They left the house at around 11-11:30 on Wednesday night after a phone call according to the story that Jamell mom

She says that she doesn't know what could have happened to Janie and Jamell but her nephew received a phone call right before they left.
"He said I know where that's at and they went to meet someone and that's all I know, they never came back," she added.

Las time she try to reach us was Friday around 3pm she called one of our nieces using Facebook messenger my niece wasn’t able to answer the call because she was at work,

The authorities tracked the last location from Jamell cell phone Rivers Bridge State Park.

So it sounds like the nephew received a phone call from them on Wednesday night right before they left to meet someone at Rivers Bridge State Park.

Friday at 3pm the niece received but didn’t answer a FB messenger call from them.

It was two days from the nephews phone call and the FB messenger to the niece so they probably didn’t get in a wreak unless (one of them after two days into a wreak became conscious enough to make a FB messenger call) then it sounds like they are kidnapped.

Why would they be meeting someone at night in a park?
The only reason I can think of to leave that fast in PJ’s would be to meet a drug dealer. Maybe to buy ecstasy or someone (as in a addict) needed a drug.

How old is the Nephew?
What was the phone call about?!! If he was the one that talked to them last and he said they went to meet someone then he should also know who they went to meet and why?

My understanding from this article and what Janie's sister has said here, Davenna Carter is Jamell's aunt, whom Jamell and Janie live with in SC. References to Nephew are Davenna speaking about Jamell, 38.

Davenna witnessed Jamell receive a phone call Wednesday evening, Dec 12, around 11:30pm or "right before they left".

"He said I know where that's at and they went to meet someone and that's all I know, they never came back," she added.

Jamell Jr. is one of Jamell's other children quoted in the article:
"Nobody no nothing because my father wasn't the type to tell anybody his business he would up and dip," he added.

This is a confusing statement, but I understand it to mean Jamell Jr. can't think of anyone that may have harmed them or any reason his dad would leave voluntarily, because his dad kept his business to himself.

The facebook call to a niece may not have been made by them, but was an attempt to disrupt the timeline.

I agree with you that this sounds like drugs are involved. Not bothering to change clothes, to me, means you're not intending to leave the car, or you need to leave in a hurry (in which case I feel like Davenna would have noticed more of a rush or nervous behavior etc).

I think there are lots of unanswered questions. I hate, hate, hate when people are not honest about the circumstances when someone goes missing. Maybe they think if they post that the person had drug issues, no one will look for them. Well, I know that I certainly don't think anyone should end up dead for using drugs or for being a sex worker. But if it was for her and/or him, why did both go and where was the baby at the time? All the other children are elsewhere so that only leaves the 9 month old. Someone in that family is not telling all that they know. They probably already know who the father was talking to, so unless he was on a burner, they have that info. Who knows if he still had the phone with him when it pinged last?

The fact that they were meeting someone late at night is enough to make one wonder what kind of meeting they were having. Add the fact that the meeting was in a very rural setting and one begins to wonder if this was supposed to be a drug transaction. I suppose it also could be a last-minute Craiglist-type purchase of a Christmas gift.

This one is all messed up. The last name should be Matos. The date she disappeared is supposed to be Dec. 17. And someone posted information about the wrong place. This is in South Carolina.

If I was purchasing something from Craiglist the last place I'd go would be to a deserted park to make the transaction. That would raise all kind of flags for most folks.

After I posted that, I realized that even that wouldn't make sense. Maybe during the day. But not at 11:30 at night. It had to be drugs. But how do a car and two people vanish?

The Baby is in South Carolina with Jamells family & Janis 13 year old is in NYC with me we live 12 hrs away by car. We left South Carolina around 5 pm 12/28/2018 Janis family lives in NYC
Will be thinking of both families, glad you were able to take her 13 year old back home to family in NYC.

Does anyone think it’s odd that both parents just walk out the door at 11:30 at night without telling anyone where they’re going or when they will be back - with two kids at home - especially a 9 month old baby? Just assume the aunt is going to watch, feed, change the baby when you “up and dip” like it’s a regular occurrence?
Something is amiss here.

Could something have happened at work? I haven’t seen anything posted about where Jamell or Janis worked.

So the Nephew she was talking about was Jamell and the phone call was the call that Jamell received right before they left.

Devenna is Jamell's aunt.

Bamberg County couple missing for a week, family looking for answers

Davena remembers the night he left. “I was actually laying in the living room when he left that night he had got a phone call, they walked out the door, I heard him ask his girlfriend where those keys at and she gave him the keys and they both walked out the door and I never saw them again.”

She says it was around 11:30 at night when they left. She has no idea where they went or why now she's hoping investigators can find them.

“He got the phone records and the last ping was on River Bridge Road which is in Ehrhardt South Carolina.”

The family says they think the couple might have been meeting up over a dog they were trying to buy. They could have also been meeting up with someone to get something off Craigslist, but at this point it's a guessing game.

So they left and told nobody in the home where they were going? Even though someone in the home heard them speak to someone on the phone? I don't get it at all.

And where do you get the money to purchase a dog for dogfighting purposes?
Money had to be tight with supporting 5 children that didn’t live with Jamell and a new baby.
