The problem with that moral argument is that it's impossible to apply universally. If it's 'wrong to kill' full stop, end of message, then it was wrong for us to enter WWII and defeat the Axis powers, in which case Hitler would have had his dark millennium, which according to the 'wrong to kill' moral law, would have been the right thing for us to allow. This absurdity shows that the answer does not lie in moral absolutes, but in common sense in applying both our capacity for life-affirmation and yes, even life-destruction when that life has become malignant and a threat to the much more widespread and common non-malignant life.Death penalty: just plain wrong

Oh, how times have changed. They tried to kill her and failed. Now they're patting themselves on the back for taking away her Hershey bars.

Robert A. Durst, the scion of a New York real estate family, was arrested on Saturday in New Orleans on a warrant issued in a homicide investigation by Los Angeles County, law enforcement officials said..
Mr. Durst, 71, was arrested by deputies from the Orleans Parish Sheriffs Office and booked just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, according to an online record of his arrest. He was being held without bond.
Warm saline solution doesn't hurt or burn at all. Feels soothing.
I'm shocked that Juror #17 is granting interviews. If I was Juror#17, I'd go into witness protection or relocate to ROT.The JM page has stated that News 12 AZ will be interviewing juror 17 at 10 PM tonight.

Amazing what a documentary can do for a "cold case":

Real estate heir Robert Durst was arrested Saturday in New Orleans on murder charges, his attorney said Sunday.
Durst was taken into custody around 11 p.m. local time. He is being held on a first degree warrant out of Los Angeles County by the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office.
One episode of "The Jinx" series highlighted a never-before-seen handwritten letter discovered by Berman's stepson, Sareb Kaufman, who believes it was sent by Durst to Berman a year before her death, KTRK reports. Kaufman claims the letter carries similarities to an anonymous note sent to police by the person believed to be Bermans killer. The anonymous letter reportedly includes details that only the killer would know.
The letter sent to Berman was recently handed over to California police, who reopened their investigation into Bermans death, the channel reported.
Texas is a wonderful State. I grew up there. Of course now that it is flooded with illegals, it will turn out much like AZ and NM.
Does Websleuths have a thread for this (yet)? TIA
Firing squad makes good sense. It's economical, bullets don't have expiration dates like the drugs used for executions, since expert markspeople would be utilized to carry out the executions, the chances of a botched execution would be slim to none. I like it. I mean if a state is going to have the DP, then have it and carry it out.

Going to feed the critters and *maybe* watch the next one, if I can stomach it. Did Lawrence get his law degree on the side of a cereal box??!!!?!?!?!?!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I couldn't for the life of me think of that title: jury consultant.
Kewl.
that oj thing still burns me up grrrrrrr
I like Paul Sanders. One of the many things I agree with...if it were not for looking for justice for Travis, I would not have been able to post with some of the sweetest, funniest, kindest, most loving, and sometimes most irritating, smartest people on this planet! And I mean that in the best possible way. In the end, when the world is silent, when the last voice has been heard, when the Bible has been read and closed for the last time, the last breath drawn, there WILL BE justice for Travis Alexander. "Vengenace is mine. I will repay, saith the Lord.". That's the scripture and I believe every Word.
The only way to fix a problem is to first acknowledge it exists, evaluate it honestly, and then either correct it or provide alternatives. The fact is the DP in many states is broken (not in all states) so I would suggest fixing it or doing away with it. It does no good to anyone (except the criminals) to call it the most severe punishment, then turn around and use it to give every possible opportunity and unlimited money to the criminal to overturn their conviction and continue to torture the family's of their victims with endless and relentless efforts to go free, all at the tax payer's expense.
I'm not opposed to the DP in cases of clear guilt and for appropriate crimes. But a DP should be just that; a 10 year hard execution date. Do whatever you want in those ten years, appeal, find religion, express remorse, or whatever, but you get the DP, and you've got ten years.

It's over Brother! You deserved so much more!Thank you to the jury, thank you for fighting for Travis.

Ok I am a twin~~i am also a mom of twins~~~~we have NEVER EVER refered to them as "wombmates". It is either sister or baby "A"/baby "B".
Good pic of the murderer from that 1st story. Stripes and pink, as it should be.
I can't find anything directly from AzCentral/12 news about an interview with J17, just a tweet from @Justice4Travis and some round abouts by Jen......
Thought this was an interesting take on JAII:

All 6 of the wingnuts at JAII have gathered to road trip it to Phoenix to support #JodiArias.
I still think "groupies" is a better term for CMJA's "fan club".
