Wow she found another admirer real quick to get married! Not much for mourning?

Larry King seems to have owned his part in this. And showed remorse. Rita on the other hand! Wow. Judge reading letters from her friends and family now in a tone of mockery! These letters are a joke! They’re all about Rita and Christina is but a footnote. I love this judge too!

'I Stand by My Mom': Emotional Daughter Defends Rita Pangalangan in Child's Hot Car Death

Elizabeth Clyde, the daughter of Rita Pangalangan, emotionally took the stand Friday in support of her mom. Clyde believed her mom did not "intentionally" try to kill her special needs child Cristina Pangalangan after leaving her in a hot car for five hours. "She loved her. Cristina was her whole world," Clyde said.
This is sickening. What is there to smile and be jovial about? She’s just full of smiles, even laughing. I guess her sister being slowly cooked to death in front of her mother and her boyfriend just doesn’t register. So glad the jury weren’t taken in by these vile people.

Caregiver burnout, mixed with drugs. sex. NO food in house but kool aid and ensure. Left with unqualified young babysitter for a weekend. Sorry but I feel she just didn't care about Cristina anymore. In 5 hours never gave her water, food, change her diaper or checked on her, and why lock the car in the first place? Why not let the child back into the house of mother planned to stay? Just sitting for 5 hours is cruel. Not lay her down to sleep?
Just look at her Facebook pages. Christina, contrary to what the daughter went on about, was a big pain to Rita.

Apparently the jury was treated to what a wonderful teacher Rita was as well, but I all I saw on her Facebook regarding teaching was what a big pain her students and their parents were.

Obviously the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, though. The daughter likely loves her children just as much, and locks them in a hot car, too. Yes, a six-month old, left by her mother in a hot car. I hope the daughter gets to spend some “quality time” with her loving mother. Real soon,

Are you saying Cristina's sister left her own baby in a hot car?! I'd like to learn more if you have a link.

Edit: I must have misunderstood your post. Cristina's sister Elizabeth stated in her testimony she has no children.

Not who you were replying to, but there's another sister who did leave her kids in the car while she went in to a store...like a week after Cristina died. Look back through the first couple pages of this thread for links to that story.

Thank you. I just started to follow this thread and was working my way backwards through the posts.

Poor Cristina. She deserved a better family. :(

Rita had a $15k life insurance policy on her daughter as part of her benefits from the school system. The insurance company is concerned about paying it to her given the situation and wants the court to figure it out.
Oh, no ...
Please, ins. company -- do not pay this out !
This sorry excuse for a mother does not deserve a penny.
Omo.

1000% agree.
Plenty of people do drugs and drink alcohol and are functioning addicts and such and would never... ever... EVER do this to their child. Drugs are not an excuse nor a reason for this happening.

A child being a "Burden" is not an excuse. Being exhausted from caregiver burnout is not an excuse. Wanting to putz around with your new disgusting boyfriend is not an excuse.

There is no excuse for this.

The only reason this happened is because Rita and Larry decided to murder an innocent, helpless child who depended on others for her care at no fault of her own, purely from their own extremely self-centered wants and needs for their lives to be easier and freer for them to do whatever the hell they want. They are the epitome of evil. The word narcissism gets thrown around way too much these days as the new mental health buzzword which annoys me to no end, but honestly I'd be willing to bet Rita is a covert narcissist who thought she'd get soooo much sympathy for this happening to her precious daughter. "Did you hear about Matt's teacher Rita? Her daughter died in a horrific accident where she got locked in a hot car, it's so devastating, we should go see how she is, we should start a ..." is the kind of reaction she was not only expecting, but 100% banking on.

Her boyfriend's involvement confuses me a lot. How can someone who is pure evil easily find another who is pure evil? Do they have some sort of symbol that floats above their heads so they recognize eachother, like plumbobs in the Sims?

Legitimately, this is one of the most horrendous, unforgiveable, truly vile cases I have ever come across on Websleuths.

A controversial opinion here, but I took a much more sympathetic view to the woman who tried to end her & her violent autistic daughter's life after she spent all of her money for specialists and school after school after school (where her daughter beat the crap out of everyone including her mom and siblings and teachers and classmates) and she felt like she was a total failure and couldn't make her daughter's life enjoyable for her - she figured they were both better off dead - that was clearly a woman under an insane amount of stress I wouldn't wish on anyone who was having a mental break and desperately needed help... and yet, the husband took a backseat role and went to work and didn't seem to emotionally support his wife who was falling apart at the seams. Again, there's no excuses, she could've taken herself out without her daughter. She's in prison and rightfully so, because you don't try to kill someone else WITH you. But do I feel bad for her? As a person who worked a summer camp for teens & adults with severe autism and encountered so many broken parents who were despondent beyond belief, I certainly do. It takes a special kind of person to be able to handle it, and people can only handle so much.

Cases like this are an entirely different ballgame. What she did to her daughter here was TORTURE. Plain. And. Simple. I can't believe she found someone else to rope into this who was fine letting a disabled, confused young girl probably screaming for her mama die in a hot car. What. the. *advertiser censored**.

Her April 12th post is a red flag to me regarding Cristina.
this also gave me chills for some reason.
WHAT. in the world.
Well clearly Rita is mother of the year. Wow. God I feel so bad for Cristina in her short life. She deserved to be loved & cared for deeply. And she got... THESE "people".. as a "family".

I am glad she was terminated. I have been trying to wrap my head around this murder from the start. I get the mother was obsessed with the partner and she wanted time off from her daughter. I don't believe that she looked in the car at 3 pm (after 4 hours) and saw her daughter alive. Why look for keys? What was going on to lead this woman to wait another hour? Insurance she was dead? Drug use? Ugh. People like this make it hard to believe in the goodness of humanity.
right?? and did whats-his-face forget he had cameras on his property, or what? total dingleberries. evil dingleberries at that

So, so, so in total agreement with everything you said.

I wonder how many of these special needs murders stem from the parent(s) simply not having the resources to deal with it, and not taking the time to deal with it rationally and figure out a sane solution.

If you really think about it, "Special needs murders" don't stem from lack of resources/burn-out /not knowing how to handle it, because there are always options that don't involve murder.

That's why we see cases of children being abandoned somewhere, right?

Also I think you can turn custody over to the state and pay child support. They can't force you to be the caregiver. JMO.
