Their names were read off in court. Including the married one. BK recorded some in her reporting from the courtroom yesterday

Thanks, I know. I am subscribed to BK. But, from i'm reading it seems it was not right for Nurmi to say the names out loud like that.

I don't see the big deal because they don't need to be secrecy because they were just texting with Travis.

I was wondering if the innocent women who were named today by the defense have any rights to file some type of slander case? Maybe slander is not the right word but something like it...seems sad that their names are being dragged under the bus too!! Its hard to tell from the tweets but it sounded like the defense was implying something sexual

I'd put good money on it that those texts were a joke between Travis and the women (just being crazily outrageous) and/or deliberately sexual to rile up Arias when she hacked into his messages (as per the "say hi to Jodi" exchange with Michelle, I think it was). If so, I imagine Juan will make that clear at some point.

Did JA ever live on her own? Even for a short time, did she ever rent her own space, pay her bills, live as an adult without sponging off others? I cannot remember if when she returned to Mesa, if she rented her own place or was couch hopping?

There was a time when in Mesa she either rented a room or rented out a room. I cant remember the gals name now but one of them moved out due to Jodi's "issues" I remember the Mother of the girl commenting but so long ago i cant be of any other help.

ASFAIK you can't do anything, in terms of slander or libel, when something is said in open court during a trial. It's protected somehow, and it should be. I don't like what the defense team did, at all, but I understand why it's allowed. AZL has commented on this quite a bit through this trial and the Florida trial.

IIRC, AZLawyer said it's allowed because it's up to the jury to decide what's true, after listening to both sides.

Exactly. Since when is it a crime for a single guy to communicate with women with flirty texts?

I agree. Nurmi (Jodi) is intent on hurting anyone and anything Travis cared about.
Maybe Nurmi should tell Jodi that texting with a dozen women negates her theory that he's interested in little boys

Another excellent recap, including a number of fully explained points which were never conveyed in the tweets. The other day (?) there was a discussion regarding how he's managing to "record" all this info, and leaving some to wonder about his accuracy.

In one of his posts--or perhaps in the comment section--he made mention that he uses a smart pen. I've been considering getting one for my daughter before she heads off to college. Finding out he uses one just may have pushed me closer to purchasing one.

Hope it's ok to post link

I have found myself impatiently waiting for Paul's synopsis of each trial day.

He is a terrific writer and makes me feel I am right inside of the courtroom with everyone else.

I ordered his book today.

It's so long ago it seems like they might have forgotten, just like you and I have.
They did hear about it.

From the article:

"Nurmi told jurors they need to understand a little more about the people involved in this case before making a decision about what should happen to his client. The attorney, whose appearance has significantly changed since the first trial, described Arias’ background as horrific, detailing alleged abuse at the hands of both her mother and father.

Nurmi noted the defense will present experts to discuss how abuse at an early age can affect someone and that will play a substantial role in the defense’s call for leniency."

Wow, wow, wow- this has been totally debunked since Nurmi's opening statements! I am sure this fact won't be lost on the jury... and they won't be too happy about it either. I am loving Jodi Ann's arrogance and delusions- they will end her up in the death chamber- with good reason. Nurmi and Wilmott are fools, along with their mitigation "specialist"!

Wasn't this the one who said a parade of men streamed through JA's room at all hours of the night? (Not a literal parade...well, maybe).

JA fan chit chat notwithstanding evidently JD was quite clear that JA didn't have a criminal record that she "knew of", not that she didn't have one.

True, no record. But she did participate in criminal behavior: stealing her grandfather's gun, taking TA's ring, getting fired for taking food at the restaurant, hacking into TA's accounts online, etc. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg. jmo

So true, and what I admire about Travis is that he had close friends of both sexes that he turned to and confided in. That is very healthy, as far as I'm concerned. I would imagine part of his comfort was the fact that he had so many sisters and had a close relationship with his grandma. It says so much about his character. I really believe that the women that Travis wanted to marry but didn't want to marry him was more because of his chosen career and the PPL/pyramid stuff than Travis personally. That is what I got from listening to Linda Ballards interview, recently, anyway.

No wonder the DT is burying the judge in motions and sidebars and hearings about the first amendment and computer *advertiser censored*. They have no case at all. Their client lies every time she speaks or writes.

I don't care anymore whether or not she gets the DP. I'm glad that the prosecution is proving that TA was never an abusive pedophile. Just a normal single 30 year old man trying to make a nice life for himself.

I'm thinking several of the jurors have come to the conclusion from what Demarte said that JA has an antisocial personality disorder, just as we all are. Alot of characteristics flew out of her mouth that almost anyone in a position to be a juror would signal to them APD. Even if Dr. D didn't exactly go there. Judging from the past, there was either a "data point" that didn't quite match up (that we don't know about), there is JM strategy behind the decision, an order from the judge, or "the fat lady hasn't sung yet."

Also, so far nothing has been said about MMPI scores. IIRC on that test, JA came out very high on the psychopath scale. Didn't Dr. JDM say in the guilt phase that there is not enough academic research on that scale for her to make any definitive judgments?

Since there are so many stones still unturned on the whole BPD schtick, I'm betting JM is waiting for KN to fall into a trap, which he'll exploit in re-direct.

Oh I believe there are stones to be unturned and plenty of them and that is what the DT are afraid of, yet they are opening the doors for them to be brought in and they know it, that is why they are so angry. I think they will soon just wrap this up as they know what they have kept out so far is being brought in. If this stuff had been brought in in the first trial this would have ended with a verdict instead of a hung Jury and they know it. The State will bring in more and they know it because they opened more doors, so it is time to end it before the whole story comes out and that is one thing even they do not want to happen. Why do I feel this way, because there are too many gaps in this case and those gaps are what ties everything together and they do not want any Jury to hear that.

JA meltdown and her slamming Nurmi tweet....

BK provides exact time for each of her notes. Reconstructing from that, the tweet about Nurmi was sent out after the lunch break, 7 minutes after court was set to resume.

At the exact minute the tweet was posted JSS was on the bench speaking to the bailiff and JA's guard. JA was in the back room. Minutes more passed with the guards going in and out of the back room. One spoke with JM, leaving JM shaking his head. Don't know where MDLR was (tho the obvious guess is she was with JA); but it seems that Nurmi at least was in the courtroom.

After about ten minutes of this drama JSS called the jury in. JA was still in the back room. JA returned to the courtroom literally one minute after the jury was called.

It looks like she believed she could halt proceedings by throwing a hissy fit and refusing to return. She must have been amazed that everyone, including JSS, was willing and able to move along without her. :)

I believe the Commandments are also a Jewish "thing", since they show up in the Old Testament. But really, the values expressed in the commandments are a code of behavior that a large percentage of the world subscribes to, in many religions and by many folks who do not consider themselves "spiritual" or religious. There are cultural reasons why this might not look obvious to us (e.g. the code of behavior doesn't cover protections for women in many areas of the world), but, hey, we have those here in the U.S., too (e.g. for hate crimes often not investigated or prosecuted).

I have lived all over the world, and it's amazing how consistently these "rules to live by" show up everywhere.

This is not at all a cultural thing that JA is evil, by the way. Her behavior would be universally condemned. I'll bet that even includes ISIS, who are a veritable potluck of evils themselves.

Interesting that in her interrogation, JA reminded Flores that no where in the ten commandments does it state that:
That thou shall not fornicate :giggle: And she's all about the Ten commandments, doncha know

I truly thought I had seen the worst of the worst in Steve Feldman and Jose Baez when it came to defense attorneys and their demeanor and courtroom behaviors. I was so wrong.

Nurmi to me emits as much mean spiritedness and evil in the courtroom as his guilty client.

To keep this up for months/years on end while taking so long to do it shows a man who knows he is hurting innocent victims both living and dead and he just doesn't care. In fact it is as if he relishes in it. Not only does he do it continuously but he repeats or has the witness repeat things over and over again.

He seems to have no capacity to judge his jury. I don't think I can remember another case where the DT doesn't try to read the jury and takes cues when to shut up and sit down.

And he doesn't seem to be a people person. He was so rude, vile, and condescending to Dr. DeMarte and he does it with such glee. He doesn't seem to realize that being respectful to DJD is a much better route. He already knows she is going to answer his questions so she certainly isn't combative whatsoever. It makes him look boorish and a big heavy weight bully. Imo, the jurors cannot possible like the way he handles some of the witnesses. From what I have read, when Juan was up questioning DJD the jurors were writing notes like crazy but once Nurmi got up and became an attack dog, the note taking stopped.

While Juan can be curt and want the questions asked to be answered quickly he does not stoop to the abhorrent type of behavior the DT does. And then defense lawyers wonder why they are detested by so many.

Of course I am not a juror on this case but the times I have been a juror I did not like it when the attorney badgered a cooperating witness. It made me think they knew THAT particular witness had really hurt their client and all they did was amplify that to the jury by pouncing.

I do think he will become one of the most disliked defense attorneys by the way he has handled himself in the well of the court throughout. He and Wilmot have been disgraceful at times by their antics. imo

Even his physical appearance gives off a mean spirited persona and I know this is petty but somehow to me he comes across as one who isn't hygienically clean. Maybe that comes from him constantly picking his nose during the first trial. GAG. He doesn't come across as a professional who is trying to make sure his client gets a fair sentencing phase. It goes way beyond that to the extreme. I have seen victim blaming to some extent by other DTs but never to this extent or for this long. The DT literally makes everyone else the bad guy knowing full well that the only one involved that is bad to the bone is their client. Even their so called experts don't budge one inch and Arias is being painting as something she is certainly not. Yet DJD who is truly professional speaks the truth in her answers whether they help or hurt the state. That is honor and truth.......something none of the DT knows anything about. KN seems delighted to put forth the lies and push them down the throat of the jurors as much as his client has tried to do by her constant pathological lying throughout and she isn't through either, imo.

It is very upsetting to see such downright mean behavior. Sometimes KN acts like he thinks he is on the Jerry Springer show instead of a court of law.

And some of the best attorneys I have seen have been defense attorneys. But they were respectful in the court at all times .......even to state witnesses and they got the exact answers they wanted without ever having to demean the witnesses.

Do you perhaps think that when all the trial ballyhoo with Jodi comes to a complete end, that charges might be brought up for MM for threatening?

No, he's in New Zealand and any online threats were made years ago IIRC.

I think Juan would rather have the jury believe that Travis had oral sex with CL than that he was deliberately taunting his mentally disturbed stalker.

Thanks, tsitra01

I wrote a reply to your post but that too, went poof. Don't know if the problem is my computer or the website.

I'm so sorry to read about your loss. My heart goes out to you--truly. For what it's worth, my much adored older sister suddenly died a few months ago and I'm still trying to deal with her death. I wonder if that is why some or even many of us are members here--we're trying to wrap our minds around the bad s**t that life arbitrarily throws at us.

Rest assured, however, that we have known genuine love. We've given our heart to others and had the love reciprocated. Big hugs to you.

Very sorry to hear of your sisters death. I'm sure she loved having such a loving and caring sister like you. Thank you for your kind words.

Interesting that in her interrogation, JA reminded Flores that no where in the ten commandments does it state that:
That thou shall not fornicate :giggle: And she's all about the Ten commandments, doncha know

Said as she giggled coyly, as if she really thought Flores would be susceptible to the charms of a lying, coldblooded, unremorseful murderer.
