Hey cuz! Me too! Blue with flecks of gold........My family tells me when I get color from the sun, my eyes almost look gold alltogether! My daughter is a red-head and has brilliant blue eyes!
Bet your daughter is beautiful!
:blowkiss:

So...who all on here is kin to me then?

If you've got blue eyes, shake the hand of the nearest person who shares your azure irises: He or she may be a distant cousin.
Danish researchers have concluded that all blue-eyed people share a common ancestor, presumably someone who lived 6,000 to 10,000 years ago.
"Originally, we all had brown eyes," Professor Hans Eiberg of the University of Copenhagen said in a press release. "But a genetic mutation affecting the OCA2 gene in our chromosomes resulted in the creation of a 'switch,' which literally 'turned off' the ability to produce brown eyes."
That "switch" — a simple change from "A," or adenine, to "G," or guanine, in the DNA — actually sits next to the OCA2 gene, which regulates the pigmentation of our eyes, hair and skin, and hence has only a limiting effect on it.
If the mutation had completely deactivated OCA2, all blue-eyed people would be albinos. more: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,327070,00.html
--Welcome relative!--I have blue eyes myself, although they used to be bluer lol

Gold from the sun! You have more gold flecks than I do. You must be the rich cousin!! :)

Hi cousins.. i am the only blue eyed (flecks of light blue/gray) one of 5 brown/hazel eyed and parents where hazel/brown. Grandmother's husband was Danish/Swedish (recessive trait i guess). I have dark brown hair..

Bet your daughter is beautiful!
:blowkiss:
She is a stunner! Women come up to her and tell her that they would pay $$$$$ to get her color hair. She actually likes being a redhead...she thinks it makes her different.......she's only 12, but I have a feeling the boys will be knocking the door down to date her when she's older........thanks!!!!

Blue eyes, blond hair :) Parents, dark hair, dark eyes!! I have every recessive gene there is :)

It makes you MY distant cousin. Not sure how you feel about that! ;) But I think you are a great poster!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Well we should organise a family reunion, us hazel eyed people! :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

Mine are green with a hint of blue... so... does that make me slightly kin... or just the red-headed step child, no body wants to claim? LoL
I will claim you as family! Mine are steel-gray blue, but we will love you as one of our own. :)

From Wikipedia:

There is some difficulty in defining the eye color "hazel" as it is sometimes considered to be synonymous with light-brown and other times with dark green.[32][20][25][27][30][33] They have been described as dark green or yellowish brown,[34] or as a lighter shade of brown.[35] Hazel eyes have also been described as being equivalent to a dark green or amber color eyes/light brown.[36] In North America, "hazel" is often used to describe eyes that appear to change color, ranging from light brown to green and even gray, depending on current lighting in the environment.

Hazel eyes are not in the blue family as many people mistakingly believe. My husband has hazel, mine are green and our son has blue. Hubby and I each had one parent with brown eyes and one with blue.

I knew this girl in elementary. She had one blue eye and one brown eye. SWEAR! I couldn't make that up!
