If you're refering to what I just posted about her friend's mother telling them to head back to Rochester immediately and them leaving their hotel rooms abruptly at 2 A.M., I've ALWAYS thought that was VERY suspicious and I've said it numerous times on this thread. The fact that to our knowledge none of her "friends" have been entirely forthcoming with the police is especially telling and leads me to believe that they have information that could be important to this case.

BBM. It has never been stated by LE that the friends were not entirely forthcoming.

Thanks for the link. It is very helpful. With the Feds involved, I think there is a good chance human trafficking may be in play here. Also, does anyone believe that her mother may have hired the defense attorney prior to the announcement of the press conference? The announcement was made Friday and she was unaware at the time. She immediately referred inquiries to to the attorney.

He says there is big news to be released. It sounds like that is true with the line up of officials who will be in attendance. Maybe I can rearrange work and go up there for the conference.

That's not what I said, I said that to "our knowledge her friends have not been entirely forthcoming with the police". I never said anything about the police stating that her friends were not forthcoming, of course law enforcement will not come out publicly and say that even if it was the case.
 
It's interesting that the presser is held, not in Myrtle Beach but at the Magistrate's office south of there, close to where her cell phone last pinged.

It would seem unusual they would do this with no new information to share, even if it's something small. I would be surprised if they simply announced nothing more than they are still actively investigating the case.
 
I have wondered about this beautiful girl for yrs, she looks so much like my own daughter and her age is almost the same. I hope they have some information that will help to find who ever is involved with her disappearance. They are gearing up for trial so makes me think they found her remains. :(. I so was hoping they would find her alive...I have never trusted any of those who were last with her, but thats just my opinion and I always felt that boy that she was with who seemed to leave quickly was very suspicious.

I think there's a lot of relevance here. I've always thought McClellanville could yield answers. 3-4 persons of interest from here; cell phone pings from here, etc. Wednesday will hopefully provide some long awaited answers.

I agree they have someone and unfortunately they either found her remains or found DNA evidence to prove BD is no longer here on this earth. Last line from your above link "Sources close to the investigation report Nettles office is gearing up for trial."

BBM, I don't think they would have DD and CD travel all the way to South Carolina from NY if it was something small I would hope not at least.
 
I'll start by saying I don't think I've ever been affected by a missing person report like this before. Maybe it's because I'm near Rochester, or maybe because this is the first major case I've witnessed since my niece was born. I don't know. But, thoughts of Brittanee Drexel and her family have always given me a profound sadness. Absolutely heartbreaking, and I cannot begin to imagine how I'd feel if I'd actually known her.

I have a few questions, if anyone wouldn't mind catching me up. I have been poring over everything I could find since the upcoming presser was announced...

Who was the first person to use the language "missing"? The details do not seem to be clear as to how this conclusion was reached, at what point, or by whom.

I have seen one mention that JO was originally from the SC coastal area. Can anyone verify this?

The timeline concerning when her travelmates changed rooms/hotels and what was done/not done with her belongings at the hotel are murky to me... can anybody give or link me to a clear account?

Welcome. It's nice to have you here. I was at one point very familiar with the timelines surrounding this case but over the years my memory has gone fuzzy with regard to the specifics. IIRC, Brittanee was in constant communication (via text) with her boyfriend in NY the night she went missing. Several minutes went by and he grew concerned for her safety. He threatened to tell her mother that she had gone to SC if she didn't respond and, when she didn't, he did just that. At that point DD reached out a family friend in the military who was based in the south (I apologize, his name and base escape me) to head to the Myrtle Beach area and try to find Brittanee. I don't know who first used the term "missing," but I'd be inclined to say that it happened sometime during this interaction.

JO was originally from the Carolinas but I cannot recall if it was north or south and how close to the coast she was.

Room and hotel changes are kind of up in the air. It seems that you can find different accounts from different sources as to what happened. I find it weird that PB & friends departed SC in the middle of the night, but I do remember hearing at least one story which provided a reasonable explanation. With regard to JO & friends, I thought it was LE that requested that they change rooms so as not to disturb any evidence as the room was investigated.

The statement is unique. I don't recall every seeing or hearing this before. I would question its credibility as this is not a MSM article and there is no source cited.

The initials of one of the girls that Brittnee traveled to the SC with. She is the one who supposedly owned the shorts that Brittanee was wearing the night she went missing and the one who called her back to their hotel to return them.

Well if LE didn't state they haven't been forthcoming to police then how are we coming to the conclusion that they haven't?

Definitely unique. And the credibility needs to be questioned. But, very interesting as it fits in well with the theory i have had about this case for yrs..... that she was kidnapped for the purposes of trafficking and POSSIBLY some folks from Rochester had something to do with setting that in motion. JMO

I think she ended up out of the country and may have been alive for quite some time after the kidnapping. There is still a glimmer of hope that she could be alive IMO
