  • On another note entirely - to *all* the lovely WS participants who valiantly tried to train this old dog how to 'add double quotes' - thank you so very much - but - I'm done - some things cannot be learnt - my brain & my fingers do not talk to each other for DQs ;)o_O;)

All you can do is
"Keep trying".

Maybe one day
you will surprise yourself!! :D

I’ve tried to keep up with the thread and am not sure if this has been discussed BUT does anyone else think finding the phone was a police strategy? In that the police possibly have had it for a while and planted it in the dam and then invited the media to capture the moment?

I still have a feeling (MOO) that someone else was involved in helping PS after the murder…maybe finding the phone was a way to draw out the person who helped?

MOO
What's interesting is that they have continued to search, and allowed the public to know in advance and to see them continuing to search and without keeping the phone secret, they could have. It seems a very tactical decision to go public with the finding of the phone, jumping around, hugging, high fiving etc in front of the media etc and for this to get out there

A small, very sad update:-

“Ms Murphy’s husband Mick has now taken to social media to confirm his heartbreaking acceptance that his beloved wife is never coming home.

Mr Murphy’s Facebook profile now lists his relationship status as ‘widowed’.”

His FB profile has been listed as widowed for some time.

ADMIN NOTE:

This thread is specifically dedicated to discussion of Samantha's case. Numerous off topic posts have been removed.

Stay on topic please.

Thanks !!

It might mean Samantha has been found,
but authorities keep it silent for whatever reason.

So wrong that there is someone who...hy that is stopping them from giving answers?
Not a lot is known about dynamic of murderers who conceal the body of their victim forever...

''''Homicides where the victim's body is not recovered pose unique challenges to investigators and are particularly difficult to solve.1 Despite many examples of no-body homicide cases in numerous jurisdictions, no empirical study has been undertaken on cases where no part of the victim's body is ever located. Although criminologists have studied issues such as geographic disposal patterns and offender countermeasures, they have been silent on the specifics of how offenders permanently dispose of victim's bodies and how this can be overcome in investigations. Forensic medical studies examining cases where bodies are disposed or concealed but eventually located provide the most relevant findings.''''

'''
More needs to be known about the circumstances under which bodies are permanently disposed of or destroyed, who the offenders are, and how some cases are still successfully investigated and prosecuted. To begin to fill the gap in the literature, we explore those homicide cases where, despite no part of the victim's body being discovered, a conviction for homicide was achieved. In so doing, we answer the research questions:
  • 1.
What are the common features of solved no-body homicide cases in Australia?
  • 2.
What challenges are posed to investigators and prosecutors in homicide cases where the victim's body is not recovered and how are these overcome in solved cases?'''''
It is remarkable that VICPOL were able to pinpoint a perpetrator, the approx day and even time of death, the location of death, and arrest the suspect in , what.. a fortnight?? ..

And now VICPOL have to make it stick!!!

I think VICPOL can, actually . They made a huge bold claim, that Mrs Murphy was deceased, that she was deceased because she had been attacked, that her death was not accidental, but determined, that it happened at a particular place, at a particular time, by a particular person, and no other person. That she was murdered, by a stranger. Huge , huge statements, all without a body., They must have some solid unarguable evidence.

It will be interesting to see how Mr Galbally approaches this defence of Mr Stephenson , even more interesting will be how Mr Stephenson conducts himself. Can he maintain his silence? for how long?> His barrister will have to make some kind of statement, at this point he does not have to make a plea, but that time is fast approaching when he , or his barrister , has to , or the judge will do it for him.

I am leaning to evidence from a Gopro mounted on his motorbike or car. JMO
Something like that, NR. Something that is a permanent record, visual, audio, ... something that was saved from the day it happened to the day the police found it. By whatever means, however it happened, it was not destroyed, and that is the mystery , really. Why it was saved..or it was sent to someone else for safekeeping ... .

Whatever it is, it is definitive.. no other way to interpret it , other than the record of a murder, done on a sunny Sunday morning, of a woman out running, by a young man , and no one else, a stranger to her, for some reason .
