We are presuming that the initial lawyer was just an initial lawyer.
He does not seem to have the experience for a murder case (judging by his website).
His initial lawyer was touted as being one of the top three lawyers in the area for traffic violations in one article that I read.

imo
Thank you. Interesting.

Interesting
If this was done when they had their eye already firmly on PS, the police conference makes a number of interesting comments
- If anyone has information on person/s or vehicle, please get in contact
- Family business is absolutely part of the investigation and a no comment on questions re bikie links
- subsequent search was to look for small items. Perhaps watch and/or phone have actually been found. There would be no reason for Police to announce any of this publicly imo

I honestly dont think the family business is part of this whatsoever. However its an interesting comment if they knew a lot more at the time of this conference than the public knew about. Is there ANY possibility this could still be linked to drugs/bikie/family business?

In any event, the watch and phone must provide a pretty compelling picture of what has happened, they would have a visual map of her exact movements right up until the watch/phone was removed. But they must have more evidence than just that to charge with murder..
Bbm
Im also wondering if pings and watch data is enough, even if PS phone pings match up, if his vehicle was caught on cctv , would they need the footage to show him personally being the driver for eg.
I linked an article a few pages back about a group of youths who stole cars and whilst on a "10 day crime spree" deliberately ran into cyclists (this was in Victoria and the 10 day timespan would have been about a week before SM dissapeared IIRC)
If PS was to claim for eg that he came home, passed out leaving his phone in his car, and his vehicle 'must' have been stolen overnight as it was parked in a different spot upon waking and had damage...that could account for all sorts of the evidence we are assuming police may have.
Im not saying this would hold up if not true, but it could possibly happen, even evidence of a crime inside the vehicle could be blamed on the thieves.
I think they must have more to actually place him personally at the scene.
Also, I wonder if PS has actually remained silent...or if he has given some kind of story like the above, would they still report he is not cooperating with police?
It seems like it might be pretty easy to frame someone with pings and data alone.

new Search for Sam

Search and Rescue, the Mounted Branch and Police Air Wing will be searching the Buninyong Bushland Reserve on Wednesday.

Buninyong is about 10km away from Ballarat East, where the mother-of-three was last seen on February 4.

'''I think they must have more to actually place him personally at the scene.'

Yes.. I really think they do have a lot more. More than theory, more than conjecture, more than suggestion.

'''Also, I wonder if PS has actually remained silent...or if he has given some kind of story like the above, would they still report he is not cooperating with police?''''

According to the police, he has said nothing. He has not admitted to it, he has made no comment about it, he has not spoken about it , to police, during 28 hrs questioning. This also means, he has not denied it, or rejected their premise. He has not given any story whatsoever, according to VICPOL. In fact, VICPOL have not stated in so many words that he 'is not co operating'... they just say , he has not spoken at all. They leave it up to us to make our own conclusions, I guess.

The theory of his car being stolen by anyone else seems to be redundant, in that he, and no one else has been charged with the murder of Mrs. Murphy. That is, there appears to be no evidence that points to anyone stealing any vehicles associated with the suspect.

Just heard on Ballarat local radio.. VicPol are mounting a new search atm for SM’s body in the south Buninyong bush reserve following new information .
Public have been advised their help is not required .

I wonder if he finally figured out that his silence was a barrier to himself, and no one else.. OR>. .. . someone outside broke the code and blabbed.. ( again, Benjamin Franklin comes to mind. '3 can keep a secret , if 2 are dead '...)

Just crazy that a case like this (with almost identical ages of accused and victim) exists to support your theory. I see how it's plausible now.
The scurge of humanity continues to disgust me even more.

The LE spent a lot of their time combing through MM business and there was a lot of fingerings in public. Could this come down to SM diligence in an area or avenue that may have caused rumblings? I wonder? Sometimes we have to deal with the worst scenarios in order to get to the truth.
And his school mate said he tinkered with cars and wanted to make them environmentally friendly. Maybe he approached the panel shop and spoke with SM

I do wonder if police have covertly put cameras in the bush & have been watching who visited etc??

I know NSWP have done this before ( but it was after a body was discovered & they set up a "fake" crime scene - close by to the real crime scene & released this to the public to see the reaction from the perp

Fake crime scene

Carly McBride became the face of Missing Persons Week until her body was eventually found by two bushwalkers in 2016, two years after her disappearance.

Today the court heard the police released fake imagery of the location of her remains to the media as a tactic to find her killer.

Mr Carr said that Mr Newson was recorded in a telephone conversation describing a part of the real crime scene, at a time when that location was still hidden from the public.

They may have received more forensic data too by now, maybe his google maps location data etc?
