Hmmm...don't think this route works...

Mesa to Lake Havasu - 3 hours 26 minutes - 209 miles

Lake Havasu to Kingman 1 hour - 60 miles

Kingman to Mesquite 2 hours 45 minutes - 184 miles

7 hours 13 minutes - 453 miles

Add Pasadena miles to Mesa (366 miles) and total is 819.

The 15 gallons in the cans would give her 450 miles, her car's 12 gallons would get her 360 miles - total miles 810. If she traveled Mesa to Mesquite by way of Kingman we have a trip of 396 miles, adding Pasadena to that is a total of 762...yeah, even going to Lake Havasu before Kingman she still doesn't have enough gas.

Great to see this laid out. If she had gone on the Havasu route so she could clean up and/or get rid of the evidence, that would have added quite a bit of time, too. She has to get somewhere close to AZ Last Stop by 10:30 pm to make that call to Ryan. I don't think the Havasu route will work time-wise.

And is there any evidence she'd been to the Havasu area before? I can't see her going somewhere unfamiliar.

It seems unlikely that JA bought gas before she got to NV. She filled up in Mesquite, right? And she showed up in SLC with 3 empty gas cans and needing to fill her car tank. There wouldn't have been room for all that gas if she'd bought extra gas between Pasadena and Mesquite?

(In SLC, waiting for DH to return rental car).

IMO it makes no sense for her to have gone on 10 then up on 95, then over to get on 93. If she went that way she could have saved time AND not risked going over the dam simply by continuing on 95.

After trekking, I'm thinking Mesa to 60 to 17 to kingman, to 93 to dam. Time frame works too . Took me 4 hours from Mesa to Kingman, tack on her 45 miles north on 93. Calling at 10:30 would be right.

Just wanted to remind everyone that Travis' birthday is tomorrow!!

Catching up, we've been busy I see. Thank you Hope4More.

I saw it postulated elsewhere that the water around the sink was from brushing her wet hair in front of the mirror after showering and that rings pretty true, she would have had to walk some distance in the neighborhood to get to her car, and looking freshly showered wouldn't draw as much attention as just wet and haphazard - not to mention her obvious vanity (billion-selfie-girl that she was).

We know she had blood at least on her hands when she dumped everything into the washer as she left blood on the faucet of the downstairs bathroom and a smudge or two on the washer - but she may have already showered and only needed to wash her hands from whatever she picked up from the clothes/towel. Being on her way to Ryan's and not have her hair look a-fright makes think she blow-dried it somewhere, if she did it at T's then the time stamps can't be right, that much hair would take a decent amount of time to dry and even more of her hair would have been left in front of/on the sink area.

I think she got rid of everything except the weapons before the Dam checkpoint (and like Val I think Lake Havasu is most likely, she was familiar with the area and it accounts for the extra time she had), I just have this feeling those were important to her and she put them somewhere she'd remember how to find. Of course it's possible that's why she replaced the gun, having had to dump the one she stole and having liked how it felt to be in possession of one. Self preservation was mighty important to her and she might have felt it was safer to dumpsterize but I'm betwixt and between on that.

Agree with TexMex and Geevee; she had to have showered at Travis' after the murder and stashes her bloody clothes in a bag as there wasn't any blood on the staircase nor out the door. Thus all she had to do was ditch the bag/weapons somewhere on the way to Utah.
I can't view H4M's pictures for some reason. Will be anxiously awaiting her return home for more.
Too bad those weapons will never be recovered. She will never give that information up.
Nice to see everyone back!

TexMex, my Shane was diagnosed with severe arthritis; his paw bones are contracted. We took him to an orthopedic vet specialist who gave him a thorough exam, sedated him and aspirated 0.2cc from his left metatarsal. Ran tests for rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme Dissase & other infectious AB, all that was negative. Nothing else can be done for him. He still limps and will always have the limp, but he doesn't appear to be in pain. Vetprofen, Tramadol (bid) & Dasuquin daily. Prognosis- take every day as it comes.
Sorry for OT but wanted to let TexMex know.
Thank you everyone for the great discussion!

I've been reading and reading this morning trying to catch up, and it's been educational to see photographs and proposed routes. Thanks Hope4More for taking the time to do this, and I hope the rest of your trip is wonderful. I don't know about anyone else but I felt a little bit sick seeing the area around Travis' house, knowing that she was there and what happened.

.

If the spray in the bathroom was from JA brushing her hair, wouldn't there have been dye in the droplets, since she'd only just had her hair dyed?

Doubtfully, salon-dyed hair isn't going to bleed color like that, it does fade, as we saw in her later pics and mug shot, but imagine what her own towels would look like if the dye just came out after shampooing.

Happy Belated Birthday Travis, you, your good spirit and kind heart will always be remembered.

:tyou: Hope4More for taking us with you on your trip thru Mesa! Hope you are enjoying the rest of your trip!

Hope Jodi's enjoying the heat, it's been 101 here in CA!:hot::hot::desert::desert::desert:

Anyone still conversant enough with all the other details to see if this place fits? I keep getting confused between all the calls, gas, miles, time frame... while trying to keep in mind that she may or may not have still had enough blood visible to have made a well lit public place too dangerous to stop at. That was why I was thinking Havasu, with all its waterfalls, pools, creeks, etc to clean up and dispose of unwanted evidence in what would seem to be total privacy, at least that's the impression from the pics I've seen online. Hmm, would that account for the "over a hundred miles" that she claims to have driven in the wrong direction?

Jodi tells Flores that she literally stranded when she ran out of gas (this was before the gas cans saving money story). took a nap, cleaned up a little bit and discovered her charger under the passenger seat, and plugs it in to charge. Flores questions the time of her being lost/stranded (18 hours?), and she backtracks and says that she somehow got on I 10 in California and started seeing signs for Phoenix, but wasn't concerned because it was hundreds of miles away.

I think her route was down 10 to Mesa up, then 93 to 40 and into Kingman and up to the Dam. You also don't go stealth all the way to Mesa, then hang out a sign, She parked around there

Rickshaw.....we made it to the McClonkley petroglyphs! They were well worth the trip- thanks!

One upload per session, I guess. Oh well. Yellowstone was absolutely magnificent, as always, but more crowded than I had ever seen it.

DH is mid- air on his way home. DS and I are about to set out on our steak tour route home. We're determined to eat a great steak dinner in each state we pass through. First up: prime rib at Quincy's Steakhouse in Leadville, Colorado, about 7 hours away from here in Nelphi, Utah.

I ate there a few years ago while passing through. The best steak I have ever had, anywhere. :) Leadville, iirc, is the highest altitude " city" in the US, near and in multiple mountain peaks of 13 ,000 feet. On to New Mexico from there, a straight and lovely drive down past the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, and the Santa Christa mountains of northern NM.

After today, much longer driving days. It just feels like it's time to go home.

Does that still hold if she did stop and fill up in Buckeye as she had testified? Granted she had said she'd stopped in Desert Center(CA) too but perhaps it was already closed, or she got scared stopping so late at night in such a desolate place(see Maran's site), or she initially thought she had enough gas until it was so late and so empty she had no choice but to take the chance on Buckeye(AZ)? If she'd paid cash and didn't save the receipt, there's a good chance noone would ever be able to verify it, thus giving her enough gas to take the detour up through Havasu after she'd left Mesa. I just keep recalling the sun in her eyes as she'd left Mesa.. not something that would have been an issue if she'd been going north up 93, right?

"On the stand Jodi Arias claims she went from Pasadena, CA to Mesa, AZ, but she stopped for gas at Desert Center, CA and at Buckeye, AZ.
Problem: It’s only 174 miles from Pasadena to Desert Center or 5.8 gallons of gas. Jodi Arias claims to also stop at Buckeye Arizona which is only 170 miles from Desert Center or 5.7 gallons. If she made a mistake, and only stopped at Buckeye, AZ, this is 344 miles or about 11.5 gallons, a little too far to go according to Jodi’s habit of not letting the gas gauge get in the red.
