She is adorable Kensie!
Love a Jack Russel. Hopefully her visit to the vet will help get her feeling better, poor thing.

What I'm listening to tonight; Now this is a rare Roy Obrsion without his glasses. When they pan to the crowd they show a little girl many of us looked like after a home perm, she is a cutie, then the next young woman reminds me of by favorite grand daughter ( she always says GRANDMA, I'm your only grand daughter, and I tell her that is why she is so special to me), and the third young girl favors a young Tulessa (at least in her photo to me) fresh face, sweet smile

We sat in twenty degree mist at Starplex (it's has a new name now) one Saturday night, and were so happy we had seats under the canopy, and not sitting out on the grass.

:lepsmilie: Good Luck to your son today, I am sure he will do fine :)

Well, he didn't think he did fine :sigh:

He forgot to take his ADD medication and he felt he messed up two of the three questions they asked him- "why he wants to attend their college" and one question about "diversity".

We talked about his group interview (14 other candidates- interviewed by the college admissions officer and an alumni) after he came out. I just knew something was wrong. He only wanted to talk about it briefly because he was so upset, but I kept pressing because I thought he might forget what happened at the interview. He needed to talk about it and let it all out, IMO.

I thought he did well with the question about "diversity" and his volunteer experience, but not so well on the "why their college" part. (and we talked and reviewed his reasons for 2 weeks :sigh:). I know him- he fumbles when he is very nervous and maybe he didn't come across as confident as he should have and didn't say what he really wanted to say.

The interview was suppose to take 1 1/2 hours, but because there were so many candidates, the interview lasted over 2 hours and seemed rushed to my son (and he was the second to speak).

My son felt inadequate because all the other candidates had much more experience (work and volunteer) than he did. Some spent field work in Africa, did research and co-published papers, attended conferences, etc. Because of his ADD, he couldn't volunteer/work and get good grades at the same time.
He doesn't want to bring up his ADD (which is a disability in school's eyes). He also said that everyone sounded very confident when they spoke.

He also said that the boys/men dressed more formally than he did (he wore khaki's and a button down white polo shirt)- some wore suits or shirts with ties. I thought he looked fine just as he was- after all, this wasn't a job interview where a suit is sort-of mandatory.

I think his standards for his self are so rigid (in his mind) on what is appropriate and what is not (he's really a great person, IMO) and he doesn't give his self a break- why I don't know because I don't ever expect perfection from him or anyone.

The college has 44 openings to fill and 2 more interview dates and they said they would let everyone know in the beginning of March who would be accepted.

He also said that the hour ride to the college was tedious (but he thought that was probably because he didn't take his pill).

I cried on the ride home, but didn't let him see. He was very agitated.

So now we wait. :sigh:

:(

Josie, the best place for fur babies is the Vet. They will know what is going on, when we can only see the pup laying around and avoiding contact, Vet will find out what is needed.

Kensie, keep us posted. I loved my fur babies more than myself it seemed.

CMJA TOPIC: Wonder if she has joined a jailhouse gang or what is up. I don't care about the outside tweets, just wondering, just realize she doesn't get it that all is captured somehow, just wondering. Wondering how sentencing got delayed again. Arizona is an interesting state.

BBM As far as I know- she suppose to be in solitary for 23 hours a day.

Florida is more "interesting" :aktion1: and so are their jurors. :banghead:

Oh YoNo. I am so sorry you and your son are upset about the interviews. Would letting the interviewers know he had ADD be a bad idea? I thought due to the Americans with Disabilities Act, there can be no prejudice for disability. The ACLU would be all over that.

How are you doing? I have been thinking about you and everyone here. I got ensconced in the Dunn trial. I should not watch trials like this anymore. Hope you are ok!

BTW- thank you Nymeria. I really appreciated your sentiments.
It was just a trying day for both of us.

BBM He doesn't want to be labeled anymore as having ADD. He had such bad experiences (with being made fun of by the children- calling him "spaced-out, etc.)- with that all during grade school thru high school, so he doesn't want that anymore. No compensations for him anymore. :sigh:

Thanks for commenting, Zuri. I appreciate it.
I'm so sad right now for my son and I feel his pain so deeply. I just don't know how to make him feel better. :(
I need to go to sleep and rest. I'll feel better in the AM. I just hope he feels better.

:anguish:

YoNo, there are accommodations/support for ADD/ADHD at SUNY Binghampton. It is not supposed to be a deterrent for qualifying for their grad programs. Is that true?

Yes, there are accommodations, but he doesn't want them- he didn't have them at the college where he just graduated from.
I cannot force him to disclose that he has ADD anymore. He is a grown man now- even if he will always be my baby.

I'm going to bed and lose myself with Frasier and Niles. (and probably the Golden Girls).

Goodnight.

Hope you all have a good night! I am so sorry I missed Becky Shary. I miss her v's for W's. I hope Kensie's dog gets better soon. Love Jack Rusell terriers. High energy and great horse dogs.

I have to take Zuri to the vet tomorrow. I am worried she has frostbite on the tip of her tail. I started her on antibiotics today and I am giving her doggie Vistaril for the itching. She has chewed it raw in one spot. And the vet is coming out to check my beloved horse Knox. He has an infected area under his chin that we treated before. It may be a splinter that hasn't worked its way out.

Oh how we worry about our children and our animals.....

I am sorry it did not go well for your son.
He sounds like a smart man though, if this doesn't come through for him the right thing will. I am not super spiritual but I believe in fate, and that good things come to good people (for the most part).
Enjoy Frasier, Niles & the Girls tonight and start tomorrow with today wiped clean.

PS- I am usually not a "sunny disposition" kind of woman, so all I said above sounds/looks strange to my eyes, lol. But from all you have said he sounds like a good ambitious kid. I admire that, and have faith he is going to do well.

We had four Jack Russell's a few years a go. Trixie, Monalou and Sports mother, took to getting out of the gate and taking a walk, until one day we couldn't find her.

WhatsUpLittlePup died June 6, 2012 at age thirteen, and lives on in his niece and nephew. They are the funniest dogs. When they were puppies they'd both carry the ball back to us. Each holding to one side. I take the leashes with me when I go out at night in case one of them finds a skunk and I don't have to carry them back to the house, and if take only one Sport walks next to MonaLou holding onto her leash.

Nite all,

We grew up with music, it was always on. I almost missed meeting a very special lady one night when I went with my mother to an Oral Roberts revival. Came home and met Pasty Cline. My mother played the piano, my father the guitar, and she sang. It was wonderful. I remember them crying when we heard she'd died.

This was the best music to dance and clean house to. My DH loved to watch me clean.

Neesaki dogs are God's angels. I was in a bad place about seven years ago, and my little girl stayed with me, by me and would put her paw on me and look into my eyes. I told her then she was one of His angels and thanked her for taking care of me. Ms.MonaLou and her brother Sport, will be nine in April, I don't even want to think of either one of them gone. She sleeps next to me with her head on my pillow. She forgets she's a dog sometimes.

Anna has a big ole girl and Eva has watched over her many times. Anna is bi polar and Eva knows when she needs help. She talks like Lurch on the Adams Family, and will come find my husband or me when she thinks Anna needs help or someone around. I babysit her everyday when Anna's at work ,and during the day on weekends she comes over to play. She'll be happy to be back at grandma's.

Anna and I were eating Chinese in her bedroom one night and MonaLou went to her bowl, got a mouth full of food, came back, put it on the floor and "ate" with us.

How was your trip?

Hi, you are right about the dogs. When my granddaughter had such a hard time at home DeeDee stayed right by her. Amy would lay on her bed and cry. DeeDee would lick her tears. When she came to us DeeDee came with her. :seeya:

Whoever said that someone "eats like a bird", doesn't know much about birds. :floorlaugh:

My outside birds have been costing me plenty this winter- what with all the

snow, snow, snow,snow,

snow, snow,

damn snow we have been getting!!! (Snowing, again, today

and I've just about have had enough already of this white stuff! :scared:)

They get so frantic when it snows and I think it makes them eat more. :floorlaugh: (the poor dears :loveyou:)

Oh, when will this winter end? :tantrum: :violin:

yes/no sorry about the interview. I hate that your son was so agitated. I know how hard that must be for you.

Sorry you are still dealing with endless snow. It is like a Spring day here and to think that last week we were iced over. Of course, these temps will bring horrible thunderstorms.

Hard for me- yes, but harder for him right now. But he will survive the trials of life that everyone must go through. It's a "lesson learned", IMO.

How is Becky doing?

Spring :spring:- seems so far away. :anguish: :sigh:

Kensie posted on the Random Thoughts thread that Becky is back in surgery, poor little girl. I sure hope this one fixes her right and she can come home soon. Kensie must be a basketcase.
