I still want to know why Juan Martinez was allowed, with no objection from the Defense, to refer to Jodi Arias as "the burglar" of her grand-pappy's .25 caliber handgun.

She was not convicted of that crime, nor did the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department even charge the lying torture-murderess with it.

I remain perplexed as to why Nurmott allowed JM to state this directly to the jurors as undisputed fact without a single objection.

Any lawyers in the house?

You know I think the DT has just about checked out themselves. When your client becomes defiant and says things to ruin her own case. What does she leave her attorney's to work with. I would probably feel the same way if I were in their shoes. She gave them nothing to work with for mitigation. Her mom can't testify as she claimed her parents abused her. I don't blame her team for being upset. I noticed that JW stays away from Jodi as much as possible, and only answers her when she needs to. Jodi has made everyone run from her due to her own actions. Hopefully one day she will wake up and she the destruction she has caused.

I can see why Patti Womack would want to keep her face off-camera.

Maricopa County doesn't pay as much as ABC.

Does anyone have links to this interview? I've tried searching this thread and Youtube without any luck. TIA

Just some rambling thoughts/observations:

KN's list of mitigating circumstances is beyond weak and I can almost see it imploding even before Juan has his cross. Can just picture the DT trying to put something together and JA thinking that her art was a wonderful idea.

Any courtroom observations in terms of JA being guarded yesterday? I watched the videos and saw that at the end of the opening arguments, JA was able to get up from her seat and walk back in the courtroom with a manilla envelope in her hand. No guard visible with that camera angle. At the end of court, just before the jury was brought in, the guard was sitting right next to JA and the defense table. Real up close and personal. Wonder if she has been having a number of tantrums this past week...reports were that she was heavily drugged by the end of the day.

Can a mitigation witness really be subpoenaed? I thought that this type of testimony was voluntary.

Steven and Samantha, speaking on behalf of Travis's entire family, were so genuine in their heartbreak yesterday. May time ease their grief and trauma so that they can find comfort and beauty in life again. Travis's love will be with them forever, as will their love for him.

The Thames River cruise will cover lots of sights along the way, most enjoyable. Would also recommend a trip to St. Paul's Cathedral, in particular the "Whispering Gallery", the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge. Perhaps Hampton Court Palace or Shakespeare's Globe Theater. Not sure what your interests might be but these are a few that come to mind, stop at a pub for some food, fish - n- chips or kidney pie... enjoy !

Should add if Princess Di is to your liking - Kennsington Palace.

Several years ago my husband and I went to London for 28 days. We rented a flat near Kennington Palace and Notting Hill. We did some walking tour guides. They are really great . Also I think Portobella Market is a must. Also Mayfair. We did a walking tour of Mayfair. As I recall it is the most expensive area in London, and the U.S. Embassy is there. There is a statue of President Roosevelt from the British, I believe .In touring Mayfair this is what our guide told us. The U.S. wanted to buy the property the Embassy is on but could not, so the U.S. rents it for..........$1.00 a year. We did a night walking tour of Jack the Ripper. We did museums as well. So much to see, I could go on an on.

Is it possible that Ms. Patty may be a GUEST of Sheriff Joe as we speak? (For showing up under the influence of something illegal?)

I think they'd just send her home and tell her to come back sober.

That floored me as well.

I'm sitting there screaming as she takes a manila envelope, stands up and walks away from the Defense Table with no bailiff/guard in sight.

I assumed that she would just keep walking out of the courthouse.

I don't understand how in this phase you can be forced to testify? Either you do willingly because you believe someone's life should be spared or you don't and it will backfire. This can't be legal can it?

Subpoenas are SOP in trials. Some witnesses need them as a "pass" to get out of work, etc. It also ensures they show up when you need them. I don't think this is a big deal, at all.

Well, the Mitigation Specialist is supposed to look into JA's entire life, home, all family, all schools, all doctors, all friends, and anything else, to find out all about her. To find out if she was abused, if she suffers from any mental illness then or now, if she killed kittens or hugged them, if she had any friends, if she harmed friends or helped them, and the list goes on.

Then the Mitigation Specialist is to help the DT in preparing their mitigation procedure, speech, witness for JA, and what to bring to the juries attention. Since we are not finished with whatever will be said on behalf of JA, we don't know how much was found to be helpful. Even if not much was found, hours go into that work, she also has to endure hours with JA, lol.

I have no idea about the hours requested for pay, but she does get paid for her in Court hours too, I'm sure the hours had to be somehow itemized for the Judge's approval. (Side Note: The big cross could go, or at least be tucked inside though. Looks kind of 1980s Madonna Style, even if she means it as a religious symbol.)

I think she borrowed this ensemble from The Artist Formerly Known As Prince:

Big or small it is what JA used her hands to do. It is shocking the brutality of the murder and would be commented on no matter the 'glove size'. Gee we comment on zits, hair, *advertiser censored*, clothes....sleuthing every aspect of the physical being of the murderer. Even LE takes this stuff into account.

We are better than that. We are Websleuthers. It's just that some of our posters are so angered by what Jodi has done and continues to do that they need to vent. Human nature.

I agree with you. I personally will not waste emotion or energy hating or thinking much about her other than I hope she gets the DP simply for the solitary confinement. I do not want to become so angry, or hate filled and ugly like the crazies on that other site.

Many, many times I step back and close my eyes and see Travis' smiling face and remember all the good that he was and did in his short life and I work that much harder, to lift myself up to reach that higher bar that he set. jmo

Lol, I can see it now. Patty wanders in and as they're explaining the procedures etc, she goes on the nod. Defense wonders if they can straighten her out in time..nope she's barely coherent and her eyes are rolling back in her head and she's slurring..court is UNABLE to proceed.

Would not surprise me a bit. I saw some pics on fb and she's apparently quite opiated in a few. Her pupils were non existent.

Sorry I didn't trace back to original poster...
The ripper walk is a must try to book with Donald "rum ba loo". Can't remember spelling. He is an expert on ripper! On the walk you will get to experience brick lane... Amazing curry, and you can smell it for blocks! Also Sunday roast at any pub will not disappoint!

I'm NOT a lawyer, but I'm sure you wanted MY opinion on that, right?:floorlaugh:

IMO Nurmi & Wilma KNOW the gun was Grandpa's and it just didn't occur to them to object. It may have been an "Oh, crap!" moment a little later when it was too late to object. Lord knows they objected to everything else!:twocents:

I think they'd just send her home and tell her to come back sober.

Hi Schub! I though Unable to proceed was telling. Both witnesses were there as far as I know? ... I think Jodi manipulated her way OUT of finishing the day. The lack of control over yesterday's proceeding probably broke her brain.

This was my thought as to why court was canceled yesterday. But I don't think she's in custody.

HLN reporting that DB will be the only mitigation witness on Monday
