I don't know if it says something that she's hired an attorney?

I kind of understand both sides. I understand the sheriff's office guy who was saying there can't be stuff going in an out of jail to the prisoners. But I also understand that if this drawing was to be used for mitigation purposes (to show the jury), then Maria would have put it in her "Jodi file." Who knows, maybe they are going to do a powerpoint of the drawings to use in the penalty phase or something.

I think there's more to the story, b/c sheriff's office went as far as going and interviewing her and then banning her. There is more to this story IMO.

When in doubt, report it. Maria knows better. jmo

Hi everyone- miss everyone. :seeya:

It's been a crazy week.

First there was band troubles- my son had to do/view some "modules" (?) on-line for grad school, sort of an orientation or something??- which used up a lot of bandwidth- and he's not done yet (there are 3 of them)!

-- and then my FIL died last Thursday. We were off to NYC on Saturday. We packed up The Queen and Milo and drove 5 hours (just got back this AM and I'm exhausted- thank goodness my son can drive, too- I'm getting too old to drive so many hours).

It's really sad when a life/person/pet dies. Life is a gift, but it isn't so sad when that life was well lived. And my FIL lived his life fully and well- he was 89 years old, a veteran of one of the wars, graduated from college and became a sargent in the NYC police force, who raised 6 children (all fine people), and who was injured in the line of duty as a policeman in his late 50's. He had a Irish heart of gold and will be missed by many. There were so many people paying their respects at the wake- veterans and police, people from the parish (he was a very devoted Catholic and volunteered many hours at the church) friends and family. And so many flowers! (funeral flowers are very expensive, as I found out!).

So. missy's :jail: retrial is Sept. 8 - well at least jury selection. I won't hold my breath. :aktion1:

Maria De La Rosa- is she the one at the trial who exposed her breasts? :nono: I agree with Nymeria- she should have "declared" the pinwheel drawing as trial evidence for mitigation. Are they going to need a new mitigation specialist now?

Looks like CNN is pushing for coverage for the retrial- hope they win. What does "preclusion of mitigation specialist" mean??? I mean-she's going to get another one, so what's the problem??? :dunno:

I missed St. Patrick's Day here, so here's a belated happy St. Patrick's Day:

I hope CNN can get the retrial aired.

So what good would a pinwheel drawing be at the Penalty Phase. Don't kill Jodie because she can draw a little :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

:seeya: Good to see you back YesorNo!
But sorry to hear of your families loss :(

Reminds me of Perry Smith, of the "In Cold Blood" fame- killer of the Clutter family in 1959 and executed in 1965 by hanging.

He also drew pictures and I found one of them here:

http://cjonline.com/stories/031208/lei_256083317.shtml
(couldn't find anymore, but in the book Capote stated that Smith did a drawing of him)

It only took 5 years to execute him and his sidekick, Richard Hickock. No one cared that Smith drew pictures, but I think there was a different mentality back then when it came to murderers- not as liberal then, IMO, and not much in sentiments for the "rights" of murderers.

Smith also thought he could still "contribute to society". His last words:

The last words of Smith were, "I think it is a hell of a thing that a life has to be taken in this manner. I say this especially because there's a great deal I could have offered society. I certainly think capital punishment is legally and morally wrong. Any apology for what I have done would be meaningless at this time. I don't have any animosities toward anyone involved in this matter. I think that is all."

http://www.gcpolice.org/history/clutter/cutter_family_murders.htm

I found Smith and Hickock's inmate case files here, if anyone's interested:
http://www.kansasmemory.org/locate.php?query=clutter+murders

Anyway, missy's mitigation factors are a farce, IMO- she has none.:snooty:

-mitigating factors referenced by Nurmi:

1) she was 27 at the time of the crime ( a baby?- pftttt)

2) she has no prior criminal record (that's because Travis never reported her and what about the stealing at her grandfather's house- the gun, dvd player, etc.?)

3) she was a good friend (to who? she is a manipulator)

4) she had a lack of family support as a child and adult (who could support someone who raged at her parents and abused her family, IMO- pfttt)

5) she suffered from neglect and abuse as a child and adult (the wooden spoon- another pfttt)

6) she tried to make the best out of her life (by dropping out of school, by lying, by having a breast enlargement?)

7) she tried to improve herself and can improve the lives of other inmates (recycling, etc.- Oh, please!)

8) she has artistic talents (Dalmer cooked and ate his vicims- doesn't make him a chef- and she wasn't a photographer, either- just a waitress- no offense to waitresses- another pfttt!)

Not one of these has anything to do with the fact that she murdered Travis (who was only- what- 30 years old). Remember when she said she never killed anyone before or was it the first time she killed anyone? I'm sure serial killers had a "first" kill. I don't think she would be able to control herself if someone else "disagrees" with her.

Marlo and Phil Jig, St. Patrick's Day Joke - YouTube

We had a dear friend whose oldest brother died on Sunday afternoon. He's been in a nursing home for several years and called his granddaughter and told her he wanted to go out to lunch with her, so she picked him up, and they had a nice lunch, then he wanted to drive past his old neighborhood, and his last request was to sit in his recliner that was at her house. She said he sat there a bit, and then went to the bathroom , came back sat down and died a few minutes later. She said she felt bad for fussing over him having second serving of chocolate pudding. He was well loved and will be missed.

My sister told me this afternoon that one of her dear friends mother died two weeks ago, She was one hundred and five years old. She lived in the nursing since she was eighty yeas old.

My other sister (the loud cook) sits with a lady in the evening that celebrated her one hundred and second birthday last month. She is a very sweet woman that lives with her seventy eighty year old daughter. They had both lost their husbands in 2009. My sister says the daughter always says "mother, I'm seventy eight years old I think I can do this on my own. And Mrs. Olga tells my sister "see how she treats me? she'll be sorry when I'm gone. They fuss at each other about everything.

Seems like God is taking a few saints home.

Didn't we see Maria take things out in the courtroom several times? After Jodi had passed her something?

Have been catching up at the Teghan thread tonight and it's so heartbreaking what that ******* did to that poor child. It's just unbelievable how some people have no regard for other's pain. I just can't imagine it. Too sad.

BBM Yes- I remember that also.

Hi Everyone. Long time no post.
Latest from Arizona Republic 3-18-2014
Latest Arias sideshow involves pinwheel drawing.
Maria De La Rosa, the mitigation specialist was caught carrying the drawing in a packet of legal papers and has been banned from the jails.
A key member of the Jodi Arias defense team has been banned from the Maricopa County jails after being accused of trying to smuggle a colored-pencil drawing of a pinwheel out of one of the facilities.
They never stop do they.

Good to see you back YorN ! :seeya: Love how you put things, :floorlaugh:

So sorry about your FIL. :( but good to hear he lived a good life. :)

Preclusion of Mitigation Specialist is to keep her from being one. They don't need her if they use her old work. Not that it was actually work, or even helpful, or thoroughly thought through, imo. Is not worth the State paying for her presence again when Nurmi and Wilmott can use the previous work is probably the idea behind that. If you ask me, the State should not pay her anyway, lol. That was not what mitigation specialists do. That was just made-up hopeful wishes that a teen would come up with. Ay yi yi

Well, I suppose Ms. de la Rosa hasn't had much luck at finding witnesses to Jodi's sterling personality who don't have serious problems of their own! If a drawing of a pinwheel is a mitigating factor, it's pretty sad.

At the first penalty trial, Patty what's-her-name was a bust. Juan got the goods on her. Her parents have to remain the bad guys while being her reason to be allowed to live so they don't suffer. The ex. will only give mitigation to a news reporter.

As far as I can see, the only use for her "art" is to support the canteen she'll need, what with all the snacks and phone calls she has to make to all her supporters!
