Funny, but I think the only reason a news outlet is publishing this is because of the suppression order, otherwise it'd be full on speculation, pointless comments like 'he seemed such a nice guy', photos from his elementary school, etc.

I feel like the suppression order has only brought more attention to this already high profile case, especially given his name was released hours before it was all redacted.

It's 11:00 AM now, let's see if it gets thrown out!

Absolutely.
Trying too hard always has the opposite effect.

"Streisand effect" ??

im thinking he was high on coke and physically attacked and murdered her, and later a dented car of a friends may have been used to move her body, in my opinion
I think it is just as likely that he did it stone cold , clear as a bell, he is just a born killer. It suited his purpose, whatever that may have been, that he needed nothin to jack himself up for it, it just seemed the thing to do on a sunny Sunday morning in the bush.

About Court this morning - Re the suppression order …

Late on Thursday, defence lawyer David Tamanika notified the Office of Public Prosecutions he would withdraw the application for a permanent suppression order, citing the “uproar” caused by the application.

It comes after lawyers for the accused, the son of an ex-AFL footballer, notified prosecutors they would withdraw an application for a permanent suppression order after a magistrate on Thursday temporarily suppressed his name, address and date of birth amid fears he could be at risk of self-harm.

Partner at Thomsom Geer Laywers, Justin Quill criticised the granting of the order and says he suspects the order will be lifted this morning.

“If you’re going to ask me what’s the reason for it [being granted], my answer to that is no good reason … we consider there just wasn’t a proper basis for making a suppression order in that case,” he told Tom Elliott

Yep as simple as he wanted to allegedly kill & poor Sam happened to be there. IMO

Yes, seems like the lawyer has notified prosecutors that he would withdraw the application for permanent suppression of the accused's name, address and date of birth.

His lawyer seems to be having an uphill run, a sulking silent client, who's only hope of having the slightest chance of a slightly less awful outcome is co operation with the police.....not an easy job. .....

I am also hoping that today, even though it is a horrible headline, that the words "found deceased" has been added.

NOW TELL THE POLICE WHERE SAM'S BODY IS!!
As police state, SM has been murdered by this person, they have evidence.
Not providing any info where SM's body has been taken, as others have suggested, could be he does not want details of what happened to SM: perhaps brutal.

It also could be due, to his lawyer stating, 'don't disclose anything', keep stating 'no comment'.

This method, could be used as bargaining, down the track.

However, as the guy has been charged with murder, police will further investigate: with what they now have, and further work, I believe her body will be found, following his movements, WITHOUT the cooperation of this guy.
Therefore, his 'not disclosing' will be AGAINST him.
HEE HEE.
Al my own thoughts, having followed from day 1, often in the background.

You would think this would get easier to deal with after so many “deceased” cases we see. Most often we can tell which way a case is going to go, yet each time, there is always that sliver of hope in the back of my mind. I suppose we get vested in these cases and at some point it comes to an end. RIP Samantha…

Not a hit and run, absolutely, but IMO that doesn’t rule out a vehicle being involved, e.g, hit her then did something deliberate after the fact that ended her life, moved her etc.

The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that there is only one charge. As we know the police often file multiple charges to get one to “stick”, if there were further events after the fact I feel like they would have laid additional charges.
but wouldnt there also be an interfering with a corpse charge, moving sms body?

Thanks for that. I'm not Australian and had never heard of this being done before.

My main question is, how can they enforce an order like that outside of Australia? Now that we live in an age of instantly available online news from around the world, it seems a bit odd to think they can stop anyone anywhere from publishing the man's name. Sure they can stop Aussie news outlets from publishing it, but if a newspaper in Dubai or a vlogger in New York continues to publish his info, what is an Australian court going to do? The information is still all over social media.
Geoblocking can be used to stop Australian IP addresses from accessing those articles or from appearing in search engine results. Once a suppression order is made, applications can be submitted to google etc

I really feel for his parents/siblings in all this, especially with his father being mentioned in every news article.

That being said Samanthas family deserve to know where she is. I hope his parents have some influence over him and convince him to cooperate with police.
