I despise when certain doctors are like that. Its just not right. Some of them are even getting to the point of charging patients fees if we have to reschedule and its less than 2 days before the appointment.
I can understand it if they have a problem patient, but then deal with the problem patient but dont take it out on the rest of us.
Here is what bugs me the most.
I will typically arrive early about 20-30 minutes and then I sit in the waiting area, waiting and wiating and I never get seen at my scheduled time even. Usually about 30 minutes or more AFTER my appointment time, I will finally get called back. But hang on.....this is where the big "FAKE OUT" or MUSICAL CHAIRS/MUSICAL ROOMS games begin.
They will take me back, make me get on a scale in the hall to pretend they are starting to do something, and then off to a room I go. Then the dreaded "door closing" happens as the physician assistant (PA) politely says....."Doctor will be with you shortly".
Yeah right!!!
And I dont want to buy the Brooklyn Bridge either.
And here's where things get interesting. We begin to train our ears to listen carefully as anybody gets close to outside our door, and all we here is other room's doors opening + closing and people coming + going. And yet, there we sit waiting with nothing more than the 1 or 2 stinking old magazines that are filled with germs.
Sometimes there is the "FALSE ALARM" where we heard someone coming. We perk up for a minute, and then go right back to sulking as we realize it wasnt our room.
And this games a kick in the teeth.
Sometimes a nurse will finally arrive, we perk up, and we think things are going to finally happen for us. Well...."FAKE-OUT" time....its just the PA to take your blood pressure or temperature, and waiste some more time to make you think you are getting attention.
Its right at this point where some doctors even use the "MUSICAL ROOMS" game. After the blood pressure and/or thermometer, the PA will then escort you to.....you guessed it.....a different room. For what? To wait some more of course.
The physchological games they are playing here on us are all very crafty and finely tuned. They have been developed over years of practice and the doctors coordinating their methods amongst each other.
If you have ever experienced the "2nd MUSICAL ROOM" game, you will always notice that the 2nd room is always much more elaborate and has more doctor "stuff" in it than the 1st room. Thats to make you realize that yes, you will finally get to the see the doctor next. They have delayed all they could and this is their way to show you that this should be it now.
When the doc finally comes in, it is typically at least an HOUR past our originally scheduled office visit time (remember the 30 minute original delay in the public waiting room PLUS the extra 30 minute delay time with all the games just played on you).
When the Doc finally comes in, its at this point where we have to do some pretending of our own.
We have to pretend that the way they just disrepected our valuable time is normal.
Its just how it is. Our lives and our schedules are not important. It doesnt matter if we just lost an hour's pay that day for nothing. It doesnt matter if someone back at our office is waiting on us. Our schedules are not important of course. Its a 1-way street here at the Docs office or Dentist office.
And herein lies my pet-peave about this subject. If they are going to not give a crap about being on time for their (our) appointment and they are constantly being late for it, then don't get mad at us if we happen to be late once OR we have to reschedule once in a blue moon.
I understand the docs and their staff may have certain problem patients that are not prompt and may cancel way too often. Well, take it out on them. But dont hurt the rest of us if your own procedures are to make us constantly wait an hour or more as part of the "OFFICE ROUTINE".
END-RANT.
Sorry I got carried away....LOL
I am actually in a very good mood today.
Cheers everyone.
