like "spun around" is immediately recognized by us as past testimony/lies?

Amen. I'm sure everyone's straight now that JA threw a circuit breaker in the basement, and that when Travis went to investigate he found her on his computer hacking his bank accounts and diverting his PPL startups.

He chased her away, but she evaded him, then spun around and pulled out her stun gun. Too late, Travis had already gone back inside to turn on the circuit breakers.

You heard it here first.
Once again, this house didn't have a basement according to the Real Estate Company that listed the house.

QUOTE SNIPPED FOR SPACE

Hi there,

It definitely seems that her personal experience has had a profound effect on how she views this case. Abuse does change women. And to some extent, I think many of us take our own life experiences, whatever they may be, and apply them to the cases we discuss. I know Lulu from some other cases and she's not an insensitive person, although I understand how her insinuation of Jodi suffering abuse would upset people. I don't agree with her views on that. These topics are ultra-sensitive and understandably, people are passionate about them. But I also believe we can discuss them from different sides of the fence as long as the commentary remains respectful.

I just posted my response to her on my blog and figured I'd share it here. There may be a few things in my post that people don't agree with, and then again, some will. Jodi is the worst of humanity, basically a violent animal that should never see the light of day. I can't state it any simpler than that. But I also think it's ok to look at the entire situation surrounding this case including Travis, religion, pyramid schemes, family issues, etc etc... for the purpose of learning. What happened with both of them was pretty messed up and perhaps there's a cautionary tale there. To some extent, I do agree that what happened in Mesa was the perfect storm. Here is my response so you can understand what I mean:

I appreciate your thoughts. They’re not the popular ones out in the public, but I appreciate you being brave enough to say them. There are some items I agree with and some I don’t. I do believe that Travis had some issues of his own that were not resolved. I think it goes a little beyond him just being a single guy who was a player. The bigger issue was that he was living a lie – preaching to groups of people and pretending to be living a Mormon life and he wasn’t. Nobody’s perfect, hey, we all do things we know we shouldn’t. But there’s a difference when you are preaching to a group of people and expecting them to live a life that you are lying about.

With that said – I do not believe that he abused her at all. He was pretty darn clear that he wasn’t going to marry her and she kept pursuing him. She wanted sex with him so bad whichever way she could get it. He didn’t make her do anything she didn’t want to. She even moved to AZ after they broke up even though he told her not to. His mistake was that he continued to sleep with her. You wave sex in front of a single man and most of them are going to take it. So I get that and cut some slack. But when he found out she was hacking his accounts, stalking him & his girlfriends, slashing tires, etc… he was crazy to continue to sleep with her. That’s just simply unexplainable, and seems to show his deeper seeded issues.

At the end of the day – Jodi is one insane, evil, beyond-repair criminal. I have no sympathy for her. Whatever she gets, she deserves. Was Travis responsible for his death? No, absolutely not. Did Travis make some very unfortunate, foolish mistakes that played a part in the grand scheme of what happened to him? Yes. Let me be clear. That does not mean he caused his death. I just wish he made different choices. We can learn from this.

The thing that's hard about discussing this case with many people is that emotions are exceptionally high and people tend to be radically on either side of the fence. Myself, and Nick, believe that you can have a civil conversation about all of it without being a supporter, hater, troll.. and whatever else some may call you. I have been called a hater and a supporter online, which is outlandish. Nothing could be further from the truth. Interrogating people and the decisions they make is important in life. It helps us to understand humanity and be better people. Again, thanks for being honest and brave about how you feel. I disagree about LaViolette and about the abuse, but respect that you have a different opinion. Chat soon.

Thank you for replying.

Yes, we will have to agree to disagree but we can have respectful opposing opinions.

And this is mine on the subject.

I don't find Travis any different from females who have endured their own domestic violence abuser... except males are the least likely to report being a victim of domestic abuse.

I did many things.. that I am sure if people had known about them... would have questioned my sanity and reasoning in my 10 year abusive relationship with my ex-husband who came very close to killing me. Did I do unexplainable things? I suppose so to those who have never had to endure the situation I was living at the time. I did everything in my power to appease him in any way I could think of doing so.

Even after I separated from him and he stalked me for 10.5 months, I had sex with him, every time he demanded it...... even though inwardly it tied me up in a knot of anxiety and repulsion. I felt rightly or wrongly ...if I got him to stay calm and gave into his demands then I was safe and would not lose my life by him acting out violently. When I tried to stand tall against him at times is when he would either beat me unmercifully or he would put a .44 Magnum to my head and make me beg for my life, which I did.

Even the thought of me dating someone else (which I hadn't) threw him into an obsessive jealous rage. Finally he took it too far and almost beat me to death putting me in ICU for three weeks. It was at that time it was finally out of my hands altogether and in the hands of the police for once. I never dared call the police on him, not for the stalking, not for vandalizing my vehicle, and not for the other times he had beat me. But this time my best friend found me lying in the floor unconscious. All I wanted was peace and to be able to be a good mother to our children. He, being the great manipulator himself, never hurt me in front of the kids. It wasn't until I was in the hospital they finally knew the truth. After then was the turning point in my life and I got my divorce three months later. Two years later I met the most caring loving man imaginable who would become my husband and with his total love and support it has healed all old wounds.

I do not carry around old tired old baggage of yesterday that would only weigh me down. Eventually, years later, when my ex begged for forgiveness, I forgave him, and have never had one regret that I did. I knew my life was not about the past but about the present and future that held many blessings for me beyond words.

I also do not automatically believe a murderer because they claim they have been abused. I look for evidence and there is none in this case whatsoever. Suffering from childhood abuse as well as adult abuse it has never left me close minded.

So to me, Travis, like most all victims of domestic violence, learned to appease, and stroke the beast he had come to fear. He had already seen what happened when she acted out of rage. I will not blame him in any way for what his victimizer did nor how he chose to try and deal with her.

He said he feared her and he did and we know he had every right in the world to fear her. The only difference in this case is the victim is named Travis......instead of Tammy.

Just because he was a male victim and she was female abuser made her no less deadly. Imo, his fear was no less than any other domestic violence victim and his actions were the same mistakes that so many other victims (men and women) have made and will make in the future.

He, like so many others, thought he could handle it on his own. After all he was a male and men are expected to react differently when a female goes off the rails because of a relationship. One day I hope that people will come to know that men are just as uncertain about what to do in their violent situation as females who face their own hell.

As far as ALV my opinion has not changed. Imo, she was one of the most disgusting witnesses in the last trial. Geff and MF is enough this time and I am glad they did not call back ALV along with all of her biases.

Caught in the act!! :silly: :Banane35: :floorlaugh: : :hilarious: :bananapowerslide:

LOL
We need a list of "JA Jargon"

-Spun Around
-Pop Rocks
-Tootsie Pop
-3 Hole Wonder
-BPD
-Snow White
-Tree + Rope
-Trace Artist

I'm sorry. Im getting carried away. LOL

Diggin....they didn't have a joint bank account. JA used the expression to mean a reservoir of good will, and was accusing TA of overdrawing on it because he hadn't called her.

I am glad you corrected that. It had me wondering why you would end a good post with. "So mercy for JA."

Right. It wasn't allowed in. Yep, likely something to to with JA because otherwise the records would be irrelevant. Nope, not the defense's fault the records didn't come in. It's the judge's "fault" for using her judicial discretion and finding that they were more prejudicial then probative. And yep, you certainly are entitled to speculate. Have at it!

I am afraid you misread my post. I said it was the defenses fault we speculate because they didn't want the truth out there. Are we playing semantics here? Obviiously you are upset by something, no offense was intended in my posts, just trying to make my point without being attacked for it.

When I was on the Chemo ward with my husband several years ago, I saw lots of children of all ages receiving those harsh chemicals along with my husband. The parents looked haggard. You could feel their pain. So I agree with RegNurse, lethal injection is easy compared to what those children go thru and then a lot of them die on top of it. So mercy for JA

samspace, the above post of mine (Post #473) should have included this quote from you. Sorry for leaving out the quote by you.

Last I recall JM was arguing for Smith to testify before the report was completed, saying it would be another month. Nurmi objected to testimony before he could see the report, and said Smith had indicated 2 weeks more from the time the DT interviewed him.

I think JSS read the transcript of Smith's interview and seconded there was no reason for the report to take another month, but don't remember where it was left. Thinking she gave Nurmi additional time to interview Smith? But not sure.

I think JSS did give Nurmi time to interview Smith. IIRC, JM also said the law did not require a report from Smith but there would be one in approximately 2 weeks or so.

*I really think the defense has just about run out of motions to file and out of delays to ask for.

MOO

I am with you diggin, I want to see those bank records, but I don't forsee it happening. And as far as sealing Nurmi's pay for this trial, I think that is public record because it is the public's money that is paying him. The news media got that information before and I think all you have to do is write a FOI letter (Freedom of Information) Why would he want it sealed except to keep the Arizona tax payers from knowing how he is bilking them. JMHO
