The thought has crossed my mind that the police may have already found Mrs Murphy's body and only told the immediate family. Just a thought
Hello @BreakingNews,
Thanks!
  • I too have wondered the same - for many reasons - one being how *quiet* petal has been as he sits in remand on his sorry (I hope) a r s e.
Also, missing woman & Ballarat again: Police renew plea for information on Ballarat woman missing for more than a month:
  1. Poor Renee, she looks so cold. I pray she's found safe.
  2. I'm so glad the residents helped her.
  3. I hope the pussy-cat is ok, I'm sure it is - it's just the article does not say.
  • On another note entirely - to *all* the lovely WS participants who valiantly tried to train this old dog how to 'add double quotes' - thank you so very much - but - I'm done - some things cannot be learnt - my brain & my fingers do not talk to each other for DQs ;)o_O;)
Finally, always thinking of Samantha Murphy, her family, all those who know & love her, the Ballarat Community & the coppers who are invested in finding her - I wish *all* of them *all* the strength in the universe.
MOO

All you can do is
"Keep trying".

Maybe one day
you will surprise yourself!! :D

I’ve tried to keep up with the thread and am not sure if this has been discussed BUT does anyone else think finding the phone was a police strategy? In that the police possibly have had it for a while and planted it in the dam and then invited the media to capture the moment?

I still have a feeling (MOO) that someone else was involved in helping PS after the murder…maybe finding the phone was a way to draw out the person who helped?

MOO
What's interesting is that they have continued to search, and allowed the public to know in advance and to see them continuing to search and without keeping the phone secret, they could have. It seems a very tactical decision to go public with the finding of the phone, jumping around, hugging, high fiving etc in front of the media etc and for this to get out there

It is still possible for the PS Summary date hearing to be changed, Lachlan Young, who's Summary was scheduled for July 23rd has had his changed now to September. Lachlan, you may remember, decided to murder his girlfriend, Hannah MacGuire right when Ballarat was teeming with detectives, SES, police, army searchers, people out watching, this did not affect Lachlan's murderous impulses at all. His hearing was scheduled before PS, even though his crime took place after PS, mainly because Lachlan went along with a court appointed barrister early.

Lachlan has a matter that probably will be attended to before his Summary, and that is a burglary committed by Lachlan and his father, yes you read that correctly, apparently Young Snr and Jnr went on a little robbery spree around Ballarat, but Dad is not involved in the murder, as far as is known currently. Lachlan's stuff is now to take place in September 12th..

So just a heads up that PS stuff could be moved on to a later date.

It was back in Feb when Sherele Moody posted Samantha Murphy as the 15th woman murdered this year.. .it seemed a horrible circumstance, 15 women murdered, the year only just begun... . unimaginably, this morning, Sherele posted the 51st woman to be murdered this year, found tied up in a bag in the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne.. ... the 50th was Lucia Cortez, murdered in the Filipino city of Tanguay, along with her husband.

Update: A woman is charged with killing the 49-year-old woman dumped in the Marybyrnong River in Melbourne.

(sorrry about the size of this, done in a hurry!)

This one is unusual , and it needed to be bunged up as soon as possible, as to whether it now can be linked to a mans' body found in the river as well is not known yet,, ..

Further to Trooper’s post above, news just to hand, the man is not linked…

“Detectives are also investigating the discovery of a man’s body, which was found floating in the same river just 90 minutes prior in Footscray.

Police have confirmed the man’s death is not linked to the death of the woman and is not being treated as suspicious.”

Edited to quote the correct OP

All very odd, Marg!!. thanks for that update, what on earth is going on in Footscray??

''''On Tuesday, Homicide Squad detectives arrested a woman and a 15-year-old boy from West Footscray and the pair were both interviewed by police.

While the boy was released without charge, the 49-year-old woman was charged with murder and remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 17.

Police believe the women were known to each other.'''''
