Can someone tell me what those new numbers to the left refer to, in my case "6"
TIA
If you hover over it, or any other image under our names (and other places as well), it'll tell you what those things mean. :)

In your case...

And on 8/21, it will be replaced by a 7 (and so on).

Mine says I've been an active member for 10 years, but I joined in 2012 and haven't stopped being active since then.

Or are you not considered active for a couple of years after you join.
I think mine should be 13 years but I lurked here for a year or so before I joined.

There were a few bugs in the way the numbers were calculated. I fixed them last night, but I think the badge-award-script just completed a pass, so your account should have a '13 Year' badge on it now.

I'm seeing a 13... :)

As we have date joined ,why are we now being given badges for number of years as a member?

It's a way for Websleuths to give more recognition to our most loyal users.

See, some find the Joined field a cold and easily-overlooked bit of content. For example, I have a visual-processing disorder that makes it difficult to see small text in a sea of small text unless I'm specifically looking for it. A big-old gold-medallion with frickin' wings and a huge 12 is much harder to miss!

I have to enlarge the badge to see the number!!!

Good feedback! A few people thought they were too big when I originally made them. Here's how they would have looked during the beta-test:

and here's the way they look now:

The top one shows the wings.
I don't see that on the one now. I have pretty good eyesight but it's hard to see what the design is meant to be.

Seeing something clearly should not be dependent on using a large screen .
I've never used a small screen so don't have first hand knowledge of it. With that said, I remember in the Gaby Petito thread where a bunch of us saw the back of her van door close, and a lot of people said they didn't see it move. Finally one of those that said they didn't see it move posted back that they just viewed it on a regular computer (larger) monitor, and finally saw it close. They couldn't see it on their cell phone. *shrug*

I have used a large screen to look at certain things ,but that is different to seeing something seen by everyone under our names.
On the device I am using I can easily read joined Aug 9 2012 but I cannot read the 12 in the badge.

Edited to add . I am not particularly worried about not seeing the number in the badge ,but would be upset if the date joined was removed and the years badges were used instead.

I hope a solution can be found for the spam outbreaks as it appears to be quite a regular problem and often timed for when the mods are not available.
I don’t mean to get OT but I think I’ve missed the spam outbreaks. What happens?

[mod snip]

Asking so I can help report.

Glad you asked. It is spam originating from other parts of the world and has no connection to any cases.
Whenever you see a post or a thread offering something that is way off topic, then it is spam and it needs to be reported. We have had spam threads talking about:
Business School
Airline Travel
Discount Luggage
and everything else.
Do not hesitate to report something you think is spam. We will check, and if you are incorrect, that is just fine. It is no problem. I would rather you report if you are not sure than not report.
Thank you LetsSolveIt

Wow! So it sounds like it’s usually really random stuff and OT.

Tricia, thanks so much for clarification. Will be vigilant in watching!
