We went through some of the possibilities on another thread. My favorite was that there was an out-of-country mitigation witness (not subject to the court's jurisdiction or even to the jurisdiction of a court who could order a telephonic appearance from somewhere else in the US), who agreed to testify by phone/Skype but only if [list of demands].

Yes, I read those but the media have been reporting that it was JA as fact, corroborated by 3 witnesses, and Tweeterland have seemed to accept it as well. Also my theory that such a bold and narcissistic demand as bending the constitution fits so well with JA's personality. I know there's a theory that she could have been seen on the stand but was just laying foundation for the actual mystery witness. Could be, I guess.

She doesn't even have to give a reason to the appeal court?

tia

I recall reading somewhere that JSS had provided the appeals court with her reason, which is under seal. I do not recall where I read it and it may have been a tweet so take it from that perspective, please.

Then the judge would have sent them to the viewing room and not sealed the video recording or the transcript. And not concealed the name of the witness.

Sue also said that JA's family wasn't told who the witness was. She might be just assuming the leak is true.

Yes, there could still be a settlement conference re: sentencing.

She kept talking about how she had to prepare for her settlement conference, but I don't see that happening at this point. Wishful thinking on her part??

Don't forget in her allocution, she attempted to point to her family ( "...them...") but didn't quite hit the mark. She really could have cared less where she pointed her finger.

She is one very strange individual to say the least. I truly don't expect to see another allocution quite like the one she did. She might as well have been in a boring meeting while putting on a very boring power point presentation. No warmth to it at all. Cold and removed.

I notice that and she half-assed put her hand out and didn't really even point at them. She didn't look at them either.

You are right, imo, she couldn't care less about her family..........none of them..........she uses them as pawns to save her pathetic life and that is all they mean to her.

IMO

One reporter in the media reported it as fact. He has a fairly good local reputation, or so it seems. We'll see. As for the lay (nonmedia) tweeters in Tweeterland, all bets are off. Rumors and conspiracy theories are rampant there. Beware! :floorlaugh:

Thank you. That does make sense that she would at least have to give an explanation to the court.

IMO

I also saw Jeff Gold say it, and even Beth Karas said it was 'apparently' her.

The judge is required to give her reasons, but apparently doesn't plan to do so.

Sorry to bombard you with so many questions, AZL.

But for argument sake lets say the mystery witness IS JA. If it is then what reason do you think JSS will give to the appeal's court why she did this?

tia, once again.

Yeah, if this goes on for days or weeks then we know for certain it is JA.

She is the only one that can tell lies for that long.

IMO

With the exception, in my opinion, of Nurmi and Willmott who ran with those lies for months. They reiterated, ad nauseum, every salacious word, every sexual act, every text, "violent act" daily. They used their so called experts as a vessel to get those words heard again and again, through their questions and the expert's "corroboration." I will never believe that the defense believed the dirt they shoveled. But they were eligible for an Olympic win for shoveling.

I just realized something..... the "Freaka' From Yreka" used the middle name of Travis's sister Allie when she sent those Iris's to poor Grandma. It wasn't because Travis liked that name for a little girl. Pure evil!!!!!! I hope they use a dull needle when the time comes. :maddening:

I missed that part. You mean she signed her name as someone else or made her middle name 'Allie?'

"I need my testimony to be kept secret because I'm so afraid of the Alexanders and their supporters. They just blindly attack anyone who tries to tell the real truth in this case."

"Dear Jurors, feel sorry for me because Juan Martinez keeps yelling at me. Also, look at these angry texts from Travis."

Reminds me of one of the favorite tactics of a particularly manipulative person I used to have to deal with. He'd set about being a complete jerk for a period of time, alienating everyone, then whine and complain about how mean and cold we were for not wanting to spend time with him. He was also fond of the "don't blame me for getting angry when you're the person who made me angry" game.

Lol.. I actually just had an image flash through my head of smacking an old TV to get it to work better. (Kids: back in the olden days, we used to smack TV's. I don't think it ever helped, but we did it anyway.) Some people you just want to smack to get them to work better. (I've never smacked anyone, not that the thought hasn't crossed my mind.)

Jodi & Co. are of course waaaaay beyond being jerks. They are shameless, cruel and utterly reprehensible. They are so good at group evil, I can't believe that this is their first go-round. I wonder how many skeletons are in that family's closets.

I can almost hear her voice as I read your quotations of what she might say.

I suspect this killer will attempt to show emotion...remorse...sadness, or whatever else she might be able to pull off in front of the jury. She cannot do that in open court because she knows her attempt will bring ridicule for how phony, how insincere, it all is. She wants to do it in closed session--just her and the jury--because she believes speaking casually to a dozen and a half people in a jury box is safe whereas in open court it is less casual and more open to critique, etc.

That said, Arias has no legal or constitutional right to this concession and if she got it just for the asking it is wrong on all levels and IMO the judge should face consequences for her ruling. However, I do not see JSS as ignorant. She knows the law and if she doesn't, she takes motions under advisement before ruling. Her ruling on this so quickly makes me suspect there is something else at play--something that we do not know about and that was not obvious to whoever it was that claimed they "saw Jodi Arias on the stand."

What I suspect is that there is someone else who will testify in closed court. They may have already done so and if the appeals court orders this courtroom open to the public for the rest of the trial there will be no harm/no foul because the testimony that was once elusive is now in the box. Courtroom opens, media and spectators return, the trial moves forward and all is right again with the world because this killer will be sentenced and taken away forever. In addition, future AZ courtrooms will remain open once the appeals court has ruled closing under such circumstances to be unconstitutional. Or, in violation of AZ law, whichever the case may be.

If the courtroom remains closed on Monday we will know that the secret testimony has not concluded and if sometime during the day the appeals court orders the courtroom open, it remains to be seen if the person refuses to testify further (in the event their testimony has not concluded). I doubt we will know that soon if this was all done solely for the killer to speak or if it was done to ensure her witness could testify.

JMO.

I hope this isn't too OT. What do they do with lifer inmates when they get very elderly, do they keep them there or put them in some kind of nursing home?

Oh, that last sentence is priceless, especially after you see the video posted on our sidebar of their vent room. Hypocritical, to say the very least.

If these screen shots are taken from FB please provide a link and paraphrase what is said. If it is from a tweet it is fine.

Jodi's supporters are all pot-stirrers and drama-queens. I shudder to think of their personal lives... :scared:

They usually stay in prison til they die. If they become ill they are moved to the prison infirmary.
